Yes, Auntie, I got the e-mail, still trying to get one of my Dads cousins to pay for it and fill out the form and ....... :-D

Canada has a itty bitty mail strike on,they started with rotating strikes but Canada Post didn't like that so they locked everyone out.

OK I'll ask............WHO IS SWEETPEA AND WHAT KInd of name is that? :-S

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 24 Jun 2011 22:36

YG Report 25 Jun 2011 08:52

Morning everyone.

Hope your OH is feeling more comfortable today LG. Get your nurses unform on and do your stuff!!

Maz, I am off for two weeks at the beginning of August so it would be good to meet up again lol!! I have received my refund, so need to use the vouchers really and, as I only usually have one annual outing, there is not a lot of opportunity to use them! I could come up to Darlington and if Pauline could make it too, that would be good.

Dare I suggest that we try again at half term in October to meet up with LG and DET!! I don't mind travelling to London if I can book well in advance and get cheaper tickets.

Morning everyone- where is this promised sun gone then? (puts shorts and T shirt back in the drawer and fishes out jumper, jeans and fleece) 18c is a good temp to do heavy gardening work - enjoy :-D
And 30 miles isn't far to drive for a family get together. Hope the birthday person has a good day.

Don't know about Sweat Pea going up north - I recon he's managed to get into the 'weather machine' :-0

Hope LG's OH managed to get some sleep and isn't in too much discomfort.

Heard from the American cousin via e-mail. He arrived in London Thursday and leaves Tuesday for France, then intends to drive to Rome. Reminds me of one of those old films based on a coach tour. 'If its Tuesday, it must be Belgium'!

Oct half term is fine for me if we want to try to arrange another meeting - or we could have another go at PB or somewhere further north during the summer hols? We haven't arranged anything yet, but don't intend at this stage to go away during Aug.

AuntySherlock Report 25 Jun 2011 09:53

Aunty is home, and Aunty is kna******. Spent the day deconstructing a front yard.
Picture a rectangular lawn, with two triangular patches at the top. These patches are raised garden beds. Dirt covered with bark chips, covered with weed mat covered with more bark chips, dirt and weeds and a couple of plants. The lawn has been allowed to grow over the top of the mound.

We removed everything back to the base of the mound. Stuck it all in garbage bags. About 30 of them. That sorted out the left hand side. The right hand side we had previous cleared about two weeks ago. All that was left was one shrub and a couple of stumps. Decapitated the shrub to ground level, then dug out the stump. Clank, clank, crunch.

Oh goody buried treasure. Dig, dig, dig, heave, dig. One very large boulder. Then another, then another, then a large lump of cement, two broken fence bricks and more rocks. And the penny dropped.

Now we understand why the garden has raised garden beds. The last time work was done on the house, all the builders rubble was put in a pile, covered it with dirt and three shrubs planted on it. Lazy, sneaky, individuals!!!

And Aunty is knackered.

RMS. I forgot about your postal strike. Bother! Will have to think about this. Need another strategy.

Ha, Ha - sounds like Eldest &co's first house -a skip load of broken up concrete later, they realised why there was raised decking area.....to hide the rest of it :-D

hi YG i am off Monday and Wedesdays mainly now though I can juggle some of my visits in the holidays
Darlington may be too far for Pauline we met in Chester -Le -street last time so we can see if Pauline is free too
My garden was full of rubble too when i arrived .I have just about been all over the soil now so apart from pets there are no surprises anymore . however i have to remember where all the pets are lol .

LaGooner Report 25 Jun 2011 15:24

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 25 Jun 2011 15:41

Sorry to hear that LG - perhaps you (or he) ought to take the spare bed tonight - then at least one of you should get a good night's sleep.

(still waiting for the sun :-0 )

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 25 Jun 2011 15:46

It is beautifully sunny here now but a bit breezy . I cannot sleep at all if I am in the spare bed I can't bear not having him next to me that is one of the reasons I never sleep over at Brownie Pack Holidays. :-)
