YG Report 27 Jan 2012 18:32

Me neither LG!! Curtains are closed and I am warm and cosy!

Having problems with my lappy, so my 'fella' is coming on Monday evening. Been talking to the IT guys at work and I think I may need to have it all restored. I do have the system backed up on discs, but should really update those before anything is wiped off as well as just doing another routine file back up. I need to get some more discs tomorrow, so guess what I will be doing during the evening!!

Am off to get my tea ready, but I will be back!! :-)

You can scrape our macaroni cheese bowl out if you like? On the SE news, the local farm shop has apparently introduced chocolate covered brussel sprouts. Bet it'll be packed tomorrow, but at least it will increase their custom when people go there to try!

You's up norf have a 70% of snow over the next couple of days. Dahn suff, we have 60% and then only over the hills. :-P Just you watch, RMS will come out from the shadows now, and snigger!!!

Tee, hee. That what comes from having parents who decided to stay in the UK :-)

Mind you, my parents nearly became Ten Pound Poms, but met with severe resistance from their families. I could have been born an Aussie if they hadn't caved in!

RockyMountainShy

RockyMountainShy Report 27 Jan 2012 23:59

YOU TOO !

My Parents were all set to go - had jobs, had ship tickets. But then my Mum got pregent with my sister, so they couldn't go, could they?

ANd then the RCAF wanted extra men and the rest is history.

That was bad timing, and a shame that they couldn't travel. But at least your Dad had a job to go to in Canada. Even though you now live the far side of the Continent, it isn't quite so far back to the UK as Australia is.

Your Uncle and grandfather Balls might not have been able to make so many trips as they did.

Unless LG pops up out of the ether, the throne is yours to keep warm.

Night RMS :-) :-)

Hi Everyone who is awake with icicles hanging from their dripping noses. It is 4.45 pm over here in this part of the world and is still 34.5 degrees C. And that my shivery friends equates to 94.1 degrees F.

Storm clouds are gathering and we should have thunderstorms and rain this evening. The temp should stay in the mid 30s and perhaps fall to a chilly 26 C early next week.

I have solved my internet problems. My modem was suffering from heat exhaustion. IT guru gave me a little desk fan which I have blowing on the modem. Hey presto, no more drop outs!! Now could this possibly work in reverse for frozen computer equipment. Let me see, build a small fire in the vicinity of the computer and warm it up. Hey now that might result in a visit from the uniformed blokes in the big truck.

And speaking of uniforms. I was at work work for a while today. Turned off alarm to my building and left the others on. Cleaner came in, and I didn't give it a thought when he went to another building. And yep you've guessed it. Up rocked the fellows to see who had broken into the establishment. I pleaded guilty and begged them to take me away. They wouldn't!!!

Morning LG - hope you didn't wake RMS; she'll be ever so grumpy if you did!

Aunty, Aunty. What are we going to do with you? Not only do you go into work work on a Saturday, but you have a senior moment that the Boys in Blue have to deal with :-( When do you have to start back in paid toil? (Just so we know not to nag!)

PC has a lap top tray with an inbuilt fan, so a desk top fan for your monitor sort of makes sense. Would have thought it would have been the Tower that was over heating, but, hey, if it cures the problem.

You shouldn't have suggested a fire to warm up colder climes computers - you'll have YG trying it out to see if she will get a visit :-D

Some of the TV progs OH likes to watch, show lorry drivers in the northern wastes in RMS part of the world, lighting fires under their engines to warm the diesel. !!!! Thankfully, we don't have to resort to that.

Been back legitimately for a week now. The small hordes return Monday. I have an external modem which is why it is not cooled by the computer's fan. External fan works wonders.

I am off to bed. We have had our storm, not much rain, and it is now very muggy.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Jan 2012 11:50

Take the fan into the bedroom - perhaps that will help you sleep. After all, ladies of a certain age??? ;-)

I'm miffed - thought my fmp 1911 sub ran out about 27 Feb, but the site is telling me to subscribe. :-| Emailed fired off for clarification. :-| :-S
