OH's wanting to sell this and buy a detached in the adjacent street :-)

LaGooner Report 1 Jul 2018 19:49

Off to the store tomorrow as my poor garden is past the watering can stage now. My neighbour's is in a bit of a mess at the moment but the heap of rubbish is off to the tip on Tuesday. He has to be moved out by the 8th I believe he told me.

YG Report 1 Jul 2018 20:04

I am tempted to get my hosepipe out as there is not going to be any rain at all here for at least the next five days. The borders could really do with a soaking. The grass can wait as it will recover.

David, if moving to the new house gets you away from the problems in the current one, courtesy of your cowboy builder, why don't you consider it, as long as you don't let him do any work in there!!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 1 Jul 2018 20:40

Go for it YG :-D :-D :-D.

I would move David and as YG says keep the cowboy away

YG Report 1 Jul 2018 21:59

I've chickened out, LG, but only because it is now a bit late to be messing about with the hosepipe. It takes me ages to recoil it and I can't be doing with it tonight. Tomorrow is another day and I will give the borders a soaking tomorrow evening :-0

I am just going to catch the news, then off for some slumber. It seems a bit cooler tonight. so here's hoping for a comfortable night for us all :-)

Sleep well, LG and don't be too naughty with the bats tomorrow :-D :-D <3

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 1 Jul 2018 22:20

Nite YG no bats tomorrow as we have our outdoor meeting. We are going to the church where MIL and FIL were married and OH was baptised so must remember my camera. Bats on Tuesday and Wednesday :-D :-D :-D. Sleep well <3

Good morning, Tom Mix regards himself as "the clerk of works" and I fear Ellen's
financial advisor. What a difference a leg makes.

LaGooner Report 2 Jul 2018 08:51

Stand up for yourself and tell him in no uncertain terms where to go David.

Morning all, hot here already :-|

Morning all

David, have you thought of contacting someone from the Council? I’m not sure if it would be trading standards or building control. If someone could give you impartial advice on how much the various jobs should have cost, you’d know if he was giving a fair deal. It’s obviously eating you up but, unless you split your assets, I’m not sure what you can do. <3

YG, we are spend thrifts, aren’t we :-D we’ve been careful with money all of our lives. Now it’s time to live a little while we’re still in good health. Like our Cornish friends friend, we could drop dead tomorrow. It’s a balancing act of planning for tomorrow & living for today. We’ll be a long time dead!

Another hot day. They do say there’s supposed to be a cooling breeze. All the more reason to slap on the sun cream. Hope you can get the hose pipe sorted out today LG.

LaGooner Report 2 Jul 2018 09:24

Morning DET, I will be getting the hosepipe sorted soon after washing out the bins and getting the laundry on the line. Have you got anything planned for today :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Jul 2018 09:50

Morning LG.

No firm plans. I do need to get a birthday card in the next couple of days but it’s difficult when we’re joined at the hip.

The bedding could do with changing although that’ll have to wait until I’ve had a shower. As I’ve mentioned before, the shower would be ‘robbed’ of water if the washing machine is on.

AnninGlos Report 2 Jul 2018 10:52

Good morning from hot gloucester. OH at golf I have a sympathy card to make. Anyone remember Caz from Cumbria, her beloved Mum has just died, she was very close to her Mum.

As we are not supposed to use hose pipes I am throwing as much used water on the plants as I can.

Other than the card making and checking the end of month household accounts and sorting out stuff to pack for 4 nights away I am not doing much else. One load of washing almost done, bedding etc was done yesterday.

I know all the tradesmen for miles around. I even hired John Wayne to put a flight of stairs in. That's before I "knew" him. He's as thick as thieves with my in-laws. Then I
wrecked my leg and got a disease in the bone. From then he "sold" a plan to Ellen.
Has disregarded me since.I've reported my "fears" to my solicitor several times, but
how do you trace cash ? If he were to repeat it in another bungalow our solvency is
short lived.I might deserve it in some way, but Ellen doesn't. Before Lee Van Cleef in this bungalow was Paul Laine, cowboy, took her for £6000, before him was Garbut
and sons took her for £4000 The current cowboy if the bank statements are correct
has taken her for a multiple of the sum of Laine and Garbut. It's absurd. Ellen was
the sole beneficiary in her Mother's will which is a major reason why I'm ignored.
It's not good. I'm gullible and Ellen's naive. The current cowboy acts as clerk of works :-0 :-(

AnninGlos Report 2 Jul 2018 13:07

David, Maybe it is time to let it go. If it is Ellen's money, and assuming she is of sound mind, I don't think there is anything you can do, except maybe make sure Ellen is aware that you are concerned. Is your present home in both your names? If it is she will be unable to sell it to buy another one without your signature.

Have you tried contacting a recognised building firm to get an idea of what the jobs would have cost?

Afternoon all, just sat down after filling holes in the wall. This bright spark decided to take the dado rail off the wall in the hallway, stairwell and landing. :-0 :-D
