Shove up LG! On second thoughts, you need to conserve your energy for 'encouraging' the floor laying tomorrow. ;-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 29 Oct 2011 19:44

Hopefully you have some ideas for the carpet.........and from the sound of it your team did well. Can't have all been bad!

Go to a charity shop for some dirt cheap lampshades. They'll do until you can find something you like. Or even shop on line??

Flipin fireworks going off again. Can't be Guy Fawkes night cos that's next Saturday, although someone mentioned Diwali - we've a large Asian minority in the area. Its supposed to be 26 Oct this year, but I suppose the weekend is easier for a lot of people who work.

Fireworks are a damn pain in the butt. In my view they should be kept to 5th November only and not sold to the public. I am not against proper organised events as they are safer and also you get more for your money. We have a big event going off next week end with all the profits going to our local childrens hospice the cost is only £15 for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Good value considering it costs about £15 for about 15 measely fireworks. There are some going of here at the moment and my cats are not happy moggies :-|

Over here we no longer celebrate Guy Fawkes night and firework sales to the public are banned without a permit. Occasionally we might have someone letting them off illegally, but it is a very rare occasion. All of our fireworks events are staged by companies. We have them for Chinese new year, sky show, and at the royal show.

Have not heard from OH yet. His phone is on message. It would be nice if he rang to tell me what is going on with his travel arrangements. I'll just keep ringing him and leaving rude grumpy messages on his phone. Ah just got through to him. Gave him the phone number he has to ring and he said I'll see you in a couple of days!!!

How on earth did the team pull that win off LG. I watched about fifteen minutes towards the beginning of the game and Chelsea were ahead and playing much better.

Hi Aunty, well I think the boss must have given them a good telling off at half time :-D.

I wish firework sales to the public were banned over here.

YG Report 30 Oct 2011 08:15

Morning everyone and welcome back Maz. Pleased you had a good week and I'm sure you are delighted to be back!!! Good for A, keeping the washing & ironing down for you!!

LG, get your knee pads on ready for the floor laying!! That will keep you out of mischief for a while.

My cats are going to be nervous wrecks too over the next week or so. Permits would be a very good idea in the UK. The bonfire nights of old that I remember as a child are long gone.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Oct 2011 08:41

I'm here! Quess who forgot that the clocks were going back??? :-0 :-D Never mind.

Welcome home Maz - that was a bit of poor planning having N arrive at the same time, but you must be pleased to see her. Glad you had reasonable weather darn suff.

Hope Aunty's OH can get alternative travel arrangements soon - will Quantas do the transfer, or other airlines accept his ticket? Its actually made the TV headlines over here now as it is affecting flights out of the UK. At least the flexible friend piece of plastic can keep a roof over his head in the meantime and he can probably find a budget shop for clean undies etc etc :-D

There a TV ads for some sort of herbal tranquilisers for animals. Have the cat lovers tried those? We used to have wonderful bonfire nights in my parents large garden, with Bonfire Soup afterwards. Unfortunately the recipe died with Mum :-( She used to hate the noise as it reminded her of the Blitz. We've never bothered with organised displays; they always seemed too expensive with 3 children, especially as Dad used to buy most of the fireworks.
