Aaaah mice!!!! When I lived in Zambia, we had mice in the kitchen, living behind the housing for the oven. There were several, but very difficult to catch. I doubt we would have known except for the two cocker spaniels who used to go mad sniffing in the bottom corner of the housing. The mice got braver and one ran out one day and climbed into the washer from underneath. The dogs were going mental trying to climb up the outer casing and the mouse was in the drum. I got the sweeping brush, stale end in first and the mouse climbed up it. I got it well balanced and tried to get to the back door, but the mouse dropped off!!! It did a runner and escaped that time, but the dogs won eventually and caught all eight between them!!

Good luck with the job applications, Maz, hope one of them works out for you.

YG Report 26 Jul 2011 18:47

Yes we will. Fingers crossed for the weather!! And a decent train service!!!

I was listening to the radio yesterday morning when I got up and they announced delays on the London KX to Doncaster line because of problems between Peterboro' and Grantham!! It was like deja vu!! Anyway, about half an hour later they said it was cleared. Thank goodness I was going to Birmingham and not London!!

Evening all - bet you are glad you aren't going anywhere near PB next week ;-)

Any news on the mice, if Aunty drops by before work work? Glad to hear everything is up to date, but by the sound of it, it's like the Forth Bridge. Once they've worked their way along painting it from one end to the other...they've got to start all over again!!!

About to be pushed off the PC - catch you later.

Morning all. And here is the news. First the mouse bulletin.

Immediately out of bed the occupants journeyed to the kitchen and inspected the traps.

Yes, both traps were there, yes the bait was still in the traps, and yes we heard the faint sounds of mouse laughter coming from behind the cupboard.

End of mouse news.

I am receiving bits of info on my Find Living Rellies thread. Must say I am surprised. Despite my very best efforts I was unable to find the info which has been posted. Oh well they do say two or more heads are better than one. Either that or I am a very bad researcher. Must say I do tend to be a bit impatient with these brick wall searches.

Are you lot off again. I hope the public transport system is in better shape than last time. I also have my toes crossed for Maz and her job prospects. Can't cross fingers because I need them for typing.

Must away. Running late again, and the advice re speed cameras is very pertinent this morning. It is our turn to drive to the speed limit today.

We had mice a few years ago, the only one that was caught in the trap was the Mummy all the babies started showing up cause they were hungry. The babies somehow broke our traps in two. :-S We catch them in a waste bin carefully carry them outside and Dad hit them over the head with his shovel. BUT we did make him take one down to the field, don't know how far he went but at least the mouse had a chance to survive. We did chase "Speedy" round the living room a few times before he hide behind the china cabinet. For all we know when we move it his little body will still be there, and there was one down stairs that we never did catch.

So Aunty stole our summer, did she! :-P We had one day of summer the rest has been cloudy, rainy, and just plain yucky :-(

I'm up! Sort off. The builders across the road must be arriving just after 8am, which as a lady of leisure is really irritating. Do they really have to slam the van doors and start up the cement mixer quite so early?? :-0

Are you putting the traps in the mices run Aunty? They like to keep to the edge of the room and concealed places.

Good to see you RMS. There is still hope for your summer. Well, a few weeks. But it isn't looking good.

Fingers crossed for Maz. Hope there is some good news soon. Don't have too much of the tipple today. Drunk in charge of a wheel chair? Tut ;-)

Good Morning all, just popping in to say hello and drink my coffee then the dreaded H word is facing me. LOL. No mice around here they don't stand a dogs chance or correctly cat's chance. LOL. We are surrounded by fields etc but they dare not show their faces around here

Welcome back RMS.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 27 Jul 2011 10:57

Maybe the mice just didn't fancy what was in the trap. Then again.......... if it's too tasty - they might just bring their friends round to dine with them.

LOL at RMS and her dad's shovel............ :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

LG our cats always stopped mice from coming in the house but the cats never went in the garage.............. so we had to use traps in there.

Have your neighbours done a runner then Maz?

YG, better get your wellies and brolly out for next week, it's not looking good.

Hi all. Quick reply before I retire for the night. Been up my tree. Nearly fell out of it a couple of times and I am peeved at these "A" tree owners who blindly copy each others info without checking it first. Went to see the people at the LDS Family History Centre today. I am visiting there next week to take a look at the microfilm things I ordered from America. Hopefully there will be some information I can use to clear up some of the mysteries.

With regard to the variety in the mouse's diet. I did discuss that with OH. He said, "don't be silly of course I am giving them a varied diet". No sign or sound of action yet and I am wondering if the great escape caused physical damage to the mouse and it too might be expiring behind the fridge.

You know if I wasn't such a softie I'd pull the fridge away from the wall and take a look.

Hi Aunty, I agree over the copiers of info that don't check it out. I found one 'match with someone in my tree only to discover, 2 children that never existed and wrong spouse LOL. Needless to say I did not use any of that information :-D.

Thanks for the weather warning Pauline :-( :-( :-P. I am off away for a couple of days next week and that's just what I wanted to hear :-S
