Don't risk it Maz! It is bound to rain!!!

Morning all. A new day, but the same weather - sunshine and showers. As yesterday OH spent all day in front of the golf, and I was hatching matching and dispatching until dinner time, we need to do something constructive....like going to spend some money ;-) It's a family member's birthday soon so we need to source items off the list.

Morning all.

It was sunny here at first light but now it's clouded over and looking like rain again. I've had to use the dryer for the last 3 days........... looks like it'll be 4 days now.

I was late putting the washing in today, if I'd done it earlier it might have had a few hours outside.

Aww Maz, that wasn't the surprise I was expecting, I thought it was going to be something that sparkled.

Your frog looks a bit blue.......... must be cold on that rocket... :-D

Good call, Maz. Good call. :-)

It's still dry here, but overcast and rather chilly - definitely jacket/thick cardie weather.

Shopping successful, but we didn't stay out long as my back is aching again :-0 :-(

So 3 collared T shirts, 4 Ramekin dishes and a tube of superglue, all from cheap shops - Wilkins*n and Prim*rk - we are back home.

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are okay.

Sorry to hear your back is playing up DET.

I was researching a little bit over the weekend and found some little twigs from the main branch of my tree lived just down the main road from me
about 120 years ago!

One of them emigrated to USA!

So there are more leads to follow up.

These new finds are refreshing as previously my research had got a bit stagnant.

Take gentle care all
Very best wishes
xx

Evening all. take it easy DET. Lucky you Maz can I send you my ironing :-D (pretty please).

Oh well done Elizabeth that will keep you busy for a little while. I am trying to check out and update some of my Wiltshire lot as we are visiting the county again soon and I want to try and find their resting places.

DET more replies on the gedcom thread DET.
Flaming freezing again here. Minimum will be between 4 and 7 for the rest of the week with more rain starting mid week.

Blonde One rang we last night and asked would I do some sewing for her!! Couple of curtains. I think she has forgotten how bad I am at sewing. Of course I'll do them for her, that's what mothers are for.

Off to find some breakfast. I can sit here and eat and type and read. No reason to hurry.

Morning all - thank you for your concern over my back. It was improved when I first got up, then I coughed and it went into spasm again. :-( :-( At least the disc hasn't slipped!

Thanks for the heads up re the tree splitting - still waiting for the Ohio branch to get back to me. It's great when you discover an overseas branch Elizabeth, isn't it? May be you'll meet up with a descendant one day.

Any improvement with the neighbours Maz? The landlord would normally have to give them 2 months notice - with a bit of luck, they might go travelling over the school summer holidays.

Wrap up warm Aunty, and thank your lucky stars you don't get snow. :-D At least you have something to keep you occupied at home - as long as the Blond one didn't want the curtains 'yesterday'. ;-)

AuntySherlock Report 19 Jul 2011 09:04

Dau arrived with curtains today. There is only nine of them. All I have to do is cut off the silly loopy things turn over the tops and sew two rows of stitching along the top so it makes a rod pocket.

Just lighting up the kero lantern, finding my crewel needle and white thread, settling into my rocking chair, adjusting my specs on the bridge of my nose, and away I will go. Tiny neat little backstitches like mother taught me. No, that's not quite true!! Like mother used to sew for me when I brought my sewing home from domestic science class. Thank goodness I only did six months of that class and then changed to chemistry and physics.

And thank thank goodness I do actually have one of those new fangled electric sewing machines. Not the one with the treadle but the one with the foot presser which makes it go faster.

Pin,measure. Tack, measure...and measure again! At least you don't have to line them.

To be honest, I prefer making 'proper' cutains to net ones. Eldest had narrow but long bay windows in a Victorian house. Despite asking her to hang them unfinished so I could get the bottom of the 'drop' length even, it never happened - the finished lengths were all at an angle and looked horrible! :-0

AuntySherlock Report 19 Jul 2011 11:42

Oh I know all about pinning and measuring and hanging and pinning and all that stuff. Fortunately these are just simple white plain curtains without patterns to match or anything like that. I'm going to make an early start tomorrow morning I need a rest from this research stuff.

I have struggled through a couple of hours fh with rellies from Scotland. At screaming point with "A" and other peoples trees. You know the ones where you have 16 trees all with the same info and when you go to check it out there is not one source which proves the information. Then when you dig a bit deeper you find the birth of a child with the correct father and mother's names, then out of nowhere whilst looking for something else you come across the marriage of the parents six years after the child was born. And you check back on the other "A" trees and most of them have the father dying the year before he married the mother.

Why are all people in Scotland named the same. John, James, Isobel, Ellen. STomp, stomp, stomp. Grumble, grumble.

I have also made a new decision never to find any information and save it to my computer. It will be placed directly into my tree. I keep finding stuff, saving it to the computer and then losing it. It flits off into cyber space, never to be seen again, until I don't want it or have spent more hours re-looking for it and then it pops up, "Hi, I'm here you dumbo, you found me three months ago and save me to this safe place!!!!!

I took out some credits for this research and it would have been cheaper for me to take out a membership with Scotland's People. Typical miserly mob they are, eating porridge without milk or cream.

Is that enough of my hissy fit???!!! Think I'll go make a milo and eat two fairy cakes, no better make that one.

Good idea Maz! Me time in the hols and some tree work. Might attempt that myself.

I am just sitting here spitting feathers and blaspheming over the increase in my gas, electric & water payments! And I'm in credit too!! When are we ever going to get any decreases??? :-( :-( :-( :-(

On top of that phone, broadband and rent went up a while ago, so what with increased fuel and food costs I reckon I am about £65 per month worse off and only got a measly 1% pay increase in April.

I'm fed up!!!!

Rant over!!

Evening all - Been up my tree most of the day...very fruitful it was even though they aren't direct line. Aunty - piles of print outs are my downfall, especially of baps, m's and bur's. :-0

Poor LG - sorry to hear the bad news. If you are masses in credit, you could ask for a refund on the Elec and Gas....but the prices are going up an awful lot shortly. Might be worth hanging in there for the winter months??

Do you think LG has got buried under her ironing pile???

Off to supervise dinner. Bye
