OK I've caught up now............... but forgot what I've read - something to do with my age I think!

Hope you have a lovely time LG and find all the dead people you're looking for.

AuntyS, have you tried chocolate in the traps yet? The mice round here can't resist it.

It was mad hot here yesterday, not so hot today but still warm and sunny........... hope it lasts till Wednesday. :-)

AuntySherlock Report 31 Jul 2011 12:14

Evening all, and a bright lovely evening it is too. Stars are shining, gentle breezes, balmy day, and the crowd got to sing the team song for the first time in nine weeks.

Oh jumping up and down in great delight. My team won. We beat our cross town rivals in the derby. The fact that they are the bottom team in the ladder will mercifully escape your notice.

Oh well a win is a win. We won't be playing in the finals so only five games to go until I can grow my fingernails back again till next year.

Tut, tut, Pauline, now who would waste chocolate on mice. I would have my fingers caught in the trap trying to steal it for myself. No, no, no chocolate they can have cheese or bread or peanut butter or all three if they wish.

What colour do we decorate the throne room. A stylish eggshell blue might be attractive with the woodwork and door frames in a slightly darker blue. Cushions in blue, cream, and mauve. Curtains in a subdued pattern reflecting the colour of the walls and cushions. Hide that can of red and white striped paint.

Very tasteful - just leaving the windows open to get rid of the paint smell. Not sure about the mauve cushions though?

How very considerate of Maz to bring in the chocolate fountain. Here are some strawberries to dip in <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3. Mmm - delicious!

Now about this mouse of Aunty's. It needs to stand on the trap and tug off the bait, so something it can nibble from afar, or comes off easily, ain't gonna work! If your mouse is a supermouse who has worked out the mechanism, then its time for the XX...poison....XX :-0

A successful trip to the garden centre. We've come up with a small affordable design involving a centre circular paving slab, and 4 circles with elipse cut out (think Gibbon moon) surrrounding it. A bit like a childs drawing of a flower head

:-D

Forgot - well done Aunty's team. Hope OH's heart could stand up to the surprise!

OH took the win in his stride. Well small limp actually. He has hurt his ankle. OH fell off the ladder while picking mandarins. He described the event like, "flying through the air". When I asked how he managed his death defying stunt he said he "was holding onto a branch of the tree which was not as strong as it looked".

Lovely weather here, it is just after 6 am and already 17 degrees. However rain is on the way.

Cushions do not have to be mauve. I could not think of the name of the colour. More pale lilac would probably be better. Soft pastels anyway. Love the chocolate fountain idea. I'm sending over one of those expresso machines. Do we have a cyberpet who could train as a barista.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 31 Jul 2011 23:19

My - for 6am, that is warm ! Glad OH only mildly hurt his ankle; it could have been a lot worse.

It used to my job to trim back a large holly bush, which involved ladders (HE always found something more important to do). The ladder twisted so that I was balancing near the top, trying to stop it falling completely. Would anyone respond my cries for help? Not on your Nellie :-(

Still, your OH isn't as bad as a friend's father, who at the age of 92 was found 'fixing his roof' :-D

Whoo hoo I am in short sleeves. It must be about 22 or so and the sun has been shining all day. Brilliant! No sign of rain yet so hopefully there is more fine weather tomorrow.

Must get out the telescope and see if it is New Zealand on our right or if France is there. Never know we might be in the northern hemisphere. I am facing north in case you were wondering!!!

Hee Haw, Hee Haw (thats laughing in French) - bonjour ma Tante. Ca va?

Sounds as if you're in for a spell of silly-warm weather for the time of year, the same as we did back in April/May. Enjoy it while you can :-) Pity it wasn't at the weekend, when you could have made the most of it.

With a bit of luck, we may be able to eat our evening meal outside today - it's normally a bit too cool at 7.30pm to do that. But we are in the shadow of buildings/trees by that time.

YG Report 1 Aug 2011 16:34

Oh dear me!! I'm like the proverbial bad penny!! Here I am again!! Hopefully for good this time!!

On Friday the BT engineer put in all new cables and connected to the box on next door's wall to heighten the cable before taking it across the road to the telegraph pole. Connected it all upm, lovely job!! Got everything working. Friday night fine! Saturday morning fine!!! Saturday afternoon >>>>>>>>> not fine!! Phone dead again!!

BT engineer (another one) visits this morning. 'Fault lies in a cable break 65 metres away. Where did your phone connect to before?', he asks. 'Not sure' says I. Off he trots up the ladder and the telegraph pole. Comes back a little later 'your line is disconnected and just dangling there and someone else is using where it was connected', says he. 'How can it be disconnected when it was only connected up on Friday? 'Someone must have reported their phone as faulty and an engineer has taken yours out to connect theirs.' I'll have to see if there are any spare lines.' 'What if there aren't?, says I. 'The underground team will have to come and lay a line for you. Could be today or tomorrow'. Rings in, comes back and says 'sorry, but your phone was connected to the wrong telegraph pole on Friday, it should be that one over there'!!!!!! I'll do it now for you!!!

So everything is hunky dory at the moment and I am live, live, live!!!!!!

Girls, please note which telegraph pole your cables connect to for future reference!!!!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Aug 2011 17:10

What a mess, but glad you are back in communicaton on all fronts.

All our lines are underground, which is fine until the rain water gets into the inspection box :-0

Did a bit of the unmentionable, and have been sitting in the shade of the garden with the suduko and OH.

YG Report 1 Aug 2011 17:25

I've been busy gardening with my naked gardener lol!! Quite a few bags to get rid off as he has been cutting the hedges for me. I have some weeding left to do but can fit it in at my leisure this week. Looking really shipshape now. Just got the unmentionable to tackle then!!

It's been a lovely day, just one short sharp shower.

Hope LG is enjoying her break. Love the new colours in the throne room, and thank you Maz for the faux fur!!

Perhaps a bit of shabby chic would go well too!!!!

YG what time you getting to CLS on weds ?

YG

YG Report 1 Aug 2011 18:59

Hi Maz, There are only two options, 9.55 or 11.53 and the tickets are expensive!!!! It will cost nearly £43.50 to CLS and 15.00 return!

It looks as though it will be cheaper to travel to Darlington, then CLS.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 1 Aug 2011 19:32

ouch thats a lot its across country though just let us know what you decide and we will meet you

YG

YG Report 1 Aug 2011 20:48

Well I've got the price down with some searching! Darlington is the cheapest option, but still have to change at Newcastle for CLS. Think I'll stick with the direct route to Newcastle, depending what they say at the station tomorrow morning. Arrival time at CLS 11.24. I will confirm tomorrow Maz.
