Evening Maz and YG
I love watching the sparrowhawk that hunts around here. Gruesome but fascinating.

:-D :-D

DET, yes the fencing was replaced last October after a long drawn out battle with the council and putting in a complaint :-0 :-0 I was annoyed at the weekend, as someone has broken off one small piece at the top on one vertical slat. Goodness know how they have managed it :-( :-(

Morning all

YG, how strange your fence got damaged. Could it have just followed the wood grain? If it’s realy worrying you, perhaps a touch of paint/creosote would help it blend in?

Woke up at 4, 6 the. 8. How strange is that? It could have been the rise in humidity when the rain fell.

Maz, your Wednesday lunch sounds a worthy project. How much notice do you get for the available ingredients?
There is so much the general community could do to help each other. Unfortunately most do require some financial input such as your suggestion of retraining while renovating houses. Another could be teaching people to cook interesting meals using food bank ingredients.

Have a good day!

Good morning, distracted by TV, forgot what I was going to post . Never mind.

Afternoon all. Really hot here today and clear blue skies and sun. Yesterday evening it rained heavily, no drainage in the roads so water was gushing down the road and a couple of inches deep in places. Luckily we had waterproofs and there are a couple of golf umbrellas in the flat but we were a little damp arriving at one of the only restaurants that has indoor seating. Today you would hardly know it rained all the flooding disappeared overnight. We are indoors in the cool at the moment having walked almost 4 miles this morning and had a tapas lunch in the square earlier. Daughter and partner have wandered off to the community pool.

Been a sunny day here. New neighbour's doing a lot of internal work by the sound of it.

Noticed while shaving I'm rapidly going very silver gray, beats going bald ?

Silver grey can look very distinguished. Don’t knock it, David!

Ann, sounds as if you’re having a good time despite getting wet. Didn’t you fancy cooling off in the pool? Mind you, there’s plenty of time yet. ;-)

Parental visit went OK. MiL had a hissy fit over taking her walker into the clinic room. She was quick enough to grab it back after she’d had her retinal scan!
She seems have forgotten, or hasn’t been told, that she’s recently been diagnosed with dry macular degeneration. It’s age related.

Evening everyone :-)

DET, hopefully with dry AMD, your m.i.l. wont need to start with injections yet, I'm not sure whether they would risk doing them at her age as there is a risk of causing a stroke.

David, do we have to rename you 'the Silver Fox' now :-D :-D :-D

Maz, you are lucky with your day shifts this week. Make the most of them before your sleep shifts start :-0 :-0

I have worked overtime tonight and then went to the pub with the guys to celebrate with a colleague who was leaving. I didn't get home until after 7pm so did a quick salad and am now sitting with my feet up :-)

Ann, you sound as though you are having a lovely holiday It's amazing how quickly the heavy rain can disappear!! I hope you don't have too much more :-)

You stop out, you :-D :-D

I checked with SiL - if the optician did tell MiL, she's forgotten. They might have recognised the mental confusion & just told 'her carer'. Its in its early stages but, at 93, when do you say enough is enough? According to online sites, injections won't make any difference. Her 87 yr old sister has recently been diagnosed with a variety although we don't know if its wet or dry.

David - there's a Jasper Carrott joke about that. His theory is that hair migrates from the scalp to other facial orifices ;-)

Maz - fingers crossed for a dry tomorrow so that you can cut the grass. Its certainly been humid but not too hot.

evening all, not long back from WW and now having tea. I have got to phone a poorly friend in a minute to see how she got on at docs

YG

YG Report 7 Jun 2018 20:37

Oooh. DET, I worked through lunch and an hour and a half over, not leaving the office until 5.30pm, so only spent just over an hour at the pub and had one orange juice :-D :-D :-D :-D

Funnily enough, M, V and C arrived for a meal as R is away tonight, but I couldn't see them when I left. I think they were tucked cosily into a cubicle. I had originally planned to join them, but it took a bit longer than I expected with my colleagues, so they would have already been served by then.

LG, I hope your friend got on ok at the docs :-)

I am better now and less sweaty ,I always feel so manky after a day of work ,especially in various homes where cleanliness is often compromised
Hope all the eye issues settle DET i agree when does one say enough is enough ,my mum needs eyes looking at hearing aids but wont show the letters so we cant then do anything about it .My aunt has almost given up with it all .

YG

YG Report 7 Jun 2018 21:04

That's a shame, Maz. as your Mum would perhaps find life more fulfilling if her hearing was good. Rather like DET's m.i.l. it may be too late to do anything constructive about her eyesight, depending on the diagnosis, but even better hearing has to be a great improvement. Your aunt must get very frustrated with it all when she wants to help but can't :-0
