Life at last in Nut Lodge!! :-D :-D

No, I didn't fall off the steps doing the window frame, but my knees didn't half hurt by the time I had done kneeling on the worktops trying to put new silicone in. What a messy job. I have up in the end!

I have cleaned the outside of the frame this morning and cleaned the windows. Now it is throwing it down and looks as though it is in for the day :-( :-(

The foreman has just been, but is coming back at lunchtime with the plumber. They have had three attempts at stopping the leaks under the sink and now the plumbing from the boiler to the shower in the bathroom cupboard is leaking. They are not prepared to do anything about the painted melamine doors as the foreman says they look ok. :-0 :-0

The 'blind' man is coming at 3.30, so I will be delighted when that is done.

LG, I bet you missed Downton again. I am not saying a word about it. You will have to catch up at some point!!

DET, I only have the bathroom cupboard in the bungalow and half of that is taken up by the boiler, so there is no storage space whatsoever, not even a spare bedroom :-D :-D You know what men are like when it comes to sorting out stuff. A good old moan will help him on his way :-D :-D Just think what he could tidy up and decide to throw away in he makes a good job of it. On the other hand ........................................... :-D

Morning YG. We have not caught up with the Downtons yet so last nights was recorded too. Life has been very hectic and today is no exception :-P. I now have about 15 mins sit with a coffee before fetching smallest Gooner from Pre School and getting lunch ready for 1pm.

CrystalTips Report 21 Oct 2013 13:55

Good afternoon all,

My broadband has been playing up again :-P

You've all been busy! I feel like wasting an afternoon on the internet but I must get a move on. I'm lucky that I've got plenty of storage space, especially in my loft which is part boarded. Just off up there now to hide my latest bargains - not new shoes or anything exciting, just some more kitchen roll and 5 litres of white vinegar.

If I'm not back later it will because of my broadband or the 36 cans of beer in the loft.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D CT

Don't fall off the loft ladder!!

CrystalTips

CrystalTips Report 21 Oct 2013 17:26

Back down the ladder safe and sound. Beer not touched, purchases hidden away along with things OH keeps complaining about - books and pottery that I may eventually get around to trying to sell.

Hope you like your new blind YG. How is your leak?

~~~~~~~~~~~ to Mersey :-) <3 <3
CT, the blind isn't new (well, I have only had it for less than a year). It had to be taken down for the refurb and as it is a big kitchen window, I couldn't wait any longer till son could come to put it back up for me, so I arranged for the original suppliers to fit it. I am really pleased that it is back up. It was like living in a goldfish bowl. :-D :-D :-D
The leaks are finally cured, thank goodness. The foreman visited today and rang the main plumber.
CT your loft sounds like ours. :-D.
+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Oct 2013 10:48
Morning all inc Mersey and welcome back Maz. Strange how Peterborough always seem to cause a problem!! Do you get a partial refund?? Good to hear that your Mum is coping on her own; its always a worry when you can’t see for yourself how things are going!
Do you know how difficult it was to choose words so that YG’s workman wasn’t described as a man who was blind? Glad you’ve got the kitchen blinds back up, and the various leaks sorted. I still think that the melamine bathroom cupboard door should have been replaced if you didn’t want it to be painted.
Good to see you again CT – who is your broadband supplier so that we know to avoid them! Our loft is also partially boarded with chipboard from about 30 years but the boards need replacing now that better quality ones are available. The trouble is there is so much ‘stuff’ up there we’d need to empty it to be able to do the work.
We’ve started the washing down process and are coming round to the idea of re-painting. Sigh.
YG Report 22 Oct 2013 11:46
Morning everyone and ~~~~~~~ to Mersey :-) :-)
Welcome back Maz. Sorry that you had such a difficult journey home. Peterborough/Grantham are a nightmare and it always worse at the end of a holiday :-(
LG, I did nod off and was extremely tired yesterday for some reason.
Feeling brighter today, but had just sat down for breakfast when the liaison officer came and stayed for ever 'chatting'. There are a couple of odd bits to be done this week, but nothing too drastic. I now have to wait for a decision from the local council as to who will be treating the damp in the kitchen. If I haven't heard anything in 3-4 weeks, then I have to contact the local council for them to carry out the repairs, rather than the damp proofing specialists, so this could be ongoing for some time to come :-0 :-0
Well done on the preparation for the wall washing/painting, DET :-) :-) I am so pleased someone else is joining me with some painting :-D :-D
(fights way through plastic sheeting)
Morning all -
Maz - hope you managed to replace those photos which Mum deleted on your Spring visit ;-). How come A didn't clear his mud up after himself? Other than that, he'd have better have kept on top of the rest of the unmentionable!
Although the room is now washed down (hence the plastic sheeting) we have decided that it does need decorating properly. OH currently has to tackle the ceiling as the tall step ladder had disappeared into the back of PC's car during the tool shed raid. A good wheeze! :-D
B&Q for paint is on today's shopping list - Diamond Wednesday and 10% off. That's one benefit that OH doesn't moan about.
YG
YG Report 23 Oct 2013 09:56
Morning everyone.
Raining here too, just when I had decided to wash the lounge curtains :-( :-(
I'll meet you in B&Q, DET!! I am going for wallpaper for the bedroom and great minds think alike regarding Wednesdays!! They had 20% off 5+ rolls as well last week, so hope the offer is still on :-D :-D
A workman is here at the moment finishing off where the pipes are boxed in behind the basin and toilet in the bathroom. A couple more leaks have appeared, one again in the kitchen and another in the bathroom cupboard, so that has stopped me painting the cupboard as it is dripping on the slatted shelf that I need to paint and I have to wait for the plumber :-( :-(
Naughty A!!! I would make him clean up the mess himself, Maz!! I am so pleased that I don't have a footie fan/player living here :-D :-D
+++DetEcTive+++
+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Oct 2013 10:04
Morning YG - Why on earth are you having water leaks when you didn't before? Sloppy plumbing or has the water pressure increased?? To a certain extent the kitchen ones can be explained by the 'new fit', but the bathroom cupboard?
Apparently there is another B&Q 'club' which gives discounts - OH brushed it off the last time we were there. Further investigation is needed
