If he can't drive, he can't work.

As we are off to the 'seaside' aka Thames Estuary in the morning, I'm off to bed.

Wish me luck with the 4th cousin once removed!

Night night

I keep putting the retirement off. I figured while my brain is working I should enjoy the extra money. There is nothing wrong with my work skills, it's just that sometimes I would like to be doing other things.

Enjoy the small amount of peace and quiet Maz. Hope they are well and truly sorted out before too long.

Oh dear Aunty thinks she is coming down with something. Sneezing, and runny nose, and head feels like a ton of lead. Well that's probably just my brain!! A couple of asprin and a good lie down might help. We shall see. Offspring did offer lemons yesterday which I declined. Could have made hot lemon drink to drown the bugs.

Hi all, got locked out of here a couple of times over the weekend so gave up trying and worked in the garden instead.

Maz and YG, what week are we meeting? Looking forward to it.

Hope it goes well for DET today.

Get yourself a hot toddy AuntyS, catch it before it gets any worse.

Are you still playing nurse LG?

Let me cheer you all up with two blonde stories. Yes she belongs to me, born and bred, however she just has to have her father's genes.

Actually telephoned me with the stories and started the conversation, "well I know I'm blonde, but....."

Paid her telephone account via the phone. You know, it asks you how much you wish to pay, and you press those buttons. The account was $69.36c. So blondie inputs $693.60 and the voice repeats the amount and she presses OK. Later goes to take money out of the bank, and works out there is some missing. Checks her account, discovers the mistake and has to telephone and confess her blonde moment. Yes they will refund the money, in five days, after enquiring as to whether she would like to leave the credit in her account!!!

Second instance. Long start to story involving leaving the purse at home, needing to go to the market, someone repaid a friendly loan, so she had enough cash to do her shopping. Did the shopping, spend all the money apart from three dollars. Saw something nice for tea went back to the car scrounged under the seats, console, glovebox and raked up another $3.20. Tea cost her the 6.00, leaving her with .20c. Got in car and went to drive out of carpark completely forgetting she had to pay for parking on exit. Yes she offered the .20c to the parking attendant who accepted it as his tip, and he waived the parking fee. Now only a blonde would be able to wriggle out of that one!!!

Hi all its very muggy here now am hoping to get to the office and back without a soaking
YG has Holidays in August I think Pauline so we can pick that time if that is OK do you know how near the station is for YG ?

Aunty Hope the bugs stay at bay

YG

YG Report 27 Jun 2011 18:20

Keep those bugs down under please Aunty. I've already got one coughing and sneezing next to me in the office :-(

Well, if you can't get away with things like that when you are young and blonde, there is absolutely no hope for me :-D They would probably charge me double to let me out of the car park!!

Maz, I am off from Monday 1st August for two weeks. Any day will suit me. I have a couple of things to do tonight, but will look at what trains are like over the next day or so.

LG, did you manage to keep OH safely at home today?? :-)

Lol at the Blond one ...... we might try those various get outs using the 'dotty old woman' ruse. Well, it's worked for me! :-D

Think the Ancestral Roots tour went OK, but it was difficult getting much feed back from the 4th cousin once removed. We got on really well with his wife, as PC did with his 2 girls once they loosened up - the wife said it was a good move to bring PC.......they had a chance to talk to a 'proper English girl closer to their own age. :-)

We dropped them back at the station, but have since found out there are problems with the trains. Hope they can cope; they seem confident enough.

It was v v v hot down on the Island, but our local weather station (according to the TV) recorded the highest temp in the UK...32C!!!! Glad we weren't at home.

Keep the sniffles down under AS - we don't want them :-0

Ok even we're not that high (YET) but I know the English are wimpy :-P

Glad to hear that OH felt up to going into work for a bit. Shows them the Boss is still in charge!

Glad it went ok for you. I went out in the garden for a while and actually got the lawn cut :-0. I also bought a lovely rose this morning which I have now planted too. It is a beautiful purpely blue and the scent is to die for.

YG

YG Report 27 Jun 2011 20:58

If I don't get any tonight, I'll be a zombie tomorrow!! I'm not far off now!! I coped well with the heat in Zambia, much hotter than here, but it's the humidity that's killing here. Even the younger ones were dragging their feet at work today!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 27 Jun 2011 22:16

32 degrees. It is just not fair. It's about 4 degrees here with the promise of about 17 top today. My sniffles have not gone so it looks like I'm in for a cold at least. Oh well give me something to whinge about. Hope you all enjoy your meet. Fingers crossed that it will go a mite more smoothly than last time.
OH brought home two large frangipanni branches conned out of a local gardener. Every time he (I nearly typed "we") plants a frangipanni it dies. I am determined I will have one in the garden. Other houses have big trees of them, so OH will just have to persevere until he gets it right. So there!! Well he has managed to make his orchids flower after about six years, by following an orchid growers instructions. Frangipanni are tropical plants so our weather is probably a bit cool for them.

Must away. Have some unmentionable to do before leaving for work.
