Hi Maz :-) I'll keep the broomstick ready, although I will have to bring fur as well, as I am looking after it all day tomorrow and overnight. I wonder if I can rig up a small extra seat on the broomstick :-D :-D

Evening LG :-)

Well done you :-) :-)

I went for a facial and head massage after work, then had fish'n'chips and I am feeling quite relaxed tonight :-)

Unfortunately I have to be up early tomorrow morning >>>>>> Saturday >>>>>>> eek!!!! I have to see the optician for a referral as my eyes are being naughty again and I need to get the bus into town as I may have drops in my eyes. I have to be dressed and in my right mind to leave here at 8.45am :-( :-(

We are quite familiar with Winchester as daughter lived not far from there for about 20 years. Coming from Farnham it was only a bus trip away when I was young. They apparently charge £15 to go in the cathedral now. Yes the river walk is lovely. Grandson and his partner both work there too so we hope to catch up with them

Sorry to here that YG I hope all goes well for you.

That is a lot of money to enter the cathedral and a lot of others charge too. I think they would get more visitors if they dropped it a bit. That is the very reason we would not go into Canterbury Cathedral.

YG yes I did get the card made so I am pleased about that.. Sorry to hear your eyes are giving you problems.

LG we won’t go into the cathedral,we went in when it was free years ago. Gloucester has an honesty box, I have to admit last time we went in we bypassed the box as we were going to the cafe for coffee. We then wandered round the cathedral and I just put a couple of pounds in on the way out. It goes against the grain to pay to go into a church.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Jun 2018 21:38

That is just how we feel Ann, I have always put contributions in a box as the upkeep must be horrendous but I refuse to pay that much for entry

Hello Elizabeth. I hope you are well and enjoying the lovely weather. Wishing you a lovely restful weekend in the sunshine :-)

I think £15 is rather steep for looking round the cathedral. If I remember rightly, York Minster has started charging and there are two rates depending how much you want to see and whether you visit the Tower. The charges are £11 and £16. That makes it a very expensive visit for a couple and much worse for families. They argue that it costs £23,000 per day to run the Minster :-0

LaGooner Report 22 Jun 2018 22:08

If you visit Lincoln Cathedral it is free at certain times but donations are always welcome. This is by far my favourite with strong and happy memories for me.

Should you ever come north, you can have a wander around St Nicholas Cathedral

or St John's Church, or St Andrews Church for free (donations always accepted)

and from there, if you travel 20 miles west to Hexham there is an excellent Abbey

complete with the relics of the Venerable Bede.

Morning all

YG, hope the news at the opticians wasn’t too disturbing. X

David, if you’re concerned about the family finances, have you tried sitting down with Ellen & discussing a spreadsheet or bank statement? You could also mention to the cowboy that your funds are running low. He might be a bit more circumspect with what he charges when he realises you’re keeping an eye on outgoings.

BM & J were married in a church associated with Hexham Abbey! It was where the Abbot used to go for a bit of peace & quiet :-D

We once broke our journey in Winchester but only for a couple of hours. We weren’t prepared to pay the cathedral entrance fee for a flying visit. Many will waive the charge if you say you’re going to pray. Personally I prefer an honesty box like our Rochester Cathedral uses. As LG points out, high charges stop many families from visiting an historic building. Many date back to the Norman invasion.

Not sure what, if anything, we’ll do today. What ever you plan, have a good one.

Afternoon everyone :-)

I got the referral to the eye clinic that I needed. She said I have caught it quickly before the bleed has got worse, so as long as the hospital don't mess around, I should get it sorted quite quickly. The optician was fazing the referral to them, but was quite astonished that the clinic has never give them any information or updates since I started treatment in 2012 :-0 :-0

I was up with the lark, bed stripped and two loads on the line and vacuumed through before I went to town at 8.45am. Managed to get R's b/day card and paper in the mall. I didn't need any eye drops for the examination so was able to drive when I got home, so did a quick food shop and picked Poppy up for her overnight stay.

Just had lunch (shard with fur!) and now going in the garden to make the most the the weather :-) :-) :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Jun 2018 18:00

YG , is the bleed associated to your existing condition, or something new? If the former, I'm surprised you couldn't self refer. You're right though - one hand doesn't get told what the other one is doing whether its from an ophthalmologist/optician or GP.
Hope you're enjoying your quality time with the Fur. Has she dragged you off for a walk in the park yet??

OH has been rebuilding the window frames for the shed today. As its taking longer than expected, it'll be a 2 day job. Just as well we don't have a forecast for rain anytime soon!
I've been tackling another patch of Elder and Ivy. The soil is so hard that clumps of it are going in the bin rather than trying to tease out the roots.

While talking to the neighbour over the proverbial front garden fence, a Hen and Chick Pheasant wandered across. We called to our neighbour the other side who pointed them out to his girls. His youngest, not quite 3, was scared, thinking they were 'coming after her' and hid behind Daddy's legs :-D

YG Report 23 Jun 2018 19:59

Evening DET :-)

It's the original complaint and I was surprised in the first place when the hospital discharged me. Hopefully a couple of injections may solve it, but I'm not holding my breath, as it may need another full round of seven :-(

I have been for a long walk in the park with fur. She loved it and wasn't a bit tired when we got back, but I was :-D :-D She was very alert in the garden (on a long retractable lead and sat watching the traffic and people passing by. She doesn't see anything like that like at home as they live in a close away from any main roads.

You are not going to be going anywhere tomorrow then!! The work plan is fixed and it sounds as though you will be removing more elder and ivy while OH is doing the shed ;-) ;-)
