Afternoon everyone.

Aunty, I used a packet cup cake mix recently and it only makes six!! I shall have to revert back to mxing bowl, flour, eggs, sugar & fat!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

I think there will be more than stink bombs flying round later!! Her Maj's team are playing my son's favourite team!! Let's see who has to go into hiding!! :-D :-P

Your elastic wasn't tight enough on the catapult, LG!! The consignment missed by a couple of hundred yards!! :-P

I always make my buns from scratch lol not I use A@@@ mix and flavour it up accordingly lol its the cheapest and two packs make enough

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jan 2012 17:43

3 of you use packet cake mix? Good grief! :-( Mind you, I only bake little cakes in December, and a big one for Birthdays........empty calories and all that. Fairy Cakes seem to have been supplanted by Cup Cakes which use the same size cases as Muffins, which is probably why they are put into the packets - cheaper for the manufacturer as well as making you buy more mixes to feed the family.

Did you ask neighbours if they were having trouble with their land line or internet? Could it be all the expansion of metal in the heat having something to do with the disconnectivity?

Mazfromnorf Report 22 Jan 2012 17:52

the reason i use cake mix is its cheaper than getting all the ingredients in as there is only two of us most of the time and its often cheaper to buy a cake .

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jan 2012 18:04

Never really costed packet v home made cakes, although you are possibly right about ready made sharing cakes being cheaper...but then we don't buy those either.

As the basic ingredients for little cakes are always at hand, the cost isn't something I consider. The offspring used to 'make fairy cakes' with the packets occasionally about 20 years ago. I used to think they were a lot 'drier' than home made from scratch ones.

YG Report 22 Jan 2012 18:07

You're right DET, they are drier, but I have to confess to being a little lazy!! Not that I bake regularly because I would have to eat it! :-D

Whoo hoo!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D Good result, but I don't think LG will think so >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Best get my suit of armour on ready for the onslaught!!

Found a use for those stink bombs I am throwing them at that other red and white team :-| :-| :-| :-|.

Evening all, I only bake from scratch as I have to do special milk and butter free ones for Mini Gooner. Also with all my lot packet mixes would cost me a fortune :-D.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Jan 2012 20:18

morning all

I can't use packet mixes ......... I'm dairy intolerant, so have to omit all milk, butter, etc etc

raining here

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Jan 2012 20:33

Hello Sylvia, it can be so awkward that intolerence can't it we have to be so careful with what little one has

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Jan 2012 21:21

LG

it is indeed ......... although I do have to say that it is easier to deal with than when I was first diagnosed in 2005

more foods are available without dairy, and more items in the grocery store are labelled "dairy (or lactose) free". Even ones that wouldn't have had dairy in them anyway !

cafes and restaurants are more amenable to making slight changes (eg, omitting a sauce, or butter on a sandwich).

and most coffee shops have soy milk ....... so I can have my favourite Soy Latte :-D :-D

I do miss cheese, proper ice cream, and yoghurt, though!

Your littlie must find it hard when unable to eat what friends eat.

LaGooner Report 22 Jan 2012 22:41

She is used to it now and questions anything she thinks might have milk in it. She is only just over 3 but knows whats what :-D. I keep in SPECIAL treats for her and ordinary for her little sister so she does not go without ;-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Jan 2012 23:13

Poor little thing

Good on ya for having treats for her!

My neighbour's grandchild is about 3, and dairy intolerant ...... and she also keeps special treats in for her

I know it's not going to kill me ................. but it does give me the most violent intestinal upset, that goes on and on for about 4 hours.

I do not like it!

and so avoid dairy. I've had a few "accidents", and suffered for it!

People do say I should be able to eat sheep or goat's milk and cheese ................ but I really do not want to try them in case ........

I guess you are about to go to bed

sleep tight

Ooo - LG is like me, a Night Owl! Mind you, she has the snuffles so may slip off early. You and Aunty can fight over the Throne if you like :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 23 Jan 2012 01:29

I think Auntie sounds stronger than me!

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 23 Jan 2012 02:57

I am not into fighting over the throne. I just bide my time until the Poms are snoring in their beds, and take over.

Blondie is on a healthy eating regime. No dairy, no sugar, no wheat, and nothing which grows under the ground. She make quite delicious meals from her allowed ingredients, if you like eating cardboard. No, that's unfair, I have sampled one of her lamb dishes baked with pomegranate juice and it was delicious.

I am home early today need to finish off this baking, icing, preparing and fiddling for tomorrow. OH is off to the dentist. Yes he will need pampering when he arrives home. I will probably be served soup and mash or icecream for tea tonight. Oh heavens hot soup today sounds 'orrible, and don't suggest that French cold soup, the name of which I am too lazy to google.

Catch you all later. Condolences on the losses in the games or congrats if you won. Our side lost the tennis, T20 cricket, soccer, basketball, but I think they won the Tour Down Under.
