Evening everyone from a wet and miserable Yorkshire!!

I'm so busy at work at the moment I don't know whether I am on my head or my butt!!

Just sitting here trying to wind down from a very exasperating day. Not to worry, it is Friday!! Yeahhhhhh!!!!

Hair colour tomorrow!! New me!! But I do have to do some unmentionables in between!

Hope you have a lovely day with Froggy, Maz. It sounds good.

I am trying Google Chrome out, as I am sick to death of IE and waiting for ever for the bloomin' cursor to be where I want it to be. I keep getting a message about IE modifying the page to avoid cross scripting and, according to the IT specialists at work, cross scripting is used by hackers. I have been getting this message ever since the errors started appearing on here.

Chrome seems to be working perfectly, so here's hoping!!

Hope you are feeling a little more like yourself now YG - warm bath and mug of milk ought to do you good ;-)

Hope you had a good day out Maz. We didn't make it in the end, considering the time OH got up :-| Still, there are at least 2 car boot loads of bagged leaf fall to take to the dump, so not a totally wasted day. I knew those charity bags they keep putting through the letter box would come in useful!!!

Don't you have recycling bins for garden waste, DET??

LaGooner Report 18 Nov 2011 19:40

Evening one and all. I am just waiting for the shopping to arrive so if I disappear swiftly I will be attempting to get it all put away

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 18 Nov 2011 20:47

Being a tactile shoppers we much prefer trundling round the shops, but on-line shopping does have its uses. :-)

Green garden waste bins? Yes, if you want to pay for them - lol. They appear to be emptied once a fortnight, and would as a guesstimate take 4-5 bags of leaves; I've filled more than that today, and about 5 earlier in the week, with more to do.

Morning all. Very warm night, about 26 degrees. Has dropped to 19 with a maximum forecast of 23 with showers today. Yesterday was about 35. Ah ha the thunder has just started.

I have food shopping to do and then I am hoping I can catch up on some FH or other such relaxing pursuits.

YG

YG Report 18 Nov 2011 21:03

Ooh not good having to pay for them DET!! And not good having so many trees!!

I get quite a few blowing in from the park across the road, but not that many!!

The errors on this site are adding to my frustration!!! Arrrggghhhh!!!
It has taken ten attempts to get back onto this thread.

Edit: Whoops, sorry I missed you there Aunty. We were posting at the same time. You are being naughty teasing us about the weather again!

LaGooner Report 18 Nov 2011 21:11

Oh YG I thought it was just me having error problems. If it keeps it up I will give up for a little while and look in later.

I still shop but only for the fresh items as I like to choose fruit and veg etc myself. I like all the heavy stuff delivered though as we both have difficulty carrying it from the car to the house.

YG Report 18 Nov 2011 22:05

It seems to be ok at the moment, LG, but I have still had several problems with it, even since it was supposed to have been corrected. I see that there was a post on the announcement thread about it last week again. It needs to be resolved >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fast!! :-|

I still seem to be having the occasional message but I keep trying

You will all be in bed now so I can claim the throne and the accoutrements.
Had a bit of a giggle at OH. Sat him down in front of the computer and showed him how to use the mouse (again) so he could look at the photos of the reunion. Poor man can't quite get the hang of the scroll bar. I had to go back and reset the page several times. He is getting better at it.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Nov 2011 09:01

Morning all - At least Aunty's OH isn't like the inlaws; they keep 'mucking up' their laptop or forgetting how to access their emails :-D But we are very proud of them as they didn't start to use a computer/the internet until about 8 years ago and they are now in their mid 80s. They are allowed the occassional lapse in memory. I somtimes think that OH is too fast when he shows them what to do.

We 'only' have 2 (well 3) trees actually in our garden + a small lilac; a purple beech, a hornbeam and a walnut. The latter is pollarded every year and is quite small. There is a sycamore over the back fence which seems to shed its leaves into our garden, rather than its owners. I've just had a count up of bags; there are 18 filled in one week, and the trees haven't finished falling yet :-0

Sounds as if its quite humid in Aunty's part of Downunderland. Nasty. Dry heat I can take, but sticky? Nah!

LaGooner Report 19 Nov 2011 09:17

Morning DET I have bagged up my leaves but I keep them as they make lovely soil improver if left for a while. Why pay for it when I can have it free :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Nov 2011 09:22

The Beech doesn't rot down, and gets mixed in with the other ones...........as we found when we tried to do the same :-0 We don't really have space to keep many bags for long enough.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 19 Nov 2011 09:25

Thats a shame DET. I have a little corner tucked away for the compost etc where I tuck them away until I need them. The littlies garden toys live there too ! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Nov 2011 09:34

We do have a compost heap for kitchen waste and the occasional load of grass cuttings, but I've given up trying to 'improve' the soil. There are so many surrounding trees and hedges, that anything put on the beds only ends up feeding them. I do empty the mulitpurpose compost from the Pots on the flower beds though. Its mainly shrubs as nothing flowery will grow there.

The difficulties of a north facing garden in the shade in the growing months - sigh. Never mind. At least we do have 'outside space' :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 19 Nov 2011 09:40

I have lots of trees and shrubs here but our little plot faces South and is a real sun trap in the summer so the bedding and the perenials do really well

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 19 Nov 2011 09:44

If you've still got my address, you can have a look on Google maps and you can see what I'm on about - lol. At least we have a good view from the kitchen window; a 16th C flint and brick built (originally a) farm house. Its got lovely decorative chimneys. :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 19 Nov 2011 09:48

I would love a view like that I just have common or garden houses to look at from back but at the front where the kitchen is we have a green with trees but there are also houses behind that :-(. If you ggogle mine it just looks like a load of green stuff as the angle it is taken from shows the huge trees that hang over from next door. They are so large that it looks like they half cover my garden but they don't :-D
