Evening DET & Pauline.

The wind is starting to gather strength here, although it doesn't appear to be as predicted at the moment.

Sounds as though you have kept OH busy after all DET. That's what I like to see!! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Dec 2011 09:25

Morning LG - no, all the pressies were wrapped as they were bought :-D T'was a good night (for us) on TV + a rather racy book for the advert breaks (fans furiously)

Query - for those with a Sky satellite - is anyone having problems with the signal breaking up? It seems to be on Universal and Syfy at the moment, although Sky Living takes its turn. Its not weather (rain/wind) dependent and is really getting on our nerves. A bloke from Sky phoned us at the weekend, trying to flog additional packages; he said he'd send a 'signal' down the line after we'd plugged the phone line in, which was supposed to have sorted it out, but it didn't.

Out for lunch today with Eldest in her town of work, along with a pressie swap.

YG Report 14 Dec 2011 15:54

Afternoon everyone.

I don't have Sky, DET, so sorry, I can't advise you.

I started with a sore throat last night, but thought it might have gone this morning. Had a bad night, but still attempted to go to work. Anyway, my boss sent me home at 9.30 so I have been languishing on the settee sleeping and watching tv all day.

No more pressies wrapped yet, they are still sitting there! Well, I do have a few days left yet!

No problems with my sky DET. Oh I do hope I haven't jinxed it saying that :-|.

Evening all , Mini Gooners are here crafting so you can imagine the mess

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Dec 2011 19:37

Hope you've managed to unstick yourself after the 'craft' session. You are probably Kn*ckered after all that. Thanks for the Sky feedback. So it's definitely us then, not national. :-(

Poor YG - isn't it always at this time of year that the lurgy strikes? Fingers crossed that it clears up in time for the Festive weekend.

OH got caught on the hop and agreed to a Flu jab tomorrow. What's the betting he gets a mild case or a cold???

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 14 Dec 2011 21:13

Poor YG OH has sore throat and I fell decidedly sniffly :-|. I do hope it does not develope into anything as I have a Christmas do tomorrow night. Mummy and Daddy were doing the crafting I just supplied the bits and pieces.

YG Report 14 Dec 2011 22:00

Evening LG.

Hope yours doesn't develop into anything. I can't believe how quickly mine came on and I feel rough. There will be no work for me tomorrow unless there is a great improvement overnight.

At least it has come this week, rather than next!!

Keep wrapped up and I hope your OH soon feels better.

I am off to bed shortly, so I will say goodnight and sleep well. <3

Mazfromnorf Report 15 Dec 2011 07:19

morning our sky was retuned when we got a digital aerial the otherday he moved the dish by accident but as far as i know it was ok DET ,our freeview is much better now though i can watch my tv easier as we have two aerials mine is now independent of the main one meaning i can watch tv when A has his playstation on atthe weekends
well i have had a long two days am up early to meet Froggy later we are off to dalton park for a nosey i bought two coats on line and the arms are tight so am hoping tey have them in lol
I have had two hectic shifts resulting in a red vehicle being called again

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Dec 2011 09:27

Morning all - hope you have a restful day with Frog. Pity about the coats, but at least you can return them. As for Sky - I'd phone them myself, but as the account is in OH's name, they won't talk to me. I'd dearly love a Plus 1 box to record clashes, but you can't seem to order them with out taking out an HD package which would be wasted on us. Add into the equation that the previously mentioned Tuner/Amplifier seems up the spout, it could be rather an expensive New Year!

Hope the various lurgies clear up PDQ. OH's flu jab has been rescheduled for Monday as the nurse 'hasn't turned up' (phone call) as yet at the surgery. Most odd. So its even more likely that he will come down with a mild case just in time for Christmas :-(

AuntySherlock Report 15 Dec 2011 11:04

Hi everyone, hope the germs disappear quickly.
Finally completed my cards and will post them tomorrow. OH has put up the tree and the decorations. I think tree might need a little tizzying up, which I will have to do late at night while he is asleep. I'l blame Santa.

Work is full on and appears never ending. Slowly working through the tasks and finally found the top of my desk today which is a real bonus.

Off to bed now.

YG Report 15 Dec 2011 14:44

Afternoon everyone.

I think I am slowly coming back into the land of the living. Throat is feeling better, just need to get rid of the cough and sweats!!

Have to take one bundle of fur to the vets tonight for consultation and then back either tomorrow or one day next week for dental work. Minimum cost quoted £220, but if teeth need to be removed, will be more :-P :-P :-P I know I am in for the higher end of the cost, but at least they have an offer on at the moment with a third off!! I am hoping to book her in for tomorrow so that it is all over and done with and she will feel much better.

Maz, why didn't you call me if you had some of the red vehicle visitors!!! I would have crawled out of my sick bed for them!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Aunty, I bet you are pleased you can see bits of your desk again!! How long before you bury it again!! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Dec 2011 16:46

Poor YG - if its not one thing, its another. At least the sore throat is on the mend which must be a blessing.

And Aunty is probably shattered as well - I suppose it is partly the end of the school year to blame. At least when they have broken up, you won't be pestered with the day-to-day stuff and can clear the backlog.

We've done the major things-that-will-last until Christmas food shop today. The Nectar points made a good dent in the bill :-) PC said she watched a TV prog last night, where the people usually spent £1200 on the Christmas Dinner - we'd probably spend that over 2 years!!!

YG

YG Report 15 Dec 2011 17:12

£1200!!! Good grief!! Is the turkey solid gold!! :-D

i am actually cooking myself a Christmas dinner and have ordered the smallest capon that I can get!! I will be living on cold chicken for days to come after Christmas, but at least I will have some lovely soup!!

Nectar points can come in very useful, DET!! Mine take longer to build up now I am on my own, so I tend to hang on to them until I have a reasonable amount saved :-)

YG Report 15 Dec 2011 19:02

Well, I'm back from the vets and I think I must have killed some robins this year!!

He says it is possibly a very bad infection and has given her antibiotics and some anti inflammatory drops that I need to give her, but his gut feeling is that she has an aggressive tumour in her mouth. I have to go back next Thursday at 5.30 and prepare myself to leave without her if the swelling hasn't gone down.

Thank goodness this year is almost over. Maybe 2012 will be better :-( :-(
