Hi all, we are home, left Lee at 0911 and got home at 11.30, travelling early to avoid the hottest time and to get home to sort out the garden, which seems to have survived.
We had a nice time in Winchester with 7 of our friends, 2 couldn't make it in the end. Hotel was very good although the admin side was not that efficient, they suffrered from left hand right hand syndrome, neither knew what the other had done (or not done), still we had the two days at a special price for ex military so can't complain.

We then had two nights in Lee on solent which was great. The weather as you know was lovely and the beach was packed, not only both days but this morning at 0915 as we left for home, we couldn't believe how many people were already sitting on the beach. they must roast.

What was lovely on Saturday was to see the number of groups of young teenagers who all arrived on bikes to sit on the beach together, it reminded me of when we were that age and used to do exactly the same, some things never change. We did much strolling and sitting watching the sea while cooling down with an ice cream.

On Saturday we went to Gosport to see the ships including HMS Elizabeth back from her sea trials. We met up with two of the friends who had been in Winchester and had coffee with them.

Sounds a lovely trip, you should have met up with Maggie!

Hiding here from the overheated RR on other threads LOL.

Det.....not chilly lovely and fresh, when it's in the 40's I tend to stay inside as much as possible no point getting sick just for the sake of it.

We went out for a little walk around. The sun was beating down. It felt like hot pins on my arms.

I didn't used to feel the heat like this.

I am turning into a poor little flower, wilting in the sun.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Caroline, yes it would have been nice to meet up with Maggie but we really wouldn't have had time. all day Thursday (our only full day) we had the expert guidance around Winchester by one of the official guides, unofficially (i.e. free), she is a friend of a friend. Very knowledgeable and interesting and, even though I was familiar with Winchester in my childhood and youth, I learnt a lot from her. We met her at 10.15 and got back to the hotel just after 4pm in time to meet up with Grandson and his fiancee who work in Winchester.

Apart from cleaning the inside of the car, I haven't done anything. I can't cope with this heat. We have had 46% humidity here today, even though there was quite a lot of white cloud. It is so stuffy. I am a grumpy old woman :-| :-|

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 8 Jul 2018 20:10

Evening fellow nutters it is very humid now I have watered the garden ,
Ann I glad you have enjoyed your break .
I am enjoying not having to wear loads of clothes however summer washing creates more ironing I find which is a pain
I have also noticed that we have loads of spiders in the area little ones but the webs are all over .

.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 8 Jul 2018 20:28

I haven't done the watering yet but will do it soon before Poldark starts

Don't mention eight legged beasties, Maz :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 They shouldn't be around indoors yet. it is warm enough outside for them :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 There was one in the corner of the lounger earlier on, but it was one of those with a tiny body and very thin legs so it can go back where it came from and stay there :-D :-D

I need to water the garden, but can't be bothered tonight It's the effort of winding up the hose that bugs me. It goes hard when the cold water has run through it and it is a s*d to do :-0 :-0

I may need to cut the grass as the growth is uneven so where the green bits are its long .it is due to cool down tomorrow which will help
