FGS! Wish you'd make your mind up! Changed my mind from fleece to rain jacket...and now what to do? At least I've got a jumper on and bags the radiator if it is cold :D

Off to the station now - worried about the road route as the road was closed unexpectedly yesterday and there still doesn't seem to be much passing traffic.

Well they're off. Hope the weather fines up for them. Should do it was a nice day here in Oz and I've catapulted some of the sunshine over to that part of the globe.

DET you are running for the head comedian's position. OH only does his garden. Not a chance that he would lift a finger in any other garden. I cleared a huge (well it seemed huge) area of shrubs, creepers and fallen over small trees today, and then loaded it onto a trailer. My fingers are so sore from cutting, sawing and digging. Blondie worked in the backyard sawing up all the trees we pulled down last time.

The game is tomorrow and it is a home game. I will be there and hopefully we will win.
Must away have some research I need to do before I fall asleep.

The PB meet - ironic ha, ha, Bleeding ha. The meet that never was.

AS should have catapulted overhead line engineers, rather than sunshine (which also failed to appear. Lines down north of PB. YG and Maz abandoned the journey and went back towards home again. LG made it...eventually. My train out of London was cancelled so got a different operator, then LG says 'Go home!' so that's what I did, jumping off the train at Hitchin. And to add insult to injury, just missed the 4 hour cut of at the car park, so had to pay for the 24 hour parking.

As of 10 mins ago, both LG and I are in our respective homes, and YG and Maz are having a rest and eating at a town enroute back Oop Norf.

A gutted day all round.

edit at 1736. At least OH and BM will be happy - Sarries beat Leicester in the RU Premiership final...although the poor Leicester fans will have a heck of a time getting home. Those that made it to London, may not even know about the travel difficulties.

I have now had enough. Yesterday I lost my Debit Card, This morning I almost missed the train and made my knees ache like the devil rushing for it and as DET says ironically the meet never happened. :P :P :P :-( :-(. I do hope Maz and YG get home ok as the trains are still all at odds apparantly. Just having a little sit down then off out yet again to babysit the littlies. I don't think I will get out of bed tomorrow I will just lay there and bury my head =I =I

Oh nearly forgot ,I lost an Emerald out of my engagement ring yesterday. Talk about adding insult to injury !!!

Oh LG :S Sooo sorry :S At least you have had your 3 items of bad luck, although the debit card and emerald must make you feel devastated.

I'm kicking myself for not being spontaneous and either taking myself off to CoL for a wander, or going off to the shopping centre when I got back. Don't 'do' spontaneous...it usually goes wrong :D

Got to Retford, which is about 15 miles south of Donny. Sit and wait. Announcement: sit and sit and sit; Oh, a delay with some overhead wiring problem. About 20 minutes. Well, not so bad then. And wait and wait and >>>>>>>>>> wait. Oh, no idea yet how long. One hour, two hours. People out on the platform smoking, not a word from the guard!!

Ah now then, people for London to go across to platform 3 for the 12.02 to Sheffield and then the 12.30 to London St Pancras. Any coaches laid on? No, nothng coming through about that. We're going to Peterborough. Well then, you are stuck here. You've no chance. This train will be heading back north shortly. Ok, decisions, decision, do we stay in Retford and try for a train home at our normal time or what. Yes, we will. No we won't. Then, ah this train is going on to Newark and terminating there then going back north. Ok, we will go to Newark then. Don't have a choice really. We will have a look round Newark then. Get to Newark, p***ing it down with rain. Off the train, over the bridge. Big black clouds. No coats or umbrellas. Urmmmm, think we might be better getting back on the train and going back north. Get off at Donny and head for the shopping mall where we can eat and be dry. I wouldn't say we were starving by this time ...NOT!!
Get back on the train. Guard comes round. Well it will be heading north but don't know when. Could be in a few minutes, could be two hours. Mmm, problem. We are hungry! Oh we will nip in the waiting room on the platform where they are selling sandwiches. That will keep us going on our journey. YG just gets to the counter when the whistle blows and Maz is hollering!!! The train is ready to pull out.

Want I want to know is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> who the bl**dy h*ll let Sweet Pea out!!!! If it hadn't been the Nut Lodgers annual day trip, guess there wouldn't have been a problem at PB!!

Rant over!! Now putting my sore feet up!!

Hope you can claim on any travel insurance, if you took it out - take a look at the Network rail site and see if they have a 'cancelled' announcement for the train(s) you were supposed to go on. More 'proof' for any claim if you print it off to send.

Hi DET. We can claim and they gave us the forms at Donny. We found a very helpful duty manager there. Hoping to get it all the full fare back. The mix of messages that we got at Retford and Newark was appalling. I went back to the station with Maz about 5.15 to see what trains there were. She had just missed one and they said the next was at 6.22 so we sat in the waiting room. About 5.45 someone came in and said 'anyone for Darlington' so Maz got on that one. She should be almost home now. National Rail cannot say when the service between London and Grantham will return to normal.

well saga 2 gets to darlington announcement no local trains as the mainlines are busy gets train to Durham bus back to Bishop then a taxi up the street done it lol nearly went to froggies as he is near Durham

Andrew has left a bag of prawn crackers on top and cats have got them everywhere looks like snow lol

What a terrible public transport service you have. Over here as soon as they know there will be a prolonged delay they provide buses to replace the trains.

Glad you have all survived. Sorry about your additional losses LG. Have you checked around home for your emerald? Yes I would imagine you have. It might be covered by your insurance, but that doesn't make it any better.

Next time, (Aunty ducks), you can use the catapult. All that planning and effort......... Wonder if you have made the news. .... Aunty is going on line to see if there are any reports about rioting middle aged ladies stirring up trouble on local railway stations.
