Morning all, no DET my old neighbour has not moved his stuff out yet as there is a hold up with carers to look after him in his new place. Also he has got to get loads of repairs done as the house is in an awful state.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Jun 2018 09:49

How does that work then? Most landlords accept that there’ll be repairs & redecorating to be done. A landlords insurance would cover accidental damage like a football through the window. We were even asked to fit a dripping tap!

LaGooner Report 14 Jun 2018 10:11

He has drilled huge holes through walls, got illegal wiring, broken sink (which is a tenants responsibility) loads of shelves and laminate flooring all of which either must be removed or repaired.Housing associations are completely different from private rentals and we have a list of things we must keep in good order. His garden is like a scrappy too so there is a lot of work to be done. If we ever leave this house we will be expected to leave it in the good order we took it on as.

hello there
tennants should pay for repairs ours all have to they sign an agreement ,around here they pay a bond so most lose that but it still does not cover costs of repairs in many cases .
It is getting less rough now the result is that upstairs got a going over and also the Ironing .I am just waiting for a parcel then I am going try and get my hair cut

My goodness, your neighbour is certainly a bodger! I was assuming it was the normal wear & tear, not massive holes in the wall. How did the sink get broken? You’ve said that he’s not 100% fit & his wife died a while ago. Could they have fallen on it or used it as a support? Leaving it in the same you found it sounds much like military housing. It’s not easy turning a rental with such restrictions into a home.

Glad the wind has died down for you, Maz. It’s quite pleasant now the drizzle has passed & the sun’s come out.

Evening everyone :-)

What a strange day weatherwise!! A little rain overnight, but nowhere near enough to consider the garden watered, then humid today with sunshine, cloudy spells and a strong wind, but no damage done.

I have a tenants handbook that lists all the things I am responsible for maintaining, as well as those things the council does (in it's own time, unless it's an emergency). When I have shuffled off this mortal coil, R will have to ensure the decorating is good inside, the loft is empty, the garden is clean and tidy and remove all the carpets. They do not give any rent free weeks to complete the job so R will either have to fit it all in straight away as well as coping with funeral arrangements, or pay the rent to hold it for as long as necessary. Considering the state of the bungalow when I moved in it seems rather unfair. A bit ironic when I am still waiting for the council to come and fix the flue that is supposed to be put me at risk :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Evening all.He is separated from his wife DET she is very much alive as I know her well. He is just a very careless bloke I think he dropped something in the sink if I remember right :-D. He put holes through the wall to put electric cables that draped all across the hallway and lord knows what he has done upstairs.

We have the same tenancy agreement YG they do very little maintenance now compared to when we moved here 34 years ago.

Just going to grab some tea as I have not been long back from WW and my stomach thinks me throats been cut ;-) :-D :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Jun 2018 09:48

Morning all

Hope you have a good day out, Maz. Is there a specific reason for going or ‘just because’?

Interesting comments re social housing etc. I suppose the socially inept have to live somewhere. Possibly only pressure & offers to help from the community would make any difference. Even then you’d get those who can’t see what they are or aren’t doing is ’ ‘Wrong’. It doesn’t help when Councils make a charge to remove large items. Many people can’t afford it.

Not sure what we’ll do today. I might suggest we replace the herbs that got crushed by the fencers.
