Tell me why the USA did not have birth certs before 1860. Did they have parish records. How on earth do you search for a birth before 1860???

Searching for births in the US before 1860? You cross your fingers and pray LOL
You could..........

Look for a 1860 or 1865 state census
Hope they were old enough to fight in the Civil War (Veteran records)
Contact a local Historical Society, or the County/State archive and hope that someone has deposited a family bible.
Look for obituaries.

Oh, and I've worked out how I'm related to the American visitor. He is my 4th cousin once removed - lol

hello it is raining here washing has only half dried but never mind we have as In Froggy and I been sorting out all the old tools in the coalhouse ,nails ,screws etc amazing what you keep that might come in useful lol .
I am tired though now I am looking at jobs again as things are not promising here with either of them

Jst spent four hours worrying about Muffy who had done a disappearing act! Rang Mary next door cos he sneaks in her house sometimes and goes on Mark's bed, but they said he wasn't there. I think they must have found him and put him out, cos he's just turned up!

Oh dear bloomin cats they are a nightmare. H and J 's little 2 year old black one was run over on Tuesday poor little mite. Her ginger one is pining for her it is so sad

Neither of mine ever go near the road, only ever stays in the garden or goes next door. The furthest they venture is onto the pavement just outside the gate when they see me pulling up in the car.

I don't think they will have another. I am sure Tigger will get over it in time as they are compensating with a lot of extra human fuss which he has always lapped up :-).

He's sitting in the hall now staring at me, reminding me that he wants to go to bed! He will have to wait a bit until I've watched the news!

Mine have had their tea and crept off upstairs already. Correction youngest has just appeared through the cat flap and will no doubt be off upstairs and stretching out on our bed :-)

Well shucks, I haven't won the lottery again tonight!! Looks like I'll have to work for another week! Unless I try on Wednesday lol!!

Morning all - what a grey day, and sooo humid indoors. Either that or I'm running a temperature lol. Thought we were due some rain overnight, but now they say tonight instead. Well, suppose I can get some washing on the line while there is a chance of it drying. And perhaps we should put the summer weight quilt on the bed.
