Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 23 Aug 2011 09:59

I think the rain is moving up from the south and traveling east as it goes up the country. I'm hoping it'll be blown across the sea before it comes this far north.

Think I'd better go and get the shopping in now - just in case the rain gets here quicker than it's forecast to.

Greetings all, hi Pauline, welcome back. Is the avatar a new photograph. Wow!!

I've finished baking 4 dozen fairy, small, patty, cup cakes, whatever you wish to call them. Took about 90 minutes to prepare, bake and clean up after me. And then almost two hours to ice and decorate the flaming things.

I skipped fitness tonight to ice cakes. Well a woman has to get her priorities right. Ice four dozen cakes and eat three, or work out at the gym. Yes I know which option you all would choose.

I have to take refreshments to work tomorrow. Soon as I mentioned the word "cake" OHs eyes lit up, so yes, I baked him a batch as well.

Evidently the new GR release has been deployed. Never noticed anything except I had to log out and then in again to go to My Threads.

Wanna know what the weather is like here! Oh ah ha ha ha!! 22 degrees, warm sunny and no cardigan weather. Same for tomorrow and 17 on Friday. The first blow fly of the season was buzzing around yesterday. Should have shut up and flown quietly, because he/she/it is now no longer buzzing.

Catch you all later.

Sounds as if our seasons have equalised with downunder - up one day, down the next. Oh for a bit of consistency, even if its only for 7 days at a time.

Evening everyone.

It hasn't been bad today, not too much rain, wasn't a good idea to put the washing out though.

Aww, poor Smudge, you'll have to spoil him for a few days, Maz.

Yes Aunty, that's a photo of me........... Maz and YG will confirm that's exactly what I look like, even down to the waist-length purple hair. ;-) ;-)

Are we getting any of those fairy cakes to have with a cuppa?

YG

YG Report 23 Aug 2011 18:34

Of course we will confirm that Pauline!!

Could just do with some cupcakes!! Wonder if Aunty will lob some over!!

Have bought a cat carrier today and was dreading putting it together as the reviews said the clips were really difficult to do. Didn't have a problem at all, just followed the instructions and it was fine!! My chest has swelled some!!
Booked the fur in for their restart vaccinations in readiness for their holiday!!

Evening all, well I am glad I don't look like my Avitar :-D. Or rephrase that I do look like William on a full moon ;-)

Evening all, well I am glad I don't look like my Avitar :-D. Or correct that I do look like William on a full moon and just drop dead gorgeous the rest of the time ;-)

Eeeeh, you're at it again LG!!! Trigger happy lol!!

The drawer front on the sink unit decided to break tonight, so I have been busy trying to do a bit of diy!! Don't know yet whether I've succeeded!!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 23 Aug 2011 22:09

Bloomin lappy it seems to have a mind of its own LOL. Sometimes it won't click and then it hiccups. Has the drawer front dropped off again yet ? :-D :-D :-D

YG

YG Report 23 Aug 2011 23:09

It hasn't stuck very well, but I only had wood glue. I will have to buy some glue for plastic as it is the side of the drawer that has broken. If all else fails, call the council!! But that will mean a morning off work!

Am off to bed now!

Sleep well LG. Nite nite x <3

LaGooner Report 23 Aug 2011 23:13

Try hard as nails that glues most things. Nite nite YG sleep well <3

Morning all -

What have you been doing to your kitchen YG? Did the Naked Gardener get a little frisky?? ;-) If your wood glue doesn't hold, you might have to sand it off before applying anything else, to provide a clean surface. I'll check with OH once he arises.

Another damp day, but I might drag him out shopping for undies - your bog standard passion killers, so nothing to get his blood pressure up.

I spent most of yesterday up me tree, trying to dispatch various twigs...but ended up finding their children, and grandchildren. Where do you draw the line?

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 24 Aug 2011 08:50

morning all
off to work later have to go to stockton so am trusting the washing out as its sunshine and showers so fingers crossed lol

LaGooner Report 24 Aug 2011 09:10

Morning all, sounds like another exciting day DET :-D. LOL. It is very cloudy here too but I am hoping it brightens up as I am planning on a jaunt out this afternoon. As for the pruning I have tried and done the same as you so the tree still is no smaller but has got some new twigs instead. Well it keeps me out of mischief , well thats what oh reckons anyway

Unlike you Maz I am not risking leaving washing out just in case :-S

I do that all the time with my tree, try to get rid of side-shoots and end up with more. It always seems much easier to find people on the side-shoots than the direct blood line.

I'm not even going to comment on the naked gardener and hard as nails!

Hi All, very busy day today with work work, story reading, and then a trip to the microfilm reading department.

That is so frustrating I waste most of my time winding and rewinding the film trying to find where I was last time.

We have had news about OHs rellies. Still waiting for more info. When I piece it all together I will PM you and let you know. Not the news we had hoped for but at least there are some good bits.

Another glorious day and still about 12 degrees late at night. 20ish again tomorrow but we are warned about possible showers for Friday.

Cup cakes were/are delicious. If I send you my recipe you can make them yourselves. They are butter cakes by the way, not sponge cakes. Actually called Cherry Cakes but I leave the cherries out of them.

Easy peasey recipe. Are you ready.

Preheat oven to about 190C or moderately hot. Grease cup cake tins or put the patty pans on the tray. Into the small bowl of the electric mixer chuck 125grams softened butter or margarine, (for the softened bit I just stir it up a bit with the mixer). three eggs, three quarters cup sugar, dash vanilla essence, two cups sifted self raising flour and quarter cup milk. Turn on the mixer and beat on medium speed for about two or three minutes or until mixture is smooth. Spoon into cup cake tins or paper cases and bake in oven until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Lick the beaters and scrape out the bowl.

Ice with white, pink or chocolate icing. You can add cocoa to make chocolate cakes, sultanas, or cherries or chop chips or whatever to the mixture. Makes about 24 depending on the size of the cakes or how much mixture you eat before it gets to the oven.

YG Report 24 Aug 2011 18:08

Oh goodness, perhaps it would have been worth it if it had anything at all to do with the naked gardener!! Regrettably not!! Just a worn out base unit waiting for the whole kitchen replacements (whenever that might be!!).

I had a look at the drawer before going to bed and found a small section at the back corner that was a little 'adrift' so stuck that too and left it overnight. I picked it up very gingerly this morning, and it stayed in one piece, so I was very brave and put it back in it's rightful place. I thought it might fall apart again once I tried to open it with all the cutlery in, but at the moment it is still ok!!

Think I might set up my own diy business lol!! :-D

No rain here today, it's been lovely, but some forecast for overnight if it happens! Thunderstorms for Friday!

LaGooner Report 24 Aug 2011 18:51

Evening all, it turned out lovely today so Yidarmylass and I walked around one of our little local villages. It was lovely as it is so old fashioned , a step back in time. Had a lovely cup of coffee in a really friendly little shop , a great afternoon in great company , (oh and we did not get locked up!!) :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Aug 2011 19:41

Sounds as if you had a good day LG. And did the washing dry Maz?
YG, I did ask OH about the glue situation, and he sucked his teeth somewhat. You are very fortunate to get it to stick together as he seemed to think that plastic is a *arstard to glue unless you get the right sort of many glues!

That recipe looks easy enough to cook AS, and the best bit of course is licking out the bowl, and 'prewashing' the beaters :-D

We also had a coffee out in our nearest town, sitting in the sun, after purchasing the underpinnings. The normal Italian cafe was closed as they are on holiday, but the one next door probably served a better quality version. And the Library has reopened after a 12 month re-fit :-D
