I'm here! We are having a tree trimmed and was rudely awakened by the door bell - The tree man asked if I know he was coming. Yep, but not quite so early - lol

That destination for the Derek's maturing alcohol is the right place if it should explode and/or catch fire - lol

AuntySherlock Report 16 Nov 2011 11:33

Spot the fabulous sabre-tooth tiger has been having problems. Started last Saturday morning when everything Spot put into his mouth came out the same way, and nothing came out of the other end. By the time Friday’s tea, Saturday’s lunch and tea, had been deposited on my carpet I was really worried. Spot was also spending a considerable time in the yard trying to operate his business end, with no results.

OH decided he would take Spot to the vet first thing Monday morning. Sunday saw a repeat of the previous day and by now I was wearied of scrubbing the carpet. Despite the fact there was nothing left in the sabre-tooth tiger’s tummy he still continued with the chucking up, and the rear end was still not operating.

Sensing a note of denial in OHs “Monday morning will do” attitude I put my foot down and insisted Spot be taken to the emergency vet. By now OH was as worried as I was and finally he agreed. So late on Sunday night we bundled the STT into the car, crossed our fingers nothing would come out of either end of the animal and drove to the vet.

Tired of waiting patiently to be seen by the vet, Spot decided it was time his rear end became operational there and then in the middle of the waiting room. I won’t describe the result, and the smell was interesting to say the least. The initial diagnosis of his condition was of a very serious virus. Following his faux pas, a couple of injections, the offer of overnight accommodation, some pink medicine and tablets we brought Spot home.

Monday morning OH took the very bemused STT to his own vet. Spot’s vet that is, not OH’s. More consultations, more tablets and this time a different diagnosis based on our observations over the preceding twelve hours. Rule out the virus, diagnosis now is a serious infection. Spot the sabre-toothed tiger has been resting comfortably since Monday. He is eating small meals and not chucking up, a fact which has done wonders for my lounge décor.

Last night OH and I discussed Spot’s welfare. We both have concerns the diagnosis of his condition is not backed up by medical tests. The seriousness of the events on Sunday evening lead us to request blood tests which were carried out today. Tomorrow we will know if there is an underlying cause to his illness and based on that information we will know where to from here.

Ah yes, and a footnote. You may remember I mentioned a poor sore paw. Spot had that examined as well. He has damaged his cruciate medial ligament or whatever the STT version of that is. Will take a while to heal, and unfortunately he is a bit old for a reconstruction op. Won’t be able to play football for a while either.

Oh dear - poor Spot. As he is firmly entrenched as member of your family, its understandable that you've been concerned, and not just because you've had to keep cleaning up the carpet! At least with humans you can give them a bowl to throw up into, with a 99% success rate.

Best wishes to Spot for a speedy recovery.

Aaaah, Aunty, poor Spot. Give him a big hug from me and tell him to get better soon.

Hope the test results are ok.
