Evening - hope LG has got away, and not had to postpone because of the post-operative patient.

Did you enjoy your meal YG? With a cake with lots of candles? :-D

Catch you later all

Morning. Still dark and cold here. Off with the staff for breakfast this morning. We are celebrating our special "secretary type" day. Work work almost up to date so I can relax and not worry about catching up after missing the morning.

My team won yesterday. Two in a row for our caretaker coach. We did play the team below us on the ladder however it was their home game so the players did well. Came back from several goals down in the last quarter. Next week we play the second team on the ladder. The players must be really happy the coach has already left, the committee won't have to sack him again when we lose.

OH came home with a very very long set of gardening clippers. For picking mandarins at the top of the tree. He really must have hurt himself not to want to go back up the ladder. He also "found" the bottom section of an old washing machine. Someone's hard waste discard I believe. Set it up on the back verandah and planted tomatoes in it. My back yard is beginning to look like Steptoe and Son's junk yard. Oh well, so long as he is happy and we have lovely fresh tomatoes who cares.

Must away, things to do, places to go, food to eat!!!

Well, well - what a surprise - 2 games won in a row!! You did say they were mostly new at the beginning of the season and needed to bed-in ;-)

Hope OH gets on all right with the clippers. We inherited a pair which I use the cut back the top of a tall bush, a bit like these but not telescopic

http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=15529

- but it is really awkward trying to aim an 8ft pole 'just right' and pull the trigger. It doesn't help that the wretched thing keeps coming apart :-(

If he waited until you were home and could stand at the bottom of the ladder, would he regain his confidence?

Hope you enjoyed your breakfast with 'the girls'. Who paid?? ;-)

YG Report 8 Aug 2011 08:36

Morning everyone. Hope you are all well.

Aunty, I have the perfect specimen for your Steptoe's yard!! Not that I have seen him for many months (thank goodness!) but I'm sure I could get him packaged up and sent on the Ark to you!!

Had a nice meal last night and my friend's daughter joined us during the evening (just in time for dessert!) But it was marred by a family with several young children not kept under control, who were noisy and a downright nuisance later on to some people. They were letting them run wild anywhere in the pub. One toddler was asleep in the pushchair and they were still going strong at 10pm. Perhaps I am a bit 'old school' but I do not like to see children in pubs in the evenings!! They should be in their rightful place, tucked up in bed!!

Rant over!!

Good evening. Lovely day, breakfast for all of us on the expense account. Flowers and iced funny face biscuits from the kids along with a thank you card.

Done minimum of work and was so glad I did a bit over the weekend.

OH has "grasped the new concepts" of the tree cutters. However the ladder is still next to the tree. Wonder if he is standing on the ladder and using the cutters. Nope, I plain do not wish to know.

I thoroughly agree with the children dining out should be supervised and home by a reasonable hour. Thanks for the offer of another yard ornament, I'll pass thank you. Glad you OH is recovering LG.

Morning all - glad you had a good evening out YG, despite the unruly youngsters. Like, you, I don't like to see youngsters rushing around in a restaurant at any time, whether its a pub or not. If they got in the way of a waiter carrying food or plates, what a mess! Although ours had their moments, at least they knew how to behave in a public eating place.

I'm trying to imagine the 'bottom half' of a washing machine- all I can 'see' is a big cube - wouldn't that be too deep for planting?

How many times have you re-decorated in the last 2 years Maz?? You put us to shame. We need to do the upstairs landing, but with 5 doors to rub down + the loft hatch...well, we're still talking about it!

We have our BFsF coming over tonight, the annual visit. Which means lots of the unmentionable :-0

YG Report 9 Aug 2011 10:36

I'm awake!!! And have been up since 5.50am, although I did go back to bed with a cuppa and a book!!!

Have started with a sore throat and the sniffles!! Would anyone like to share?? :-D

It's a sunny day, but still a chilly wind, Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow and showers on Thursday, so saving the last couple of unmentionables to do then when I will be stuck indoors!!

I was lucky last week when I met up with Maz & Pauline as there was a bad storm here in the afternoon that caused flooding in some parts of the town, although fortunately our area is never affected by floods.

Wonder if Maz is buried under the wallpaper she is stripping off!! :-D

YG, we were very lucky last week because we've had rain for the last few days and today doesn't look too good either. We're going to take the chance and go out but we might get a soaking. Might come back with frizzy hair...... :-) :-)

Hi All, Please let me know that all of you are OK, well you must be you are all chatting, and are away from the problems happening over there. It is truly horrible to see so many people tearing their own and others lives apart with this senseless violence.

The washing machine tub. Think of the old fashioned wringer type round Pope or Simpson washing machine. Now chop the bottom off a little higher than knee height. Stick it up on top of a metal frame and you have a piece of sculpture about waist height. Now put tomato plants in it. And, OH has graciously offered to paint it for "me". Which means it will probably be red, blue and yellow. Aunty wanders away shaking her head.

Aunty, some say they are the neglected generation of kids that feel that they are forgotten and are now using their 'voice'! I say catch and prosecute as many as they possibly can and bring in the army if they need to back up the police. This is just mindless theft and criminal damage that is now spreading further afield including Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool. There are some who are inticing others on social networking sites.

Who, at the end of it all, is going to pay for all the cars that have been damaged and all the goods stolen? We are, in higher insurance premiums and retail prices.

Deb**hams have already announced that they will be closed until further notice.

I am ashamed to say that I live in the UK.

Hi Maz, still busy working hard? I have done a couple of jobs today but some kind person has given me their cold and I am feeling pretty c*** at the moment! :-P

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Aug 2011 17:43

Afternoon - as you can see Aunty, we are all OK, and there wasn't anything mentioned for Derbyshire, so LG is probably OK. I'm hoping the Claphan area dies down by tomorrow evening as BM will travel in to there from an airport at something silly o'clock. He lands about 10 pm, so it would be after 1130 by the time he gets there. We might try and phone him as soon as he lands and offer to collect him to stay over night.

thankfully, we live in the 'middle of nowhere' according to PC, and most of the trouble has been in town centres.

Although the initial disturbance on Saturday was understandable, now its just organised gangs of yuffs out to loot and cause damage.
