You're probably right!

In the end we went shopping for OH to spend his M&S vouchers.

Strange question for your other half. Is it legal to have a number plate of one letter then 2 numbers and that's it? Would it be a 'special' registration for a (ahem) civil servant? A parked up Range Rover with that, caught our attention.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Jul 2012 18:52

Fingers crossed that this lot *are* neighbourly. I bet the letting agents were far more careful this time round. ;-)

I'm waiting to see if OH is going to cook, but rather think we are in a Mexican Stand-off situation. Even PC suddenly thought of something else to do when it was mentioned earlier!

Oh well - off for a rumage in the freezer. :-(

Evening all.

More saucepans banging this morning!!! I had been up for more than an hour, getting ready for work and to take the car in for it's service and MOT!! Ouch!!! :-P

Well actually, she is a little darling, as nothing needed doing this year. I have to go back for the bill tomorrow, so it should be a lot less than last year!

Another gorgeous day today. I can put up with this :-D :-D

Good morning all, or good evening your time. Still dark here, not as cold as it has been and we are expecting rain over the next few days.

I have just had a look at the new tree. Interesting. I particularly like the "list" option. Shows me where I have gaps in my research. "Unknown" was apparently a very popular name amongst my ancestors.

Not certain if I told you that Spot the fantastic striped sabre tooth tiger was put to sleep about two weeks ago. Had to be done, and his passing leaves a large gap in our lives. OH's life in particular. Whilst I would give almost anything to have Spot back, I must admit I am becoming used to the lack of dog hair in my life. OH has said no more pets, and that is fine by me. Now thinking about a new carpet for the lounge, a carpet without the labrador dribbles by the chair.

Work work is very quiet as is usual this time of the year. The year's preparation is done and it is too early to start on next year yet. Maintaining the budget and ensuring they all have the resources they need is about all I have to do.

OH and I have discussed the possibility of a cruise. His idea, three days out from Adelaide and return. My idea, a very long cruise to some exotic overseas destination. Ah well dream on!!

Good to see you are all well and fighting fit. Try to stay on good terms with the new neighbours Maz. Remember no loud music, pinching the copper pipes or chucking your rubbish over their fence. Is Arsenal still playing soccer LG? Hi YG. Just remember while you are gardening in your lovely weather, that it is our Aussie weather you have borrowed. We will soon take it back and return your wet, wintry, cold, English weather. As for DET do I understand you have the new title of "board police".

Must away. Need to have a shower and wash my dark red hair. Yes I had it painted again, she said what colour, I said a bit more red, she said OK, and I got what I asked for!!!

DET the reg came from an original old car. c 1910. It is a legal plate BUT!! it's very expensive OH reckons at least 5 figures :-0.

YG OH says what did you have to bribe them with :-D :-D :-D.

Oh such sad news Aunty I am sure Spot will indeed be dearly missed. :-(.

Foootie premiership starts again in August so really must get my new seasons shirt before then. Mini Gooner already has hers she had it bought for part of her 4th birthday present :-|.

A cruise sound good . Just a common old cottage holiday for us but in a beautiful part of the country in a couple of weeks time.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Jul 2012 08:14

Good morning All, and evening Aunty. It’s good to see you posting again.

Such sad news about Spot and OH must be feeling the loss greatly. Never say never – he could always consider taking in an old(er) rescue dog, one where the previous owner can no longer cope due to their own infirmities.

Although not my cup of tea, getting sea sick on a Mill Pond, a short cruise does sound a good idea. Cruise ships usually have lots of entertainment, exercise opportunities and internet access, not quite the same as being cooped up in a caravan! There would be plenty of other people of a similar age to talk to, so it isn’t as if you’d be stuck with OH’s company.

Do you like my uniform? There is a shiny whistle here >>> :-D

Thanks for the info LG – I wonder why the owner chose that particular number as it couldn’t possibly be their initials? They must have more money than sense.

We’re supposed to be visiting Dover Castle today, to make the most of the good weather. Except OH hasn’t stirred yet. :-(
It will be back to sunshine and showers by the weekend

Aunty sorry about the beloved spot it will be a sad miss ,I do know what you mean with a new carpet though and fur but i love my fur really

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 24 Jul 2012 12:39

Hi you lot. Hmmmm I think the cruise might be because for the last ten years we have never been anywhere without dog, and have had to think very carefully about where we went because of him. Early days yet, I am quite happy to sit home with my feet up and a pile of books, or the computer.

We are all waiting in eager anticipation for the start of your games. Oh I am such a fibber!!!! Well we will probably watch some of the Australians play, run, swim, crawl, jump etc etc. The TV has been taken over with advertisements about the great event and the newpapers and magazines are also full of it. It will be old news before it begins.

By the way my footy team are the surprise packet of the season. From fourteenth on the ladder to the top four, currently in second position. The new coach has rejuvenated the team and they are playing very well. Look out finals here we come!!!

Uniform!! DET hey find yourself a policeman avatar, hmm wonder how that would go down. I know I would embarrass myself laughing so hard.

YG

YG Report 24 Jul 2012 19:47

Evening/morning all!! Good to 'see' you again Aunty.

I'm really sorry to hear about Spot. It is devastating, but a very kind, unselfish thing to do when the time comes,. He will be missed. I understand what you mean about the fur though!

A cruise!! Oh, how I wish I was going again this year. The plans went somewhat sour, when my friend's partner booked a two week holiday in Cuba to celebrate her 50th birthday. We do have more holidays, but I need to keep some back now as at long last I will be getting the new central heating, which I am sure I will need when our weather has reverted to type!!

LG, I didn't have to bribe them at all. Went to pay the bill tonight! Shock, horror, although not as much as last year!! Forgot to pick up the receipt and the mot certificate so will have to nip back tomorrow on the way home, so I can't tell you what was done!!

Evening all, been out all afternoon and now absolutely KN******D . It has been so hot in the car even with the air con on. :-|

YG

YG Report 24 Jul 2012 20:21

Evening LG. The heat is very draining, I must admit!! Our aircon in the office hasn't been fixed yet, so we have bought eight desk fans to share today!! I might have to get my fan out at bedtime!! :-D :-D

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 24 Jul 2012 21:48

I envy you lot and your heat. You know how I feel about the cold weather and of course the shorter days. Never can fit quite as much into a winter's day as what you can into a summer's day....... Go figure!!

By the way dau has a new partner, who has children. They have moved in together. It is absolutely hilarious witnessing her coping with children. She is doing a fine job of it but some of the questions, and new experiences for her. Walked into her usually neat and tidy house the other day to a disaster scene of toys, games, clothes, you know what I mean. In the middle of this was two littlies immersed in a computer game and new bloke watching telly. It is so good to see her happy.

YG

YG Report 24 Jul 2012 21:51

I am sure she will take to it like a duck to water, Aunty!! :-D And it's good that she is obviously happy with her life.

I am not moaning about the heat, you understand!!!! We have had very little sunshine this 'summer', but plenty of rain and more rain and more rain! This is only going to last a couple more days and then more showers, but at least it won't be persistently heavy rain causing floods everywhere again :-P :-P
