Morning - make the most of your last day of freedom Maz, although tomorrow 'ought' to be an easy induction day.

That flipin Australian Airline. If its pronounced k-want-as and starts with a Q, then it is understandable if we want to put a U after it :-P Hope OH has returned safely by now. That trip will go into the memory bank, for sure!

Try not to trip over the unfinished flooring. Hope OH can find time during the week to finish it off. Did you find any lampshades at the Cash 'n' Carry??

Evening all.

Good luck for tomorrow, Maz! I am sure everything will be fine. A new future ahead of you. :-)

DET, I agree with you!! Where there's a 'q' there should be a 'u' !! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 31 Oct 2011 18:10

Evening all - just waiting for Dinner to be cooked.

An expensive day today - 2 new front tyres. Ouch! I'm hoping to sell it before the tax and MOT runs out in Dec. There goes my independence, but it is little used now-a-days so costing something like £600 pa just sitting on the drive. :-(

One ring on the door bell so far this evening, which we ignored. Of course, it might have been something I'd ordered, but probably not. At least we weren't plagued as other people in other areas are.

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 31 Oct 2011 19:48

Aunty sighs and gathers the "children" around her for a lesson in acronyms.

The reason there is no "U" in QANTAS is because it is an acronym, ie a word made up from the first letter of several other words. RAF - Royal Air Force, CHOGM - Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting.

The Q stands for Queensland, so the U is in the word Queensland and not in the QANTAS. Now if you put a U in QANTAS it has to stand for another word. For example QUANTAS Queensland Unpopular and Northern Territory Aerial Service.

OH is home, very tired and very pleased to be back. We had two lots of door thumpers last night and I politely declined their "trick or treating".

RockyMountainShy

RockyMountainShy Report 31 Oct 2011 20:04

You people are soooooooooooooooooo mean to trick and treaters :-P and don't tell me it is because Hallowe'en is an American custom because it ain't :-| and if I can get photobucket to cooperate, I will show you it ain't.
It started about 5 trillon years ago with the Celts and I think that is you if I am not mistaken.

RockyMountainShy

RockyMountainShy Report 31 Oct 2011 20:06

and QANTAS definitly DOES NOT have a U in it.

YG

YG Report 31 Oct 2011 20:11

We know Qantas doesn't have a 'u' in it, but it doesn't look right and DET & I want a 'u' in it!!!!!!

Aunty, Qantas is unpopular at the moment, so might as well add the 'u'!!!

It used to be call 'Mischief Night' here until everyone took on the name of Trick or Treat!!

I have had one ring at the doorbell, but couldn't refuse as it was my gchildren!! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Nov 2011 09:25

Glad someone agrees with me :-D

Hello RMS, glad to see you again. Those Trick and Treaters. I think us Grumpy Old Wimin get fed up with it as it is now so commercialised. Someone said the custom originated in Scotland, was taken to the US where someone decided it was a good platform to make money selling all the tat, which was then picked up back in GB. I blame the 'attraction', on all the films made in Hollywood! Celts seem to have been located in what is now Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the tip of Cornwall (the bit in the far SW which sticks out into the Atlantic)

Glad to hear that Aunty's OH is home safe and sound. However comfy the beds are in hotels, your own is always the best.

Anyone seen LG? Has she tripped over a floorboard or cut the internet cable??

Here, put your feet up Maz - the Throne is unoccupied at the moment. You should sleep well tonight, and have tomorrow to recover ! Hope the transport links worked out for you. What age group are the 'clients' then?

Summer is over; we put the patio table and chairs away today :-0 Mind you, the strawberries are still in flower !!!!

Glad you got through your first day and still seem happy Maz, so it's looking good.

We didn't have any trick or treat kids last night............ that's 3 years in a row we haven't had any in this area. I think all the kids must be grown up now. I've got 3 bags of treats to eat myself again.......... I'm not going to buy any next year.

It's been a beautiful sunny warm day here, we'll probably get rain or snow tomorrow............. but at least we made the most of today. :-) :-)

Morning all - hope the Throne was comfy for you last night YG. You obviously weren't disturbed!

Maz, hope all the walking doesn't aggravate your problems - they do know about them, don't they?

Been up for nearly an hour and have a suspicion I should have stayed in bed :-0. That's the problem needing the loo at 'nearly getting up time' !!
