Evening all. :-D. My what a busy lot you have been. I ventured into the garden earlier to clear the area beside the shed. Moved out one very large sand pit, huge bag of play sand, various sand toys and a slide. All duly delivered over to the mini Gooners. They used to be used over here a lot but they don't come here as often now so more practical over there. At last I can get to the compost bin etc with greater ease.

I bet you are aching now LG, although YG should be physically relaxed if she has been watching the Naked Gardener ;-)

Bad luck about the unexpected rush across town - the best laid plans of Mice and all that.

YG Report 23 Jun 2012 21:49

I don't think he is best pleased with me at the moment because he is having to work this weekend to finish them. If he hadn't messed about yesterday the job would have been done. His fault!! :-P :-P

As for the 'spoil', there is tons of it, DET!!! The border is being reduced by half as well, so I dread to think how many barrow loads. Me thinks more cost to hire a skip if noone wants it!!

Are you planning to do something with the area that you have cleared, LG

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 23 Jun 2012 23:01

No that bit is already done YG. It is where the compost and spare containers live. and where we park the wheelbarrow etc. It's nice to be able to get to everything properly. I had loads of spoil when we dug the pond but I now have raised borders :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Jun 2012 23:35

YG, try freecycle if you can't get rid of it be word of mouth (or raise your borders - lol)

There's n'ought on TV so may log off and go to bed shortly. Still in work mode for waking up which is rather irritating :-|

YG Report 24 Jun 2012 12:09

Afternoon (just!!)

No, I haven't just crawled out of bed!! i was up and about early, got ready and drove into town before all the parking spaces were taken. Son's birthday this week so needed a card and money wallet (omg, more expense!!) I also needed some desserty/cakey stuff for the barbecue tomorrow. It has cost me a bloomin' fortune! Why am I such a big softy!! :-D :-D

My line manager has co-erced me into staying for something to eat, but banned me from clearing up in the kitchen as I am holiday!! :-D :-D

It was raining heavily this morning when I got up, but has now cleared with patched of blue sky and sunny spells. There are still some dark clouds lurking but the seem to blowing over, thank goodness.

I have given away some guttering that was hiding behind the old shed. I put that on Freecycle and it was collected yesterday. I also advertised the top soil and some plant pots, but not one e-mail. Perhaps I will try again. I can't raise the borders that I have and although I would like to have some raised beds in the middle of the back lawn, the cost would far outweigh the price of the skip and I can't take any more hassle at the moment!

If I ever mention a new shed again, will someone please remind me of the trauma of this one. NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN :-P :-P

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Jun 2012 12:23

Oh gawd :-0. So that's the retirement plans put on hold???

It seems a shame to dump the top soil - does the NG know anyone who could use it? Failing that, you could bag it up in strong rubble bags, and take it down the tip... a couple at a time. Or ask your offspring to help out? There are times when we have to turn to those younger and stronger.

And just you make sure you don't do the clearing up tomorrow or you'll be hearing from us :-| :-P

YG Report 24 Jun 2012 19:28

Well, I am kna****ed!!! Cut and edged the back lawns and cut 3/4 of the big lawn. Just the front bits to do tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday. :-D :-D

The sun is shining and it has been a beautiful day. Just come in and now going to have a bath and cook dinner!!

DET, I have about 1-2 tonnes of topsoil!! Luckily an e-mail has arrived from someone on Freecycle who would like it and the plant pots, so fingers crossed, because that will save me £60 for a skip :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 24 Jun 2012 19:35

Build a huge rockery YG ;-) :-D :-D :-D :-D. Evening all, been busy all day but now parked in front of TV for match.

YG

YG Report 24 Jun 2012 19:43

I've just amended my post to say that hopefully someone want it LG, but you beat me to it!!

How did I guess you would be in front of the telly tonight!! :-D :-D

Much as I hate footie, I do wish them well tonight and hope they win. The new manager seems to have the right knack with them at the moment. :-) :-)

The olympic torch is here on Tuesday, and I am in trouble at work because I can't rake up any enthusiasm to go and see it!! I'm afraid the Olympics don't stir me one iota!! Not a sports person!!!! (that's an understatement!) :-D :-D

DET, the retirement plans put on hold for another two years at this rate!! :-D

Edit: I misread the e-mail. She wanted everything except the top soil. Oh woe is me!! :-(

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 24 Jun 2012 19:49

Same here where the olyympics is concerned :-\ :-\ :-\. BORING !!!! :-\ :-\ :-\. I will not be going to see the torch when it passes near here. I am not sure exactly the route but I will be avoiding it for sure :-D

I can' be bothered to cook dinner now, so am settling down with a bowl of soup and a treat (a nice slice of lemon tart dessert)! I know, I shouldn't be eating it, but you have to have a treat now and again!! :-D :-D
