Chaos with the organisation, or chaos with the roads?
As an 'official' vehicle driver at least he can use the Olympic Lanes. It would seem that everyone else is confused. We've seen signs 'Olympic Lanes Open' which is confusing. Open to whom? Apparently when they are in operation, ordinary drivers can use the bus lanes, but that message hasn't got through = gridlock.

Glad Frog's stay-over is working out...and that A's car is in safe hands. Enjoy the 'look out' and hope the weather is kind to you.

Oh dear - perhaps there was a break down in communication re the accommodation - the organiser thought that the sub contractors were sorting their own out and vice versa.

Dads do come in handy, don't they? :-D

Hi all.

Only read the last 2 pages so not up on all the news.

Sorry to hear about Spot, Aunty, the house must seem strange without him.
Your daughter sounds happy enough with the new family, at least it's only part-time so it gives her a chance to get used to it.

Love the new avatar LG, have you got him at home or is he off the Internet?

Why is DET the new board police, have I missed something?
I like the uniform though, you look very smart.

Maz, your new neighbours sound like a big improvement.

YG, I spotted that backward sentence straight away.......... does that mean I'm dyslexic?

Hello Pauline - I'd pointed out to a poster that she was replying to one which was 6 months old, then suggested the poster contacted the OP by PM because etc etc.

The response (a further month later) was "Who are you board police???'' :-D

LOL, DET. Never mind, at least you can join the 'uniformdating' site. I'm sure you'll get lots of interest in that fetching uniform. :-D :-D

EVENING ALL (said in the tone of Dixon of Dock Green) :-D :-D.

Pauline, unfortunately I have not got him at home. I wish I had he would look great sitting in my office with all the many other pieces of Gunner collection.

I for one willnot be watching the opening ceremony tonight BORING !! :-\ :-\ :-\.

YG Report 27 Jul 2012 22:19

Evening all.

I'm watching it, LG, although I won't be watching any of the games. It is quite good, but I'm not sure that any foreign visitors will understand any of it!

Hmm Oh decided to put it on and you should hear the comments :-D :-D. Love the Mr Bean bit though and Dambusters theme which is a very stirring piece of music. Disappointd they did not play my theme tune instead of Bohemian Rhapsody :-P

YG Report 27 Jul 2012 23:18

Well, what can I say, LG!!! At least they remembered them!! No mention of your favourite place though! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Jul 2012 09:17

Opening Ceremony? Well we did watch it all (from 9 pm) and were rather confused - too 'busy' rather than eye catching. OH was impressed with the engineering involved with the Cauldron but keeps going on about "How are they going to move it out of the arena?" !!

The three and a half hours is the only time I'm going to deliberately spend watching anything to do with it - I've already loaded my kindle with lots of free books to read if OH insists.

Oh gawd - OH is *still* stuck in front of the TV :-(

He was the one who said he would cherry-pick what he wanted to watch, not sit glued to it all day. :-|

hi i have hardly seen a tv at all yet alone stopped long enough to do anything ,I was so tired i was late up so both furs fell out with me .we have been out for a little ride today so it was atreat but I came home and did the garden so I am quite chuffed Froggy has popped up to work to put the lights on etc as thats part of his role so I am just catching up with a couple of chores while he is away lol
It has been lovely not doing mountains of laundry today .

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Jul 2012 19:01

If you are tired Sleep!!! Get up for the fur if necessary, then go back again. If you're not working, what does it matter? ;-)

Glad you enjoyed your little ride out. OH did eventually turn if off and has agreed to research in advance for the things he wants to watch. At least it meant I could play on here for most of the day without feeling guilty.

Time to cook, but if he turns it on again to sport, I might be back :-|

We've had it on all day as well but it's not on now. Mind you, I'm going in the bath now so it'll probably be on when I come back into the room.

Evening everyone.

This is the first time I have managed to open GR. I kept getting error messages, even after searching for GR on Google and starting from scratch.

I stayed up till after 1am this morning! I enjoyed the ceremony, but put fingers in my ears when Macca was singing!! He was appalling and is long past his sell by date now.

I am tired this evening, so am off to bed early to catch up on missed sleep last night!!

I won't be watching any of the sports events and will just be glad when it is all over! I am thinking of buying a Kindle, DET. I am sick of trying to hold books open, especially when I want to read and eat! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 29 Jul 2012 00:01

~~~~~ in case anyone has managed to stay logged on.
We had the normal Saturday night problem of trying to find something we both wanted to watch, and ended up viewing a repeat of Lewis (dropped for a bit :-D ) then another programme I'd recorded during the week.
YG, I love my kindle as I devour books, mostly thrillers or detective stories rather than anything 'deep'. There are so many free or really cheap downloads to be had. Its also handy to pop into my bag if I know I have to wait for an appointment somewhere. It will definately be going away with me!
Although you can't buy a kindle in the shops, do try holding one of the alternatives and see if you can imagine eating and 'turning the page'.
With my version you use your thumb or finger on the side of the tablet, but newer models have a 'swipe' movement across the screen - visons of smears of salad cream or butter! I can sit and eat a sandwich, but you can only see one page at a time rather than a book's two.
If you are a faster reader or scan-read, you'd have to prop it up against the salt'n'pepper and be frequently putting down your knife or fork to turn the page.
Did the TV stay off Pauline, or had the males exerted their authority ?
:-D
