Evening everyone :-)

LG, well done with the walk last night :-) :-) :-) Every little bit extra helps to build up the strength in the muscles :-) :-) No tiredness or stiffness today either :-) :-)

DET, did the flow take you anywhere or have you had a day at home pottering? It will nice to get the new fence panels in. Have you had a lot of clearing to do ready for the installation?

Maz, nice to hear that you are finding some relaxation time. It was very cloudy and overcast this morning, but the sun finally broke through this afternoon and it is lovely now.

I need to go out and get M's b/day present tonight. I am waiting for all the work traffic to get home so that I can go to the retail park. They are open until 8pm and although I don't particularly want to go out again, needs must!! If I don't go tonight, it will have to definitely be tomorrow :-D :-D

Ann must be busy sunning herself. A colleague is in Tenerife this week and sent a photo when he arrived (iust to rub it in!!) and the weather looked lovely :-) :-)

I had a telephone conversation today with a car salesman. No specifice car in mind, it was information I was after. I wanted to know would it be a legal adaptation / modification, if the plastic for want of a better term, left and right of the steering column were removed, giving more room for to accommodate this man's leg.
He appreciated the problem and understood the question, but didn't commit himself to a yes or no answer.

Evening all, just back from todays session in the Belfry another one tomorrow morning :-D :-D :-D.

Typical car salesman David :-D :-D.

Good idea to wait for traffic to clear YG, my journey home tonight was horrendous thanks to them digging holes again :-| :-| :-| :-P.

Busy as ever Maz :-D :-D

What sort of day did you have DET :-)

YG

YG Report 5 Jun 2018 17:48

Evening LG :-)

Roadworks are enough to make anyone swear, LG :-0 We have just gone through 3 months of new sewers being put in so the road was closed and I had a long diversion to get to work with all the additional traffic that caused. It finished last week, thank goodness. Now I can get to work in 10mins and not 30 mins :-) :-)

David, what sort of car salesman? From a dealership or a private used car sales place?

YG

YG Report 5 Jun 2018 17:57

LG, just off out, will be back later :-)

Holes, either in Pot- or in Utilities seem to be the bane of most people's life. Glad your sewers have finally been finished.
What's causing your hold-up LG?

Back on the hunt for a pre-loved car David? Wouldn't it be better to talk to the people who make the adaptions? Didn't you speak to someone last year? They know better than anyone what is or isn't practical.
Get yourself down to a dealership so you can try getting in and out of a driver's seat; don't just 'assume' you can cos is sounds about right.

The flow took us to Sains. Knowing our luck, we'll probably end up with a small shop on Friday as well.

There wasn't much to move away from the fence, just a few pots and a hanging basket. He came round this morning just to check that his notes were correct.

We phoned the window glaziers to chase them up. Although they've had the units for over a month, I think they forgot about us!!! They are now coming on Friday...early :-0 That involves a bit more preparation ie moving smaller pieces of furniture out of the way, curtains down then putting the whole lot back together again.

We still haven't got any further about repaving the driveway, or sorting out the lose chimney bricks :-( :-(

It was a Motability car salesman at Nissan.
He wouldn't commit himself, various car insurance telephone sales-people didn't understand the question no matter how I rephrased it. DVLA sent me a lot of brochures not relevant to the question, therefore not answering it.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Jun 2018 19:17

If it was the mobility salesman, he'd arrange for adaptions which would still be acceptable as road-worthy. Wouldn't it have to be re-registered with DVLA?
Once that was done, any insurance co can access the database with the reg no, and give you a quote.

The holes are being dug for utilities for new housing that the town could do without :-|

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Jun 2018 19:24

Its difficult, isn't it LG? We don't want our locality built on, but people need to live somewhere. Its the 'affordability' that makes me laugh - in the SE or London Commuter catchment area, they are still too expensive for a young family.

David

David Report 5 Jun 2018 19:29

I understand your post Det, but I wasn't planning on buying a new one.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Jun 2018 19:36

He'd still be able to help if you bought a used one through his outfit. Don't forget they probably take other makes in part exchange & have to sell them on. As most dealerships have a service department, they'd be able to adapt any suitable vehicle at your expense.

Don't try and cut corners & buy something unseen or off EBay.

They are already building a huge estate and I mean huge on one side of the town. The objections we have is they are building some houses metres from a very old historic building which is a one off carpenters workshop unique for many miles around. The town itself cannot cope with the traffic now and it is now getting worse day by day.
Rant over :-|

YG

YG Report 5 Jun 2018 20:08

I totally understand what you are saying, LG. Our town is spreading like crazy and house are cropping up everywhere. At least they have opened a new link road at our end of the town that has relieved quite a bit of the congestion, but the north of the town is horrendous. I never go there :-( :-( :-(

The new sewers, believe it or not, were laid right at the side of a brand new housing estate that they have only just finished. Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the sewers in first :-S :-S

David, DET is right, you need to go to a reputable company, even it costs a bit more initially. We know you are fond of E-Bay, but it is not the place to look for a car, particularly with your needs.

DET, you are going to be busy on Friday :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 I hate taking down curtains and re-hanging them :-(

They are filling every little gap between historic buildings it really riles me. It would not be so bad if they blended with these but they stand out like sore thumbs and ugly ones at that.
Our village is getting as bad and still they go on building. Our kids can't get places at the schools in a 5 mile radius now and as for the doctors well I rest my case :-|

Oh and none of these are social housing they are all huge 4 +beds at very high prices that usually stand empty for ages
