So glad you eventually made it home Maz. You should have gone to Frog's - at least he would have cheered you up. ;-)

The bit you quoted AS, was the original route which affected me. The power line problem was to the north of Peterborough and south of Grantham ie a gap, meaning that YG and Maz had no chance at all getting there. Over hearing a conversation, it's a car journey of about 30 mins. And yes, the train operators can be a right shower, left hand not knowing what the right is doing. Possibly the 'ownership' of different trains and lines confuses matters. Who would be responsible for providing the coaches? BR who maintain the tracks, or the train companies who own the trains?

In one respect, I'm glad I did follow LG's advise and jump off at Hitchin....trailing jacket, bag and magazine as I went. When I looked at the train info later, for the time I was due to return - 3 out 4 in the hour had been cancelled. Can you imagine how crowded the one remaining would have been? Really not sure if I can get the money back as there was a service to PB and back, but not the one I paid for. :O

Good morning/evening everyone.

A cold, overcast, breezy day here with rain on the way. Just adds to the ambience of the weekend! Off to do food shopping when supermarket opens and catch up the unmentionable!

What an exciting day! :-(

Morning all - hope the intrepid travellors are slowly recovering. At least it is a tale to 'dine out on' for a while LOL

Now then, there is a Eurostar Ad running at the bottom of the page - 60,000 seats to Paris until Sep at £69. Anyone fancy it? It would be s*ds law we would get stuck in the tunnel - lol

B****r that DET I am claustrophobic !! =I. I wonder if the trains are running ok today. I do feel sorry for all those people that could not get to relatives for the Bank Holiday. Except for the bloomin irritating family of Mummy,Daddy and 2 simpering little brats that moaned all the way back towards London, and thouroughly peed off everybody in the carriage. Oh I did so want to get up and smack them round the ears LOL

EDIT.Trains still not running and loads of cancellations.

Ah well the dreaded beckons, catch you all later :-) <3

AuntySherlock Report 29 May 2011 11:05

Hi All, Aunty is scanning the football premiership ladder trying to decide which team she will support from now on.

We lost today. No we didn't lose, we handed the game to the opposition. The way they played was pathetic. You should have heard the comments of the people who sat near us. Not very impressed.

Oh well, I suppose it comes with taking the good with the bad and supporting them through thick and thin. Right now it's very bad and awfully thin.

Beautiful day, to make matters worse. Sun shining, birds singing and me watching a confundedly terrible game wishing I was elsewhere.

Glad to see everyone is recovering from the meet. Gizmo and Sweetpea were seen rolling around on the ground outside the CPs compound. Fair laughing enough to cry. Makes me wonder what they know.

Must away to some research. Making a bit of progress but need some info from Wiltshire so I have emailed the library there.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 May 2011 14:56

Oh dear, what a time you all had yesterday. And here was me going to moan about having no electricity then no Internet yesterday. Think I'll just think myself lucky that I wasn't with you lot.

YG, I think you tempted fate by saying you hoped Sweetpea wouldn't go with you this time.............. he was well and truly there.

In fact, I think he sprayed water on himself so he could split into 4 little gremlins and jump into each one of your handbags.

So sorry so see you lost an emerald and your card, LG.......... could your day have been any worse?

Better go and check to see if the washing's still on the line.

YG

YG Report 29 May 2011 15:28

Waaa y Haaaay Yidarmylass appeared on here this morning and I missed her. :D :O. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ for when she gets back later.

I have been trying to get my house sorted today, Still loads to do yet. Oh and I put a new line on the rotary clothes line today , it took us over 2 hours :P

YG

YG Report 29 May 2011 21:18

I bought a rotary line a few years ago and Steptoe did such a botched job of putting the ground spike in that the line wobbled all over the place. I have a traditional line again now.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 May 2011 21:20

LOL YG. Mine has just been moved into the middle of the garden and so far so good. It has not fallen over YET!!! :D. The line itself was so brittle that it kept snapping. B****y annoying :-(
