Tut - you were the one who suggested it!!! OK we're back to 22 Oct if YG is available. Otherwise, how about doing our 'own thing' darn London way?

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 19:02

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 20:22

Right, down to the nitty gritty!!

I could have made any of the dates until I checked the train times for London & Peterborough!

October 22nd & 29th are both non starters as there are engineering works between Peterborough and Newark, so all return journeys are going to take almost 3 hours.

8th October is ok, so if it suits you both, then we could settle on that. Just let me know whether you want to do London or PB.

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 20:23

Either place for me YG what about you DET ?

Mazfromnorf Report 22 Sep 2011 20:42

I am travelling both of them days lol and they never said anything lol

YG

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 21:02

The morning journeys are fine, Maz, but the engineering work starts in the afternoon. There is a warning on the timetable on National Rail enquiries. I think we had enough problems last time so I am not prepared to chance it again!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 21:11

Oh I could not be doing with that again.

YG

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 21:17

it wouldn't affect you LG, it seems to be mostly between Grantham and Newark. Some of the times aren't showing any disruption, but the journey times are almost 3 hours, which is very slow. Normally only around 1hr 40ish.

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 21:34

Knowing my luck something would go wrong :-D :-D

YG

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 21:54

Well it looks ok on the 8th. Bit more expensive, but you only live once lol! The sooner you can decide whether the date is ok and let me know what time you are likely to arrive, the better, so I can book before the price goes up again. ;-)

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 21:59

I have emailed DET to see if it's ok and also which place she would like to meet. I am halfway between the two so no problems for me. Which do you prefer YG ?

YG

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 22:20

I don't really mind, although obviously Peterborough is cheaper for me, but it will be more for DET. Cheapest fare I can get to London tonight is £53. I can do PB for £22 to £35 depending on time of trains.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 22:31

Mine is the same price both ways so no problem. We will have to wait on a reply from DET and then sort it.

YG

YG Report 22 Sep 2011 22:52

Ok, no problem!

It's bedtime for me LG. I will catch you tomorrow. Sleep well. <3 :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Sep 2011 23:24

Sorry - had to cook and be 'sociable'. 8 Oct at PB is OK. At the moment, the earliest cheap train arrives 11.50 ( think that was the same as last time) and can leave 17.35, 17.49, 18.32, 18.50 etc, etc. Can't see where you found out about engineering work, so can't check that.

Sorry you can't make it Mazbut at least you got to see YG and Pauline.....and didn't need to wear a coat!!

Not sure if I'll get back on line the same as everyone else tomorrow - its the family event in Welwyn until sometime in the evening.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Sep 2011 23:29

Right then PB on the 8th it is then. Oooooooo I am so excited it will be lovely to see you both again. It is a shame about Maz but no doubt we can meet with her before very long. I will check for engineering works a bit nearer the time.

We can check those details on the National Rail website.
