We have a Grade !! listed theatre that was built in 1899. It was situated at the end of a street directly opposite the railway station, but with road improvements, the interchange and the shopping mall it is now squashed at the side of the ring road that runs in front of the station and alongside the back of the mall facing the back of Sainsburys. The developers need shooting :-0

I will second that YG. I look at old photos in the Belfry a lot and am horrified just what so called modernisation has done to very old buildings

Evening all back in from meeting
Its a lovely evening ,i would be bored if i was idle ,i see you are mentioning my pet topics
Roadworks there is one area that they always dig up why cant companies check when a hole is dug to see if anyone else needs to use it
Errors on here every time i post
Town centres are empty the empty shops are being repurposed for flats in darlo as well as office blocks too .there care derelict terraces in our area that need either demolishing or creating learning projects for apprentice's and then allowing them to rent or buy at a lower cost .

Evening Maz :-) Oooh, don't mention utilities and holes in roads!! They do exactly the same here, dig it up, fill it in, a few weeks later, someone else comes along, digs it up, fills it in and on it goes >>>>>>>> :-( :-( :-( :-(

LG, the council have allowed most our beautiful old buildings to be demolished and built monstrous concrete and glass structures in place of them. It is enough to make you weep :-(

Right, I must be off. I have a few pots to clear away before I go to bed :-0

Sleep well, LG :-) <3

Evening Maz, the town shops are closing and all that seems to move in are coffee and food shops. No wonder obesity is becoming a huge problem :-|

Nite nite YG catch you tomorrow <3

Morning all

We’re lucky....for the time being....as we’re surrounded by green belt agricultural land. The nearest town is in a different borough & is physically restricted by a dual carriageway. Of course that can all change in a few years.

There’s a lot of building going on in our borough on brown field sites, which is as it should be. The last major development in the village was on the site of the old secondary school, sold off to fund building the new one. Although a lot of the homes are the Executive types, there are a few ‘shared ownership’ ones.

One aspect that constantly rears its head is the lack of facilities. Sure, some of the new estates include a primary school, medical centre & possibly corner shops, but they’re the last thing to be built!

Fencing people have been here for about. They were having such trouble removing the concrete 'spurs' that they've had to resort to a pneumatic drill. We'd come to the same conclusion about an hour ago! :-D

afternoon all
well it was a busy day
,I have enjoyed it though ,I enjoy doing lunch on Wednesday as it brings us all together
It could well develop into a lunch club at the rate it is growing though lol
I am back on day shift in the morning but its one of the nicer shifts to do so I do not mind really

YG Report 6 Jun 2018 17:28

Evening everyone :-)

Ooh, DET, you must have been putting up with some noise then :-0 :-0 :-0 Have they finally managed to sort the problem out and fit the new panels?

Maz, I hope your shift goes well tomorrow. Who steps in to cook the lunch when you are working on a Wednesday or do you prepare in advance and freeze it so they can heat it up?

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jun 2018 18:10

Evening all

If they don't already, it certainly seems as if the church needs to ask for a donation towards the Wednesday lunch. There does need to be more community run activities such as that.

Yes, the fencing has been done. I'm not completely satisfied as one panel is higher than the new ones & the old one it's attached to. They said they couldn't dig down enough to lower the gravel board. Possibly the old cement was in the way? Should have tried harder!!
The herb garden has taken a bit of a battering, although they are cheap enough to replace. We're not sure if the 2 x new lavender plants will come back either.

In laws tomorrow (diabetic eye scan) and windows on Friday. We-do-not-like-getting-up-early!!

YG

YG Report 6 Jun 2018 18:46

DET is not a happy bunny :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

When my fencing was erected. they couldn't get low enough to hide the concrete for the concrete support, as next door's garden is a little higher than mine, so I have a lump of concrete that is visible round one of the supports. At least it is down the side of the shed, but it drives me mad :-0 :-0

What time is the alarm set for tomorrow morning??

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jun 2018 18:51

Not as early as today. We need to leave about 10 so up by 8.30. Friday will be the same as today c 7 am. Yes, we know you get up a lot earlier to go to work, but normally we get up when we wake up. c 8.30 for me and ????? for him!

Behind the shed isn't too bad. Are you going to paint the fence or leave it this time?

YG

YG Report 6 Jun 2018 19:14

No the fence doesn't need painting. It was installed a few years ago and was done then. It has stayed good, perhaps because the panels were tanalised before they were installed.

Evening one and all, it's been a lovely day here and I was hoping to get in the garden but it was too hot for me. Only just got on here after trouble with the hub which decided it did not want to reset. At the forth attempt it gave in and sorted itself :-D :-D

Helloo
If I am at work weds YG then someone else will step in .
i am just used to cooking more than others.
The group we work with are on job seekers but recycle food that is left at shops so we get a mix of products to work with .
I have just watched a sparrowhawk devour a bird in my garden possibly a starling .
My washing is drying well outside too so Apart from not cutting the grass I have done well today.
It has not been very warm here today until about 4ish

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jun 2018 20:16

Did it learn new swear words LG? :-D
We must have had it cooler than you. For the short amount of time we spent outside this afternoon, it was definitely cardigan temperatures.

YG, what happened about the front fence which got knocked down? Did it get replaced?

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 6 Jun 2018 20:18

It most certainly did :-.
My back garden is a very sheltered sun trap :-D :-D

YG

YG Report 6 Jun 2018 20:20

Evening LG and Maz :-)

Oh, poor little bird. One caught a sparrow hiding in the hedge some years ago and it was awful. I felt really guilty because I had put some food out and it was trying to hide. The squawking was terrible :-( :-(

LG, give your hub a strict talking to and smack it. As if we haven't got enough problems on here, without the hubs starting to play up. I hope Sweet Pea isn't there :-( :-(
