Morning/Evening Aunty - as much as I'd love your warmer weather the price to too high, unfortunately. Maz is your woman; she seems to thrive on cleaning!

Having had a google, you might know our Oak trees as English Oaks. They ought to be able to survive in the same areas as the Chestnuts, and can live for hundreds of years. And yes - acorns are a fact, not a myth! There is a nice selection here.

edit - links to acorns deleted cos it might have broken the thread

Including the cup, they are probably 1.5cm-2cm long and on average 1 cm diameter. From little acorns, doth grow the majestic Oak :-D

Enjoy the match - somehow I'd always thought that 'we' meant you and OH! Hope he enjoys it as well. ;-)

Thanks for the botany lesson. Strange we never hear about acorns, it is always gumnuts. They are a bit smaller, actually they range from about your acorn size down to tincy wincy little ones.

Re the footy. No OH is not a lover of crowded places. The game is better watched on TV however you miss the atmosphere and the noise. Travelling there and home again takes some shine off the event as well.

I have just received an amazing piece of research done for me by the Newcastle (Aust) Family History Research people. Beautifully set out, easy to follow, everything sourced and labelled, and cuttings from newspapers typed up and the originals copied and supplied. This is information about OHs very early rellies and while I do have some of the data it fills in more gaps, and confirms details of my own research.

A far, far better result than the paltry effort I received from the USA last week!!

Why is this page all skewiff. Elongated off the side of the screen. Hmmm haven't seen the gremlins for a while!!

Thats great Aunt! Hope they did it for love rather than money ;-)

I'm killing time digging around in the Australian Military records - lol One twig won the Military Medal for being Mentioned in Dispatches for gallantry in the field, possibly at Gallipoli. And reading between the lines, he separated from his wife (what wife?) Pity the direct line didn't do anything (anywhere) note worthy

I'll delete the acorn link - it might have broken the thread. PC and Eldest are fans of Winnie the Pooh! PC was given a Pooh Bear one Christmas and put in on an armchair. OH stumbles down stairs at silly o'clock and gets shouted at
"You're sitting on Pooh!"
Never seen him jump up so fast :-)

AuntySherlock Report 28 Aug 2011 12:42

Well the game lasted four quarters and my team played for two. They were beating the opposition and then my team sat down in the middle of the oval and had a picnic while the other team kicked the goals they needed to win.

OH tolerated the whole event and even yelled once or twice. However, and I must agree with him, his opinion is that you do have a much better view of the game sitting in the lounge watching it on TV.

The screen returned to normal after I click out of the thread and then back again DET. Don't know if that perhaps coincided with you deleting the link.

The research did involve a fee, which was less than the other request. Well worth the cost.

Reasonably successful shopping trip today. Got all the unmentionables, but had to go back because the assistant gave me two different cup sizes by mistake. They didn't have the right size left, so have had to order, but at least I will be well stocked when they arrive. I hate shopping for unmentionables!!! Did manage to get a couple of dresses as well in the sale so am quite pleased with myself!

Ooooh whooppee!!!!!! Get that score!!!!

Running off to hide too Maz >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well it's nearly food time so I can hide in the kitchen for a while!!

Evening all. For once we did not bother watching the match as we knew what the outcome would be. Not only that we had visitors and also have done a good few chores today.

Is it safe to come out of the trenches then? Not only Aunty's team giving up halfway through, but also LG's being trounced. YALass didn't do too well either :-0

Glad the shopping went well today YG - I've got to get an outfit for a wedding, the one and only posh frock now shows too many lumps and bumps which didn't ough't be there. :-(

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 29 Aug 2011 09:23

At least someone is pleased with the footie results today!

Morning all - you sound like me LG, with the ironing. Can't be bothered if its a few bits, but suddenly there is a massive pile :-( That is on today's list as well, but if there is something more interesting to do............

I might go to the neighbours and ask if I can take a photo of our sunflowers, who seem to prefer the view over the fence. :-(
