~~~~ I'm back :-D :-D
We still don't know what the problem was, possibly some programme that snuck in with something else. Then Norton wouldn't kick in. Luckily OH thinks he has solved it by restoring to 3 days ago. Unfortunately Firefox keeps crashing meaning I've lost a lot of my passwords/favourites etc :-0
So sorry that you haven't been included in the family tea party YG. It must hurt so much. It puts your son in an awkward position if he tried to get permission for you to go. <3
Decorating finished although we are still putting the room 'back together'. The Garden has been inspected with the compost bucket and watering cans tucked away in to the shed, and the camping kettle and lantern brought in doors 'just in case' ! :-D
Being at the top of a hill, we won't get flooded, and I'm hoping the ground isn't so soggy that trees will uproot. As the neighbouring houses have had their mature trees looked at in the last 12 months, with a bit of luck there won't be any dead branches left to come down.
(been there, done that in 1987 or whenever it was)
CT - you may have got rid of your lawn mower, but will the Vac pick up the fallen leaves? ;-)
Welcome back, DET. I'm pleased that you have sorted out the computer problems!! :-D :-D
Well done on getting the decorating finished. Another job to cross off the list :-) :-)
Welcome back Det!
New garden vac / blower will sort all fake grass problems out hopefully. It's a learning curve, so far I'm really impressed about it being 'pet friendly' it's so easy to clean up after our two dogs.
It's good to have daughter home for a few days. I did my usual thing and hid behind the kitchen door and booed her when she came in. It's a bit sad that I still do it - but funny that it still makes her jump!
Morning all - we seem to have survived unscathed although it isn't going to start to calm down for another hour. The plastic greenhouse shifted a bit, but as it was tied onto the fence, didn't take off thank goodness.
The milkman must have taken his life in his hands as the bottles are on the doorstep :-D
Here's hoping that Maz' mum and LG have come through unscathed.
Only a little breezy here with a small amount of rain.
+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Oct 2013 08:34
Good to see you here LG - as you are north of the Thames, the weather maps made it look as if you were going to get the brunt of the rain. ;-)
Morning Maz - phone off for your mum and other elderly people can be a worry, especially if they use it for their 'life line'.
it is DET morning We tried to get her to get A mobile with big buttons on permanant charge but we were unsuccessful ,She is in a ground floor flat and the neighbours are excellent as rae the church folk too
+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Oct 2013 08:54
That's good to know that people will look out for her - it's if she were to fall that's the concern.
We meant to phone the in-laws and ask them to charge up their mobiles (and leave them swithched on!). We also need to check that they have a plug in phone set in case there was a power cut. We might give them a phone call later - their flat faces a building demolition site - I bet she'll be moaning about dust and debris blowing around!
Evening everyone.
Pleased to hear that all are safe and that no damage has been done. We have missed it here really. Just normal wind and howling rain, but it did brighten up this afternoon. I put everything away for nothing, but would rather be safe than sorry.
Evening YG. Glad you missed it too. as you say better safe than sorry.
Off out soon to a Historical Society research meeting. Some of us are researching our war dead for an event next year as it is the centenary of WW1. I have just discovered that one of the lads YAL and I are working on was a relation of my OH. I am entering all the records I find on my tree as well as on our record sheet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to Mersey!! :-D :-D :-D :-D <3 <3 <3

Evening LG.

The research sounds interesting. I had a relative in Oz that died in Gallipoli in 1915. He had only been in the armed forces for 3 months and was 19. I found quite a lot of interesting items about him on google that led me to other discoveries. I was amazed, as I was very much a novice when I was looking (not that I am much better now!!). Enjoy the meeting. You deserve some 'me' time. <3
