Morning maz - glad you survived the winds. Despite the noise of things blowing around last night, it must have been a few twigs or flower pots rolling around.

Got to go take my poor car for it's MOT shortly - if it fails majorly, not sure what to do as I keep saying its silly keeping 2 cars. Tax is due at the end of the month, so I may SORN it and get it repaired (or not) next month. It will help to spread the cost if nothing else. :-(

Crikey! Have you all gone into hiding away from the horrible weather!!

I had to rummage down at the bottom of page 3 to find you!!

Winds have died down here now, but we have had a smattering of sleety rain and it is too cold for my liking!

Have to nip down to son's tonight for an hour or so, but he won't be home till about 8pm. I don't like turning out once I have got settled in front of the tv!!

I'm about YG. A bit parky outside tonight. I am sitting in a warm office doing a bit of tree work. I am busy printing off a few of the blighters to file :-D

I'm here! Although its my turn to cook (Trout on offer at As*a) tonight, so will have to disappear shortly :-(

The car passed its MOT. Hurrah!!! So it lives until the spring at least. With only 1000 miles on the clock in the last 12 months, it hardly seems worth the expense.

Enjoy your visit to your son YG.

Hi everyone, looks like it's been quiet on here today. I've been busy writing some of my Christmas cards out and putting my tree up. Still got loads of cards to write and post though.

It was pretty bad here last night with the gales, but not as bad as Scotland............. and nowhere near as bad as that link that RMS gave us.

It's a nice night to curl up in front of the telly............. I feel sorry for anyone who's out in the cold. Makes me wonder how the homeless people survive the winter.

LaGooner Report 9 Dec 2011 20:09

Evening Pauline, my tree is still in the loft :-(. oh hasn't had time to get it down yet and I forgot to ask my lad who popped in last night so it will wait til Sunday methinks

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 9 Dec 2011 21:14

Morning all. We too have inclement weather. Ours is humid with rain and a bit windy. Top temps still in the middle to upper twenties so it is not cold.

Hope your horrible weather has eased off a bit. It is proabably true to say you will have lots more cold, wet and dampness your way before the sun starts shining again.

I start my Christmas preparations/garbage/let'sget it overwith/betterdoit, today or tomorrow. OH has asked me to find the tree and the decorations. He knows where they are however I am required to venture into the dark recesses of the shed and brave the spiders and other creepy crawlies and drag the required articles into the light of day.

Hopefully he will put the tree up and do something artistic with the baubles. I will have my cards written by Monday morning ready for posting. My fingers are crossed behind my back. I have a few presents to purchase and hope to take an hour or two off work work next week to get that done.

All I need to do then is to tidy up the house and sit back, relax and wait for Christmas morning. Oh ha ha hardy ha!!!

We do not have vehicle inspections in this State. Other states do but here if the police notice your car is a bit dilapidated they can pull you over and inspect the car and put a defect sticker on it. If you have any major changes made to your vehicle you can be asked to have it inspected before registration.

Off to see if I can have my hair repainted this morning. Think it would be cheaper to buy a can of enamel and a 4 inch paint brush and do the job myself. I look like a worn out skunk with a grey stripe down the middle of the head.

YG

YG Report 9 Dec 2011 21:39

Well you can look like one Aunty, as long as you don't have the lingering skunk odour :-D :-D :-D

I am sure it will be a total transformation when you have finished with the paintbrush!!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Dec 2011 23:50

Evening Aunty - more rain down under? Despite the agricultural advantages, you must be getting a bit fed up with it. Could it be the Chilean Ash still floating around, or is the Southern Hemisphere affected by El Nino/Nina as well?

The MOT is one piece of legislation I do approve of, being a law abiding citizen. Defects creep up on you over the year, and the MOT discovers them. I'd much rather be told that the chassis is virtually rotten through and the vehicle is un-roadworthy, than have it shear at high speed.

PC is supposed to be putting our tree up on Sunday while we are out - she says she is going to insist that the artistic b/f lends a hand.

OH went present shopping by himself..........and came back empty handed. He said he kept look at things, then realising that 'She' already had the same, or in a different colour, or alternatively 'she' would kill him if he spent 'that' much! :-D

Glad to hear you have survived the winds so far, oop norf. The grit lorries are out round here, with an expected frost due overnight. Its possibly only the 2nd one of the winter, so we aren't doing too bad. Since PC is out to work while it is still dark, she has been rummaging around for an ice scraper and de-icing spray.

Morning all.

DET, I think you should have a word with him about the "She would kill him if he spent 'that' much", he needs to stop thinking that way! :-)

I get that 'skunk' look about every 2 weeks, I wish my hair wouldn't grow so quickly.

LG, will this do till you get the one out of the loft?

Morning all - really love the Tree Pauline. Its decorated so tastefully and it doesn't shed needles :-D

Half the problem for OH's pressie shopping this year, is that I haven't written a list. There isn't anything that I'm in desperate need of. We've both got the age where if we want/need something, we will buy it our selves, and the money comes out of the communal pot anyway! I did suggest that he tries to replace a number of lipsticks that are almost used up, but he probably forgot. He certainly didn't take the old ones out with him.

Morning / evening one and all. Thanks for the tree Pauline that will do nicely for me. To be honest if we did not have all the Grandkids we would not bother. Christmas Bah Humbug !!!That reminds me I must find OH's blck Santa hat with that written on it ! :-D. I am attempting to write a list of presents that I still need to get. I have not got the feintest what to get youngest son, and OH.

Hello La Gooner, YG, Maz, Pauline, DET and Aunty, remember me?!

I hope everyone is well and happy, sorry I haven't been keeping up with your news over the last months.

In a nutshell: I'm still married, eldest daughter and her family are still living at my late Dad's house. Granddaughter is just over 2 and so adorable and so chatty. Youngest daughter is in second year of university in London, I'm looking forward to next week when she comes home for Christmas. I'm still working - almost 27 years in the same job - and quite stressed at the moment because we are in the middle of moving premises. My two dogs and the budgie are alive and well

:-)
