What's it like being semi-retired? For the first couple of years, great - all that time to devote to do what you want. But after that? Well, it can get a bit boring; no incentive to get on with things as there is always tomorrow.

Hope the house is intact when AS returns from work work. You might suggest to OH that he sleeps with a clean rag or something before he goes away next time, then Spot will have a 'comforter' while the house is empty ;-)

We are both trying to get used to our new glasses. OH's are fine, but I'm not happy with my varifocals. I think the 'middle distance' graduation is in the wrong place :-0

Evening all, watching the tyneside derby with interest myself Maz. . Getting a bit scappy though they are both at risk of yellow cards . :-0

EDIT...Looks like we might have a bit of a fight on here Maz. Gunners versus Black Cats :-D. Not once but twice

rain rain rain today (Feb 8)

........... and today was the day OH had the colonoscopy

I don't drive, never have driven

so we had to go down on the bus (about a 20 minute ride), and then got a taxi home.

Anyway, the news is good .......... one small polyp removed, go back to see the doc in 1 year, and have a colonoscopy in 2 years.

The polyp will be examined of course to make sure it isn't cancerous. But it doesn't seem that the doc was too concerned.

More rain tomorrow ........ so we are in a warm wet period

OH saw the first snowdrop in flower in our garden this morning :-D

Cold and dry here Sylvia, hard frosted ground.

Pleased to see it went OK with your OH. I think the doctors must have had an idea the polyp wasn't cancerous if they didn't seem concerned. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all will be well.

The first snow drop of spring? Isn't that early for you?

Good news about OH, long may it continue :-D

It seems that it is warmer in your part of the world than in ours, which is a turn up for the books. Perhaps we ought to emmigrate - lol

My house was "Spotless" this afternoon. Yuk, yuk. No the dog didn't disappear and neither did he make any retaliatory mess.

All day I pace the barren waste, without the taste of water, cool water.........
Well that might be a slight exaggeration, however, there was nothing coming out of the tap this afternoon. For about four hours. My acute intellectual mind process suggests it might have been because of all the watery stuff bubbling from the ground in the street around the corner. Gutters were awash, tidal mud marks on the road, and when I drove past on my way home a water board repair truck was guarding the site. Just the truck, mind you, no expert pipe repair personnages visible. Oh well I won't expire from thirst. There is a well stocked wine rack and when that is depleted I can always turn to the bottles on top of the wall unit.

I had a check of the water stocks. One flush in the toilet, the Spot's bowl is full, my gym water bottle, a bit in the kettle and I never even thought about the rainwater tank!! Fortunately for the alcohol supplies the water is now back on again. Well I think fortunately is the correct word.

I am off to bed. OH and the gang are due home tomorrow. I hope they have caught plenty of fish, the weather wasn't too bad, and there is plenty of room in the freezer.

Actually,,,,,, speaking of the weather, it is downright flaming well cold. Very unseasonal.

Hi all

still raining

OH can drive again after about 3 pm (which is in about an hour from now) :-D

that means we can go for afternoon coffee (soy latte for me, thank you!), without getting soaking wet AGAIN .................. we had to go out this morning, and had to take 2 buses each way.

DET ......... snowdrops usually start to show around mid-February in sheltered areas in the garden with us, so only a little bit early

we do live in the "Banana Belt of Canada" ....... as RMS would tell you!

What does worry me is that the rhododendron and camellia buds are starting to swell .............. now that IS early, and we could still get freezing temperatures.
