If its too cool for Frangipani in your garden, how come other gardens have them? At least he managed to keep the orchids alive to bloom; any I've had never survive for more than 6 months.............and that's indoors.

Take care with the cold, and remember to spread it around at work.

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 28 Jun 2011 08:26

Aunty chucks another soggy tissue in the bin and quietly moans again. Moan, whinge, mumble, sniff, sniff. If I sneeze once more I'll have to go change the undergarments. I'd stick two wads of cottonwool up my nose to stop it dripping but I have to breathe every once in a while.

I really would like to spread my germs around work, trouble is about a quarter of the staff are away, '"ill". Being the only person on staff who can do what I do there is no point in my taking the day off unless I have an appendage dangling or have ceased breathing. I only have to catch up the next day. Sniff, sniff, wipe, wipe, sniff.

We have no problem keeping the orchids alive and growing. Just never been able to make them flower. Many years ago I gave one of ours to an orchid grower, she brought it back three months later in full bloom. I always said she swapped it over for one of hers!!!

Oh well off to look at the tree. I now have three separate brick walls which refuse to be conquered.

Did you not have a part time assistant to help you at work? It sounds rather dangerous not having anyone who knows how to do what you do; what would happen if your were severely incapacitated in an accident? (heaven forbid that it should happen)

Morning everyone- still sticky indoors, but fresher outside. OH isn't allowed to eat or drink for the next 5 hours - just as well it wasn't yesterday as he would end up dehydrated. :-0

AuntySherlock Report 28 Jun 2011 13:17

Ha therein lies the problem. She who was my back up is working elsewhere and only appears in my area once a week. There is a planned retirement in the offing. I am making preparations for her replacement to be trained in my job. Poor dear, however she does have her head slightly loose which is a better option in my line of work than one fixed firmly on the shoulders.

If I was seriously incapacitated the very high powers that be would find someone to take my place. This is only possible in an emergency and unfortunately a rotten head cold does not qualify.

Do you know what is seriously (what's the phrase), "annoying" me. Here I am, sick as a dog, no idea what time it is, nose running like Niagara Falls; I'm wide awake bright eyed and bushy tailed. First night I've been able to stay awake for a week, and I feel like muck. Just completed a search for someone else via an email. Now I'm hungry. Could get used to this. Aunty tries to find a dry spot on her hankie and blows nose again. I know tissues are healthier but I do like a nice clean handkerchief, OH size ones.

Scourers Marks and Sparks for Man size fine lawn cotton hankerchiefs...

...loads up catapult repaired courtesy of May's knicker elastic, and
>>> PING >>>>> all the way to Oz!

Well, the warm weather broke with a series of thunder storms - a tree is down blocking a main road, and the replacement service buses are out and about, so there must be something wrong with the rail line.

Never mind - all together now
we will overco-ome,
We will ov-er come
:-D

YG Report 28 Jun 2011 18:35

I sent the thunder darn sarf, DET!! It woke me up in the night!! Right overhead and rumbled on for a while! Thought it was coming through the roof!!

It's been very overcast here today, but a little fresher. Temperature down to around 21degs. As least I have a little more energy!

Son's b/day today, so have to show my face this evening! He works darn sarf, so I thought it would the end of the week before I could see him, and it has caught me with my pants well and truly down, because I hadn't got his present! Sent him a text this morning and he said we will home about 7.45 after we have taken the girls to the pictures! Did I have to scuttle round town at lunchtime, or what!! That will teach me to become complacent!!

Aunty, I only have a couple of 'proper' hankies, but I've sent them off for you. The elastic is getting a bit worn again, though, so hope they reach Oz!!

Morning. Still alive. Rubbed my chest with vapour rub last night. OH offered to put vapour rub on my front, but said I would have to do the back myself. I declined the offer!!! Very cold here but once again will warm up during the day.

Did wonder what Maz was hoping to do...then all became clear. :-D Probably water in the junction box - always seems to cause problems :-0

Glad you were able to rise to the occasion YG. Sounds as if Aunty's OH still has life in him, despite the occasional moans ;-)

PC should have been back from work over an hour ago - despite how old they are, you can't help worrying. And yes, we have checked for messages.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 29 Jun 2011 09:36

Just popping in to say good morning - PC got home after midnight; there was a muddle with staff to cover the night shift so she stayed on until the patients were bedded down.

Off to put washing on, then we will probably go shopping later. As OH has started the list, presumably that is his intention!

Auntie is going to bed early. The nose won't stop dripping, I skipped fitness and I need warmth and sleep.

Catch you tomorrow, hopefully.

Lots of Vit C and fluids, and a trip to the Drs if you are still chesty :-0

Take care, and take it easy. If the staffing levels have improved, consider a day off molly coddling yourself. ;-)

Hi all, just letting you know that I'm still alive........... been stuck up my tree again.

Having trouble with typing though because Sweetpea broke my backspace key. It's hard to correct my mistakes without a backspace.

What again!! I just can't cope with all these hot flushes!!!

Maz, you & pauline decide on a day that suits you both and I will fit in.

Aunty, hope the boakins stopped the draughts and that you stayed wrapped up warm.
