Football? Is that why Midsummer Murders wasn't on? Why can't they give it a regular spot and chuck some other stand alone programme on when there is no match?

FB - most of the time I just lurk, although PC calls it stalking ;-) And you can turn off the thing that tells 'friends' you are on line.

How can you have peaches and nectarines on the same tree ???? Sounds as if you will have to put the aircon on earlier than expected to help you sleep if it carries on being so humid.

It is possible now to grow two fruits and the one tree. It used to be because a rootstock of one species was used for grating the second species onto. Or some such thing. Now I think people are actually growing the fruit together so they can have some of each.

Not that this tree is supposed to be like that. Is probably a mistake. Nice mistake because I like nectarines better than peaches. It is strange because I have been looking at the little "peaches" for a few weeks now and waiting for them to turn fuzzy. Now when you look at the tree there really are two very different types of fruit on it.

Must go will return later.

Morning/evening all.

With global warming, perhaps the peach/nectarine tree will become popular in the UK. A fiend has a peach tree and I must say that although small, the peaches are much better than the imported ones in the shops.

Maz, have you asked A if he has the wash bag, or could you have left it at Frogs (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). Have you stored it in the suitcase/bag you used last time you visited Mum?

Even though I'm not dressed, I've partially cleared the remaining dirty half of this room, and the curtains are in the wash. I'm still thinking about what to do about the desk; there are so many 'bits and bobs' on it - pens, calculators, postit notes etc etc. I'll want to use it to stand on to get to the ceiling :-0

You sound like blondie packing for her trip Maz. Would it surprise you to know we packed the car, drove about four km down the road, she looked at me and said. I have to go back home Mum I've left my toiletries bag in the bathroom.

So off we went back to her house, collected the left behind articles and set off again for the airport. Luckily we had plenty of time.

I don't paint my toenails, I hide them. Bit hard with the size feet I have. Just as well I am not cinderella. Prince Charming would have needed to spare horse to carry around my glass slipper. I have also broken most of my toes at one time or other. They are all knobbly and twisted, my toes that is.. Add to that my two bunions; well one and a bit bunions and you will understand why I prefer not to paint that end of my body any colour at all. As for using a sander, I find sandpaper wrapped around an axe handle does the job quite well.

At least she didn't leave the iron on??

If its any consolation, I don't 'do' nails either, neither feet nor hands. All the bottles of varnish in the dressing table have set solid!!! My feet are Ok-ish, but with varicose veins, don't want to draw attention to the extremities if the support tights have been put away for the summer.

Must away, or it will be midday again before we get going............not that OH is up yet :-|

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Oct 2011 15:37

Yeah! Well done Maz!! TBH, it is sometimes easier to use sandwich bags to go to an hotel or to visit someone, but a toilet bag is probably best for night shift work.

Cleaning finished - now to put everything back again,,,,,,,,,,and to 'discuss' the amount of Stuff.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Oct 2011 16:15

Sensible questions but no emotional attachment :-) Its probably easier for someone involved to prod occasionally. Tucked into corners we have

a camera tripod with something or other attached, last used about 7 months ago.
Flash gun to go with it.
Drawing board and pad - ditto 7 months.
Then BM's defunct X-Box and a basket of games/DVDs,
2 half completed tapestry by numbers on frames, and the frame stand (they are mine)
2nd wine rack with one bottle of wine
Various mixers or gottles of geer
Then there is all the FH stuff and home office papers which haven't found a home!!

My argument is that we don't have enough storage space. His is that we have too much stuff - said while cramming yet another electrical lead he wants to keep just in case, in to drawer.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 20 Oct 2011 17:03

Well done LG! As a point of interest, how did you get to the ceiling and long-drop? We've decided we really must do ours, but OH isn't sure how to get at the normally unreachable places.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 20 Oct 2011 20:35

Our ceiling is lowered on the staircase so I can use a long handled roller and a paintbrush attached to a broomhandle. NO!! not a broomstick :-D :-D. If you have extra high bits you could use one of those newfangled ladders that work by making a platform on the stairs. A lot of hire firms do them if you donn't want to buy one, I have seen them in a certain shop Wil******s for £50.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Oct 2011 20:40

Lucky you! I had suggested a roller on a long pole, but he said he wouldn't be able to get a clean line where the ceiling meets the wall.

Even with his long arms, the pole would be wobbling around, so I tend to agree with him. The last time it was done c12 years ago, we have professionals do it as part of an house insurance claim. Well worth the annual premium as it turned out!

Evening all!!

Well the rumours are rife at work, as I have now had two men in my house this week!! Let them carry on with their thoughts!! All I said was 'one has been to replace my thermostat and the other has played with my feet'!!

Been to visit son & co tonight. They are off on hols for a few days so gds needed some pocket money!! Managed a very belated opportunity to have my say about the argument that I had with eldest gd over Fb!! He must be wondering what has got into me lol!! :-D
