Morning all - had an early night and a good 9 hours sleep so am now raring to go. But to go where one asks? Any (polite) ideas? ;-)

Hope you can sort out your tree LG - I'm considering 'pruning' mine back to the main line and descendants as promised to offspring. We'd been discussing what we want done with our goods and chattels when we eventually snuff it - lol They've said they will keep it, but who knows when the time comes?

LaGooner Report 18 Jun 2011 10:45

Morning all, after quite a drastic pruning last night I am getting there :-(. I have been thinking ahead too and planned my departure service. I have just posted it off to the appropriate funeral directors although I don't think many of the younger members may approve of my choice of farewell song as I disappear through the curtains :-D. I don't think any of mine will keep up the tree but hey ho it keeps me out of mischief

Oh what a cheerful thought for the morning :-D :-D :-D LOL

Heavens to Murgatroid, when one reaches the grand old age of 35 does ones thoughts always turn to a serene and tasteful departure event.

I too have been thinking about my final soiree. Thinking along the lines of balloons decorating the chairs and chocolates handed out during the well written discourse on my life.

And the offspring probably won't like the choice of music or the powerpoint presentation of the lighter moments of my existence either!!

If you see RMS kidnap her and put her away somewhere. That way she won't be able to think up any more impossible searches.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 18 Jun 2011 12:52

35? Who are you kiding? lol - make it 45 and you are probably closer to the to the downward slope of the hill, then the upward.

Our discussion started because &co's grandmother died a few months ago, and she had left notes in a 'memory box' about why various things were important to her, and why she wanted them kept in the family. And it is a good idea to stipulate how you want your funeral - your last wishes and all that, although we haven't made that decision yet. I liked my mums - no flowers as they are for the living, and bright clothes. Auntie's re chocolate is a good one - chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate dip and strawberries...the list is endless.

My friend's daughter died of a genetic disease aged 21. The cousins tied helium balloons to the coffin which they released after the funeral, and all her friends dressed in clothes which reflected where they had best memories of her - the beach, night clubs etc. They did get some funny looks from the mourners for the next funeral - lol

RMS. It really is OK. Not complaining just a statement of fact as to the complexity of the task. Some searches are easy. I could have given you ten pages of info about Lucille Ball, actress. And some searches are flaming impossible.

Think of it as a challenge. I am not defeated. Squinty eyed maybe but I'm not finished yet.

Morning all; dark, damp, cold and miserable. We are coming up to our shortest day next week after which the sun will shine and the temperature will rise to an acceptable level. In my dreams!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 18 Jun 2011 22:18

By the way. Maz. I was looking through an old exercise note book I take to the library. On a page at the back of the book I have written.

Oliver. Eleanor Tilley and Roderick Carson, Alice Springs 1963.

Is that any of your lot.

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 18 Jun 2011 23:11

Looks like I've inherited the thread.
Aunty rolls out the barbed wire and the land mines and settles back onto her throne which by the way is very dusty.

Message for RMS. Have sent a request for information. Hopefully they will take pity on a poor Aussie many miles away and find out for us. If not we might have to con some of these Poms into visiting the library in St Pancras, Colindale or Boston Spa (and I have no idea exactly which one it will be).

Judging by the size of the buildings they will probably need to tie several boakins together to help find their way around, and make a safe exit.

But that is only a thought. Let's wait and see what happens.

Killer Queen deposed LG
And YG is no where to be seen

There has been at least 3 good filums on TV this evening - that's probably where they have been!

Don't mention your days getting long - that will mean ours getting shorter...and not much sign of 'summer' yet. :-0
