Morning LG and everyone.

Well done on the sale purchases Sylvia. You have been more successful than I have ever been - things are either not in my size, more than I'd want to pay, or 'when would I every have the opportunity to wear that?' Never mind.

Todays exciting venture out is for...................the dentist ! :-0

Morning everyone,

from a very mild Scotland of late, this is scary as we don't
do mild winters here, but I will force myself to cope with this
miracle.

i wanted to be a Archaeologist, was a nurse instead. :-)

A brief visit......

Glad to hear that's another bit of paper under your belt Maz. But with your background, it should have been a walk over.
See if you can track down the Admission Books for the workhouse - they may have a clearer entry about your Ms Flack/Jack etc. If you can scan the BC, bung it this way and we may be able to decypher it for you.

All clear at the Dentist, thank you YG :-D <<<<< polished teeth!

Evening all, don't mention workhouse records I am trying to find one of the OH's relatives and her daughter. Oh boy they are heavy going some are non existant whilst some are so faint they are illegible.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 17 Feb 2012 19:54

the only list for the worhouse is 1881 .I am not clever at scanning so will have to wait for the IT froggy to help .It is Fack ,Tack Or Jack but the first letter looks the same as he has written the F in first ..

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 17 Feb 2012 20:02

Aunty now has wings, handy, but has lost wand, traumatic. Trying to see if I can have both. Hope they don't believe I'm a raving lunatic.

Well I am but I like to keep that info to myself.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 18 Feb 2012 08:36

Aunty it looks cool i like it ,though you wont need wings here today more like an anchor .it wild here as they say in the north
.The gunners will freeze me thinks ,I have left the back door open just in case the broomstick is blown off course and lands in Durham cos sunderland is not far away

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 18 Feb 2012 08:40

And very smart wings they are too! How about asking the IT Guru if he can assist in adding the errant wand?

Ooo yes, those workhouse records. I've spent hours trawling through the Minster Admittance/Discharge books for my grt grt grandfather - he used it as an old people's home from sometime between 1901 and 1911, dying there age c92 in 1922. The covers were red, and stained the hands something awful. Never did find the admittance entry, although he went on 'leave' several times.

Another tack may be to phone the birth Registering Office. If they are willing to look up the original entry, they may have other handwritten entries to compare it to.
