Evening all, well the day went really well. There were 4 of us on the stall and it was good except for 2 heavy showers.I was very sneaky with the second one as all the stall was packed away except our Gazebo. Loads of folk ran under it for shelter (at a price!!) I rattled our Guide dog collection boxes under there noses for donations for sheltering. ;-) ;-) ;-).

Evening LG!! Well done!!

We had several showers here during the morning, early afternoon, then it cleared up and it has been lovely for the rest of the day.

Oh, I so wish I was in London tonight!! I'm as jealous as h*** of my family being there! What an atmosphere!

YG Report 4 Jun 2012 23:19

There#s been nothing round here at all, the miserable lot! You wouldn't know it was the Jubilee weekend. :-P :-P :-P

I'm going to attempt to cut the grass tomorrow morning, before the rain come back later in the day. It doesn't look as though there will be another fine day until after next weekend. :-P :-P :-P

I'm off to be shortly, before my carriage changes back to a pumpkin!!

Sleep well, LG. I'm sure you will after all your hard work this weekend. <3

Morning LG. After your hectic weekend, we thought you'd be having a long rest in bed ;-)

Glad to here the fair thingy went off well - hope the showers didn't put off the punters.

YG - that's a surprise that you couldn't find anything Celebratory in your area. Did you look on line? At least 2 of the surrounding villages here are mounting exhibitions of 'what is was like' in times past, with the WI provding teas......not that we went. Even though I grew up in the locality, OH didn't.

Your family will be pooped and a lot poorer by the time they get home - lol

We did go to the neighbouring Parish Beacon/bonfire lighting. The Farmer had been asked by the Parish Council to organise it, on one of his fallow fields, next to the cricket pitch and the Pub. The Cricket people arranged impromptu races for the youngsters. There wasn't a great turn out, about 70 or so, but it wasn't intended to be a properly organised event.

It was quite funny to see every one who had been huddled together for warmth, gradually step back as the bonfire heated up!

It was probably the highest place in the Parish, but unfortunatley we couldn't spot any other Beacons/bonfires although we were able to see the tops of big fireworks exploding in the distance, one set likely to be from across the river.

I'm glad we went.

Glad you got the TV for that! ;-)

Can't he buy himself a small TV? They aren't that expensive. If he needs to be 'wired in' in the same room as you, he can always get himself a pair of headphones so he can use those.

We used to have a joke with BM. He was always having problems connecting with one of his friends - all we could hear was

" Barry? Barry? Barry are you there?"

Said Barry is now married, and has set up a portable in a cupboard next to the main TV. When he wants to play on line, and his wife wants to watch TV, he opens the cupboard doors, puts on his earphones and has all sound directed through those, and they are both happy :-D

Evening all.

Well, another totally idle day, watching tv! But back to the grind tomorrow!!

I did check online, DET, but the nearest was about 22 miles away for a beacon lighting but there were only 7 street parties in the whole of Doncaster. One colleague at work was holding one, but it was by 'invitation only'!!

The family got close at St Paul's this morning and were well pleased about that. They did try to get to the concert last night, but it was packed and all the access points were closed by then, so they went back to the hotel and watched in the club lounge on the tv, with free beers all evening!!

They were planning to go down the mall this afternoon, but the rain had started, so they chickened out!

I've been sitting watching the tennis for hours, it was brilliant. The Frenchman got so close to getting into the semi final.

Tennis? What tennis? ;-) Wimbledon will be with us shortly - sigh. But if you enjoy it, you'll be in your element.

Glad the grandkids have had a good time in London Town - its a pity they didn't walk down the Strand from Charing Cross first thing this morning. There seemed to be hardly any crowds there for the journey to St Pauls.

PC has Norus virus, brought home from work. That means I'll probably get it in 24 hours as I've been having to clean her up. Deep Joy - not :-(

YG

YG Report 5 Jun 2012 22:23

Ooh, I hope not, DET. It's not good :-( :-(

My friend suffered with it during the cruise, starting with it on the last evening. The ship's doctor gave her an injection to stop the sickness, but it was a worrying time as they could have stopped her from flying home the following evening.

I'm off to bed now, ready for work in the morning.

Sleep well <3
