Morning all!!

Thank goodness that horrible humid heat has gone.

It's white cloud here today, but a little breezy.

Pauline, it sounds as though you had a lucky escape. What is it with the British weather - it seems to be the norm now for these awful storms.

We had plenty of thunder and lightning here, but apart from one really heavy spell of rain, the rest was just showers.

I was on shift as it started cooking tea with one of the residents so i dragged her down into the office so i would be about if the others got scared as the storm was noisy and it was dark .but they did come down lol to see if i was ok lol so i did a round of tea and toast .

Glad to hear you're OK Pauline. At least B wasn't stuck at his day centre, which was one thought going through my head. <3

We'd missed the evening news and it wasn't until I had a pre-log off peek on here we had heard about the awful storms. OH got cross when I was flicking through the news channels trying to get some pictures!

I love a good thunderstorm although OH isn't so keen - a bungalow opposite us had either a strike or a close one a number of years ago. He shot out of his armchair when it struck and was half way across the room before he knew it - lol

DET, if you like thunderstorms you would have loved it here yesterday. It was pitch black by 5pm and the lightening was flashing for hours.

Luckily my son got home at 3.30pm ......... just before it started.

Within the hour, parts of the day centre were flooded and the staff were there most of the night trying to get it usable for today.

My niece lives on a very steep bank, DET, so there's no chance of her house getting flooded........ thankfully.

Peek-a-boo!

Hope you have all survived the day...and no more nasty weather surprises have turned up. Those photos we've seen are quite shocking.

Our list of things to do has been reduced; sometimes we need to focus on the more boring things around the house.

Sis-in-law has given us a date for her moving ...this coming Thursday! At least it won't clash with BM's now. Phew.

YG Report 29 Jun 2012 20:34

Boo DET!!

I will be thinking of you on Thursday helping your sis-in-law!!!

Pleased to hear that you've reduced the 'to do' list!!

I've been wandering in the garden centre today for a while!! Bought a couple of shrubs for the border and potted up a planter that needed some refreshing!!

It's been a lovely day, and I even managed to have a snooze in the garden chair!!

Glad you've had the chance to enjoy your 'new' garden after all the hard work you've put in. it would be a shame to have to go back to work but still need a holiday to get over the holiday :-D

Today I partially painted the shed (it IS a big one!) while OH did the loos and washed and polished the work tops and kitchen windows :-D

We're having another go at young salad leaves - the slugs/snails having go the first crop :-|

YG Report 29 Jun 2012 21:20

I always need a holiday to get over the holiday, DET!! I just don't like going back to work, although it will be a good excuse not to spend any more money!! I need to refill the bucket again now!!

I need to give the fence a second coat and the shed has to be done within three months, so I think that will be a job for the August holiday, unless I get inspired one weekend!

Your OH is a very good boy!! Tell him he can have a medal from me!! Although, not for the late rising!! :-D

Evening all, Just recovering from a day of gardening. Mini Gooners in their's this morning then mine all afternoon. I have at last planted out a good few of the things from the greenhouse.

YG

YG Report 29 Jun 2012 22:49

Evening LG. Bet you are tired now after a busy day.

My back garden is almost done. Just a couple of slabs to cut and lay at the back side of the shed to finish off and it's done!!

Next project: A new gate!! But not spending for a while!!

I'm just having a hot drink, then bed for me.

You're having trouble with your knees and my back has started now. I guess it's another sign of old age galloping on!! :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 Jun 2012 22:55

YG Report 29 Jun 2012 23:20

I'm not making any comment at all!! :-D :-D I don't feel brave tonight, and I don't want to spend the night in the dungeon!! :-D I need a very comfortable bed and pillow!! :-D

That's where I'm headed now.

Sleep well, LG, watch out for DET lurking somewhere <3

Come on, get up, it's a lovely day.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Jun 2012 08:33

Shoosh...not so loud! Please!

Its good to see you up and about so early Pauline

No, I didn't lurk last night and actually got to bed before midnight. All this unaccustomed activity must be getting to us. Either that or we are beginning to realise we aren't as youg as we used to be!

Hope you don't ache as much as much as you did last night YG. Both Pauline and I can warn you of the dangers of overdoing things which effect your back. :-0

Hope your knees don't feel so sore today LG. It is a bit fresher.

Was it this weekend that Maz is planning her escape? With the damage to the roads, fingers crossed it hasn't had to be cancelled.
