Morning all, well MERRY XMAS BAH HUMBUG !!!!!.

Oh's Stepsister died suddenly on Xmas day, although they did not have much to do with each other his niece called him to help with all the legal stuff. By the time the paramedics, police, A & E,Coroner and Undertaker were sorted it was 3.30am Boxing Day before we got to bed. Then we went and bought a new laptop and guess what it was faulty so we had to take it back along with a present that I had bought OH which was faulty too. To cap it all had stepdaughter and her brat here yesterday.

Oh, so sorry to hear the bad news - the fact that your Christmas was messed up if nothing else. OH's step niece must think highly of OH if he was the one she turned to, to support her with officialdom..........and emotionally presumably. Sometimes we have to put our personal feelings to one side to accommodate those close to us (yesterday's visiting relatives)

But at least you now have a brand new working laptop to play with.......and lots of catching up to do with the various grandchildren! It can only get better!

(visions of Spot sliding all over the polished new wooden flooring) Will you go for laminate or real wood (which would need polishing)? If you decided it makes the house too echoey, you could always put a big rug down in the living section. Unless you hate the kitchen tiles, I'd be inclined to leave them be.......but that's a personal opinion.

Heavens LG and here's me presuming you had run off with a soccer player. Sorry to here about the disruption to your Christmas and your family bereavement. Do you sometime wonder if it is the fault of all the mirrors you have broken in your lifetime.

Speaking of soccer...... They drew their last game didn't they

Please note you've been "invited" to Rocky Mountainville by RMS. On her post there is a list of clothing you will need for the trip. If it was me I'd be running in the opposite direction to warmer places.

Still can't decide whether to go laminate or wood wood. Have already decided on the rug in the middle of the floor. I believe there is a type of wooden floor which has a really hard surface. Really must spend some time in the next week or so exploring the options and the timeline for having the job done.

Spot won't be a problem because he prefers to sleep on the kitchen tiles. Don't ask me why, would have thought the carpet would be more comfortable. The tiles in the kitchen are only a few years old, so they have to stay. I like them anyway, so that takes care of that decision.

Morning/evening everyone.

LG, I am very sorry to hear your news. It is always a difficult time but Christmas makes it so much worse.

Hope you got the faulty goods sorted out. I thought that only happened to me!!

I have decided that I am going to say one big Bah Humbug to Christmas next year!! :-P :-P I am sick of the expense and bored rigid!! Will you all please remind me when the time comes :-D :-D

Hope you like Aunty's new colour scheme in the throne room LG!! It really does make a change.

I had second thoughts about the turkey soup!! My son has a habit of dumping anything on me that they don't know how to get rid off!! The turkey carcass was stripped and the meat put out for the birds, cats and anything else that is prowling around in my garden. I am using my own capon carcass to make some chicken soup and have it boiling away nicely at the moment. Must dash to the shops for some veg to finish it off. Smells yummy and will probably last me till next Christmas!!

Just read the thread back I can imagine YG on the desk tops dancing and singing lol with her shuffle on

YG

YG Report 28 Dec 2011 17:41

Hi Maz. Me, on the desk top!!! Never, never!! I shall just be glad of some music in my ears, otherwise it is like working in a morgue!! Heads down, busy and you can hear a pin drop!! We used to have a radio playing, but the team of telephone consultants can't listen to music, so the managers stopped us using it :-P :-P :-P

We are at the other side of a dividing wall, so our own teams round there sometimes have a laugh, but I love music and it helps the hours go by!!

It took me a while to sort out the Shuffle, but that was mainly because I was having problems with the current version on ITunes on my lappy. I finished up having to uninstall it and reinstall the latest version. Once I had done that it was easy.

Aunty I have laminate and rugs right through downstairs. It is the best thing we have ever done, so easy to keepclean and it alwayslooks nice.

Make the most of the peace and quiet Maz . I have today and thouroughly enjoyed it.Peace is shattered tomorrow as I am at a Pantomimne with \brownies and Rainbows :-0

YG Report 28 Dec 2011 18:31

Evening LG. I am pleased that you have had a quiet day today, but I'm sure you will enjoy the panto tomorrow!! :-D

My son has real wood flooring in his lounge and hall. He has laid laminate himself in the kitchen, bathroom and youngest's bedroom. I wasn't keen at first, but it has grown on me and I like it now. I was thinking about for the bungalow, but as we have problems with ants I don't know whether it will be suitable.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 28 Dec 2011 18:45

Evening YG. I sholdn't think it will cause more problems with your ants in fact you could probably see where the little blighters are lurking

YG

YG Report 28 Dec 2011 19:14

They are lurking under the front of the bungalow and have already damaged a piece of skirting board. I get a little pile of soil appearing in the corner of the hall as well, so they decide to dine out on wooden flooring!! The whole area round here is troubled with the little blighters!!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Dec 2011 20:26

I'm stuffed having finished off the Xmas pud.....it *was* split 3 ways! Does anyone else yearn for fresh fruit and salad after the Chistmas blow out? At least BM took most of the other left overs home with him today, so only a bit of beef left.

Re the wooden flooring - we have laminate in the children's rooms, and do have to chase dust bunnies around at times. BM's has chipped for some reason, but PC's is still immaculate. She probably isn't so heavy footed - lol. They do sell different qualities; ours must be light domestic.

The hall is hard wood floorboards. They ought really to be washed and polished regularly, but only get done once a year. We do find that water stains them, so we/I have to use a coloured floor polish when they are eventually rebuffed. Definitely a hands and knees job.

My BFFE's daughter was in Jim'll fix it some 20 years ago. She 'edited' a film. Sadly she died of CF 10 years ago, but her condition wasn't mentioned in her application letter. The Producers of the programme said they had chosen her as her request was different to the norm. Her mother didn't want her to use her illness to get things that other children couldn't.

OH is watching the Top Gear special, so best go and be sociable, and read the latest Terry Pratchett before PC wants it back!

Creeps in with tin of Red and White paint, brushes, rollers and loads of players pictures all framed up to hang on the wall.

If you don't want to be wearing my team colours you best move out of the throne room YG ;-)

AuntySherlock Report 29 Dec 2011 02:44

Sorry LG, this is special paint. You can only repaint it the same colour. Any other colour just spatters and covers the person trying to use it. Phew, that was quick thinking.

Aunty dances off whistling, ah da, dum ,dum, dum, another one bites the dust!!!!!

YG back tracking to your post about ants. Do you have white ants, the ones that eat timber, sometimes called termites. Or are these just Pommy garden variety ants that build dirt nests??

If you have termites and they have started on your house!!! Nope you must know of the destruction termites can cause. I have seen it first hand. Identify your ant types so I can stop worrying.
