Morning all -

Never mind about one slip on the diet - there is always tomorrow. As long as it doesn't become a regular event! I like the idea of a hard waste collection - what is rubbish for you is treasure for someone else ie the scavengers. Apart from the garden green waste, all other household collections and access to the Dump is included in the Council Tax. Tradesman do have to pay to use it though. The council will arrange to collect items too big or heavy to go into a car, but there is a charge. The last time we used it, our Council wanted £25, although more for a fridge/freezer because of the CFC disposal. Hope you were successful with the cake stand replacement hunt!

I'm in 2 minds about FB, even though I have an account. The offspring and some of the more distant family are 'friends' meaning I can see some of the photos they put up. We've even used it to nag BM when he won't reply to emails as he seems to spend more time on that, or even on one occasion to tell PC (in her room) that dinner was ready. :-D

Unless you have really tight security, people can get in to view photos, which could be detrimental if a prospective employer wants to see what you are really like. Eldest, who used to think it was the best thing since sliced bread, has deleted his account. Think that says it all really!

Morning/evening all. I will not entertain Facebook in this house at all. When H was a teenager she spent all her waking hours on it getting more and more depressed. I am convinced it was a great do to with what she suffered until just lately. I also find it incredibly childish from what I have seen of it but on the other hand it can be very menacing too. Hence no FB for us !

Rant over :-D. Hope everyone is ok. I am just sitting here having my coffee and then off to put all the pictures etc back in the hallway. I am dreading the teddy collection inhereited from my Mum in Law bless her. She gave me about 100 very small collectors bears and they all go on shelves at the top of the stairs. I cannot bring myself to part with them although it is very tempting when they need their dust and brush up.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 20 Nov 2011 10:04

Morning LG - why not pack the bears into a box and put them into storage? You haven't 'got rid of them'; they are only out of sight. Littlies or other grands might lke them one day.

Not sure what we/I are up to, today - there is always leaf raking as a last resort :-(

Morning DET. I could do that I suppose but I would miss them really. OH is out at the moment but he will be back for lunch and then we are off to get the carpet we need for upstairs. I am now getting very fed up with the house finished in bits and bobs and intend to get it straight by hook or by crook. :-D

~~~~ to Maz~~~~~
Hope they were just having a slob out day, and not ill. Knowing something about the way you work, its a surprise you didn't scrub the kitchen from top to bottom! ;-)
5 more bags of leaves raked up, and numerous branches of my Family Tree pruned. Well it needed doing as I got so carried away, it got ridiculous. :-(
Away to find something for dinner shortly - have a good evening
Hello LG :-D I must admit I enjoy FB. It keeps me in touch with my UK family and I have reunited my OH with cousins who contacted me when I put an old wedding photo on my page for OH's Aussie cousin and they recognised it. We also have a son who used to be in the Army and spent 6 months overseas. It was a quick way to stay in touch because he wasn't always able to phone. Still....everyone to their own :-)
Hi Suemaid,As you say we all have our own views on it. I am lucky in that all my family are in about a 30 mile radius from me and we also phone,text and email very frequently so in that I am very lucky.
Evening everyone.
I have been a busy girl today >>>>>>>>>> again!! I'm catching up with Maz!! :-D :-D
Don't quite know who I am at the moment!! I don't like my new hair colour! It came as a great shock when I saw it!! Looks like I will have to live with it for a while :-(
I go on FB, but only for a few minutes each evening. I joined to read the tributes to Steptoe's son, but I have my security set to friends only. I might finish up deleting the account all together as it is total waste of time.
SueMaid Report 20 Nov 2011 21:13
My brother doesn't like FB because he has sons in their late teens and early 20's and he says they share their girlfriend woes with all and sundry. I do agree that it can be annoying when it's used this way.
I love your avatars, Aunty Sherlock and YG :-D
Thought you might like to see Spot, the sabre tooth tiger. Such a dear little animal. That is a two seater couch he is reclining on. Very difficult to see but it will give you an idea of how ferocious he is!!!!
Aunty - I've sent one back to you! Its a great innovation and does help to hide personal email addresses if you don't want to be 'bothered' by certain people. :-D
Didn't we have a photo of you and a Black Labrador? Love the new version...he looks so laid back - lol
