Morning all - Hope you northerners didn't get any frost to spoil the start (or end in Maz' case) day!

There are some leaves falling from the trees and the Chestnuts are nearly bare. It's just not worth going out to rake the other ones out just yet as there so few lying ones.

As our plans for the week have been messed up because of the CH engineer, I'm not quite sure what is on the cards today. Have a good one.

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone's shambles are on the way to being sorted. Any news on the CH Det?

The only problems here have been broadband dropping connection again and the car. Not only did OH leave the car unlocked the other night but he left the keys in the ignition so we had a flat battery. At least it was so icy that the doors were frozen shut so any would be burglars might have thought the car was locked

YG Report 5 Nov 2013 17:38

Evening everyone.

There was an overnight frost. but the rain solved that before I left for work!! Quite sunny this afternoon with blue sky, but cold :-( :-(

We have packed everyone off to the AGM in Oxford this lunchtime, so peace reigns for a couple of days, then it will be bedlam when they get back doing all the post conference work, on top of everything else. I am playing at being David Bailey tomorrow as I have to photograph all the staff that are in ready for making up a new directory. I have nothing better to do with my time :-D :-D :-D

Remains of a chicken casserole and feet up relaxing tonight :-) :-)

No signs yet of it being Bonfire Night. I just used to love it when I was young, with a huge bonfire in the back garden (we had a long garden with no-one behind us, so no problems!!) Mum used to do jacket potatoes, soup, sausage rolls and yummy cakes and the couple that owned the local post office down the road used to bring some of the big fireworks that they had not sold. They were great times :-) :-)

I used to love bonfire night too (but not for long :-( )

When I was little our next door neighbour's son was in the fire brigade and he would turn up in the fire engine to our house - not to put out the bonfire in our back garden, but just turn up (men in uniforms YG ;-) )

In my younger days there were always warnings on T.V. - photos of children who had been burned with fireworks the previous year. Horrific! Instead of fireworks when I was about 7 years old I asked for 'The Sound of Music' L.P.

These days I still worry, and will only go to organised displays

Evening one and all. Quiet here re fireworks at the moment :-D. Peaceful as Mini Gooners have gone to bed and OH is not in yet. Catching up on folding the laundry that has been in the drier as I gave up trying to dry it between the heavy showers :-|

Morning all -

Mind you don't put your thumb over the lens YG - easily done with these new small digital cameras ;-)

CT - you really aren't having much luck with your broadband are you? How frustrating. It sounds just as well that the car thieves weren't out the other night.

Maz - did Frog have any snow up on the Moors? There was some mention of it on the news. I'm still amazed that you & A can create so much washing!

No Mersey and her pink scooter? Has it broken down?

Although several homes in the neighbouring road must have put on a display, by the time I'd decided to go up stairs to peer out of the window, they were having a break!

As a child, and when ours were small, my parents used to have a bonfire and fireworks in their large garden. Dad was able to get hold of a few of the 'display' fireworks for the finale. Mum used to spend a lot of the time indoors tending to the 'Bonfire soup' (one of those receipes never written down and now lost for ever). She hated the large bang fireworks because they reminded her of the Blitz. I used to love playing with the hot bonfire ashes the following morning. We were very safety conscious and were never hurt although we did once have to make a run for it when a catherine wheel came off the post!

Got up 'early' today to try and shift my body clock; I'll probably end up snoozing this afternoon.

Going to Prague :-D

I've been having to have a snooze in the afternoon too! Been getting up at 2-4 am, and am trying to adjust my body clock so I can stay up later and get up later.

Just about to take the dogs for their boosters and then to the kennels.

Catch up with you all on Saturday. I hope I don't hear of any more shambles!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 7 Nov 2013 08:21

Morning all - have a good time away CT and mind you don't get caught up with the Stag Do's! ;-)

Is there any particular reason why you get up so early - such as a historical early starting job for either you or OH? It must be awkward beginning your day then as you can't make too much noise if other people are still sleeping.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the spare part has arrived today so that the CH guy can fit it. At least we are warm and don't having to wash in cold water.

YG must have been shattered with all the post-conference extra work yesterday, and the patter of tiny feet is taking the toll on LG. :-0
