It must be awful, and to think the most we worry about is the builders across the road :-0

Do you think Aunty is having a lie in, or is making the most of the free full breakfast??

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 11 Jul 2011 22:15

Maz, it seems to get worse with those next door, I hope you find out when they have to go.............. and let's hope they take notice and go!!!

It's not nice here, very dull and looking like rain.

What? No LG or Aunty?

Good morning everyone - Maz that is awful. Surely 12 in that house constitutes over crowding, even if it is a 4 bedder? Apparently the Traveler culture is for everyone to talk loudly at once, and the children brought up that way find it hard to adapt to the listen and respond approach of other people. (see, some of those extra training sessions do come in useful - lol)

Hope you have a better day at work and things quieter once you get home.

Boooooooooooooo :-D. I am rather busy in the office today and resisting getting on here until later. Have a good day one and all

YG

YG Report 12 Jul 2011 17:34

Evening all.

A dry day here, but cloudy, so I am just trying to get a small load of washing done and dry before bedtime!! :-D

Maz, I feel for you with your neighbours. I am having problems at the moment too, although not with noise. My neighbour currently has eight cars parked outside and a caravan on his front housing his daughter, two little girls and a dog!! She is waiting to be rehomed by the council due to domestic violence from her partner and has a voice that grates to the very core!! When she shouts at the children, it's 'ger 'ere' at the top of her voice and it sounds like coarse sandpaper!! Her dad is always selling old runabouts but it is getting very much out of hand now, with five family cafrs and three up for sale parked on the road and grass verge. Then his family visit and drive up the pavement, parking right outside my gate. On top of that I have a traveller living across the road and although very quiet, he continually parks his flat bed transit outside my house, so between them they have forced me to park at the front of my bungalow, instead of at my side gate, so there is a risk of having the car demolished by some moron speeding round the sharp corner near me. They have already had the fence twice and my car would have been included if parked there.

I have been told that the neighbour is taking his redundancy in October, so I have a feeling that there will be even more cars then!

But, at least I get a quiet night's sleep, even though they are really stressing me out!

Oh dear YG. Are they the owners of the property or tenants ?

Mazfromnorf Report 12 Jul 2011 19:19

evening all ,
I have made some discreet enquiries today with my contacts as a support worker .Thye are going to get back to me when they have looked into it
well I have been busy today gained an hour because the phone went while i was in the office so had to do my bit .as counsellor .
There is a whole family moved in on top of the one there but travellers do pack them in so its not unusual .
YG its awful about your parking area

YG

YG Report 12 Jul 2011 20:27

Evening!

LG, they own the property, but the council do have restrictions about parking on pavements and grass verges. There is a disabled dropped kerb right on the corner of the two roads at the side of my bungalow and they always drive up there and right along the verge/pavement until they reach their house, rather than putting blocks down to drive up. I am hoping to be able to afford to have a dropped kerb put in by my side gate and have some of the hedge taken down and double gates put in. It will stop them parking in there, but I know they will use my dropped kerb to get up on the grass between our two properties!

Bloomin ignorant lot YG. I would be inclined to report them to the police for driving along the pavement and verge as they are breaking the law for sure. Our council would be on them like a ton of bricks if they drove up our verges etc !

Hello all. I am returned. Sorry about being AWOL but the going price for internet access in swanky hotels is a bit like buying the crown jewels. Yes the breakfast was scrumptious, lunch boring, and evening meals very gourmet. Aunty managed to score second place in the costume competition. Dressing up as something old. And there will be no cheek out of you lot about the ease at which Aunty should have been able to do that.

We had the coldest days here in three years. Not that I noticed from where I was.

Ipod worked better than earplugs, but I am still sleep deprived. Seems to be a global problem right now. A couple of days away from your neighbours sounds like a good idea Maz. However, I have the impression you escaping from them is contrary to what should be happening, that is, them leaving. LG your solution is very easy. Advertisement in the local paper. For Sale, assortment of pre-loved, antique vehicles, apply at blah, blah, blah. Very cheap. Then make up a For Sale sign and put it in a strategic place.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 13 Jul 2011 09:20

Morning all, and welcome home Aunty. It probably wasn't the room mate leading to sleep deprivation, but taking time to wind down from the various evening festivities! Are you going to send a photo round of your winning costume? :-D

I certainly agree with LG's suggestion about the car parking arrangements outside YG's house. Is he allowed to operate a business which impacts on the neighbourhood from home? Do you have a CPO who can decide if the parking effects the visibility at the junction?

Hope that Maz' contact comes up with some good news - failing that, is there an approachable Traveller Leader or Elder who can be an intermediary?

And to think I moan about people going off to work noisily at 0705, or the builder's vans right opposite the end of our drive :-D
