YG Report 9 Aug 2011 20:44

Hi Maz. Don't you have too much to drink tomorrow if you finish up in the pub!!! :-D

I thought I had escaped a cold during this holiday!! I haven't had a bad one since I had laryngitis over two years ago. A few sniffles, but that is all. This feels like a full blown attack coming on!! Oh joy!! Got a very tickly throat tonight, so don't think it will be a good nights sleep!!

I guess a trip to England is out of the question now :-P

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 10 Aug 2011 07:49

Morning all - the PC had its regency stripes of death last night, so I couldn't be bothered to re-boot.

RMS - if you fancy coming to the UK...you come! A lot of the problems are copy cat events now, and as soon as the school/colleges go back, it will all die down - heavy rain forecast for the more northern areas will dampen the ardour! Its been happening outside of the tourist areas, so you'd be safe.

Sorry to hear that YG is feeling rough - but isn't it usual for people to catch something when they are on a break from work? Enjoy your outing with the client Maz - you really do put us to shame with all the decorating and general work you do at home on top of earning a crust.

The outlaws are coming for the day, so I'm going to cook a roast for lunch, with rhubarb crumble.

YG

YG Report 10 Aug 2011 09:11

Morning everyone.

Wet here too!! Forecast for the day and then light showers for tomorrow.

A roast dinner and rhubarb crumble sounds very tempting DET!! Please throw any leftovers my way, but let me know when so that i can open the window first!! I cleaned the oven yesterday and it is a job that I hate, so don't want to mess it up now!!!!

Feeling a little brighter this morning. Olb** oil at the ready!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 10 Aug 2011 12:53

Aunty telephoned 000 and explained the emergency. “ There is a dead body in my lounge room”, she said. “I have called the ambulance and the rapid response team tried mouth to mouth resuscitation and nearly swallowed it”.

“My observation”, said the policeman, “is that it does look fairly poorly. It’s not quite deceased yet still some wriggle left in it. Nope all wriggle gone, now it really is poorly”.

“Well”, said Aunty, “you’d feel poorly with a springy metal bar across your head.”

“Oh, I hear the fire brigade”, said the policeman. “Who called them?”

“I did”, replied Aunty. “I thought they might be handy to have around the place. Never know what one can do with a fireman in a moment of crisis”.

“I don’t think we will need a report for the coroner”, said the policeman. “We have all the evidence we need. Definitely a case of death by mouseadventure. Choked on peanut butter while doing chin ups on that springy metal bar”.

Aunty retired to her boudoir to sip tea and sniff daintily into her handkerchief while brave OH disposed of the body. The firemen stood around looking important and ready for action.

De dum, dum, de, dum de dum.

Yes folks the unbearable tension and excitement continues. Only a few minutes before the trap snapped shut Aunty spotted another small rodent scurrying across the laundry floor. Wonder how many more will turn up for the funeral tomorrow.

Tune in again next week for another exciting instalment of “Aunty and the Mice”, or one down, heavens knows how many to go………..

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 10 Aug 2011 19:22

Oh well done Aunty! At least one has bitten the dust (or at least ended up in the dustbin) ;-) Did you not provide a small bouquet of flowers when the rodent was laid to rest? Heartless woman, unless you intend to make a financial donation to HFVAHA - Homes For Victims Of Human Abuse.

As for the misuse of Firefighters - don't you know you dragged them away from rescuing an innocent puss from the top of a Eucalyptus tree?

Talking of Firefighters - we had a visit from an apparently personable young man employed by the Service yesterday, to fit free smoke alarms. Dratted personage waited until I'd gone to replenish the frozen pea supply before making an appearance. Grr - he was totally wasted on OH. :-(
And one of my sunflowers has snapped in the wind, just as it was coming into flower. More :-( :-(

Hope the man next door as learnt his lesson Maz, although its unlikely. :-(

AuntySherlock Report 10 Aug 2011 21:25

Done an inspection of known mousey refreshment zones. No evidence of nightly incursions in the vicinity . Perhaps I have rid the planet of speedy gonzales. Twas not my intention to do so. If there was only one meece, the speed at which the dearly departed critter could move was admirable.

Either that or the remainder are awaiting delivery of the morning paper to read the obituary and funeral notice. It is the wake I imagine they will hold which fills me with trepidation.

I was supposed to go to the fh centre for more research last night. They rang me in the afternoon to say it would be closed because the person on duty was ill. I could think of several replies to that message, not one of which was, "I hope they are better soon". I had arrranged my whole day and evening, shuffled other things around, just so I would be free in the evening. Oh well, there is always next week.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 11 Aug 2011 09:03

Morning Maz - never mind the rain, you have lots of decorating to get on with :-D Enjoy your outing later

Pity about the FS centre, but as it is presumably run by volunteers, these things happen. At least they rang to let you know.

Morning everyone.

Where has the August sunshine gone!! :-( :-( :-(

Aunty, you crease me up with your tales of Aunty & the Mice!! Sounds as though there may be a wake! Hope not too many turn up!!

YG

YG Report 11 Aug 2011 16:01

The rain has held off all day, but is looking a bit dodgy now!!

Have been to the garden centre and bought some shrubs and planted them, so now I am curling up on the throne, feet up on the newly covered purple footstool and a nice hot cuppa!!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 12 Aug 2011 07:56

Well here I am taking a few moments off mouse patrol. Becomes very tiring marching up and down the house waiting for a rodent to spring out from their hiding place and attack.

Oh that it would happen that way. Last night, there I was in the comfy chair, watching nothing in particular on TV, when one of the little pests ran out from under another chair, washed its face, preened its whiskers, gave me the middle finger salute, and dashed back under the chair again.

OH has relocated one of the traps in the vicinity. I have been giving Spot mouse hunting lectures. He just looks at me with his big brown eyes, lifts a paw and points to the cupboard. I know, I know!! Food in cupboard, big dog not hunt mice. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Aug 2011 09:24

Morning all - glad you had a good day Maz, the wet weather aside. Sitting in a shelter eating Fish n Chips out of paper just about sums up a British Summer holiday :-D

Oh dear - so Mr (or Mrs) Mouse is still about :-0 Have you managed to locate where they are living?? Perhaps some delectable fodder outside their des-res will help to banish them permanently? Seriously, it might be worth considering rodent poison now. You have no idea how many critters are being raised in their hidey hole.

Shopping day for us - besides the normal, we are going to Marks and Sparks to sus out their 'dine in for £10' (or it might be £12) offers now that PC is away at the wet seaside.

YG

YG Report 12 Aug 2011 09:44

Morning/evening one and all.

Oooh, Aunty, your inmates are getting very cheeky!! They will be sitting in the armchair next watching tv with you!!!!

Sounds like you had a good, if wet, day out Maz! I always think fish 'n' chips taste far better when sitting on the prom eating them out of the paper!

I might just have a wander into town today to look for some new work clothes!! Depression is already setting in at the thought of having to go back on Monday!!

YG Report 12 Aug 2011 11:00

The boss is back today. Best get busy clearing up this mess in here! Now where has someone hidden the feather dusters and polish?

Think I'd better get my hose and wash everything down. :-D
