Morning everyone.

Well, the site seems to be working again at the moment!

Thank you for all the comments regarding the Kindle, DET! Everyone I know that has one all have good comments about them. I think it would be a good buy! :-D

I have been sitting idling this morning, playing games! :-D I really do need to get on with something now. It seems quite pleasant outside, so the lawn mower could be coming out a little later when I have prepared dinner.

Enjoy your day everyone. Catch you later :-D :-D

Good morning to all

I've been chatting by email with someone in Hobart for the last couple of hours, and have just packed her off to bed :-D

Part of my book problem, is that when I buy a hard copy - usually from a charity shop - I hate to part with them. OH was getting quite upset when I started to double stack them on the book shelves!

Eldest is coming to collect BM's car which she has bought. Hurray! But it does mean we have to do a tidy up. Boo.

YG Report 29 Jul 2012 19:25

Perhaps he had visions of the shelves collapsing under the weight, DET!!

Well, I managed to get one lawn cut and part of the second!! We had a very heavy rain shower that came from nowhere and I was drenched by the time I ran from the shed to the back door!! It has been fine ever since, but is dry enough to finish now, but I think it's a little late (well, that's my excuse anyway!) :-D :-D

Five more days to work and then a week off!! Whoo hoo!!!! :-D

The tv is exceedingly boring. I suppose we have to put up with this for more than two weeks :-P :-P :-P

AuntySherlock Report 29 Jul 2012 22:21

Morning all, and hi Pauline. Dark, cold, but not raining in this here place. We enjoyed the opening ceremony and even as furriners understood it all. Didn't watch all of it, just bits and pieces. Have not watched any of the sports yet. It is on late at night early in the morning and we hear the results on the news, so no point in watching.

I walked ten kilometres yesterday morning. Practice for another race on 19 August. It is astonishing how easy the distance has become. Perhaps I will up my distance to a half marathon. Falling about laughing, no that is beyond the capabilities of this elderly type person. Hmm then again if I worked up to the distance graaaaaaadually I might be able to. Nope!!

Did I tell you about our Foxtel cable??

Tuesday two weeks ago we had palm tree stumps removed from yard. Foxtel cable cut through. No Foxtel. OH rang and was advised repair would not be until Friday. Disappeared outside for a while, came back with cheesy grin on face. Managed to connect the cable, it worked, it worked. Foxtel man arrived Friday morning. Told him he was a genius for connecting the cable how he did. Unethical. No person, at no time should ever tell a man he is a genius. How can a mere woman live with a genius??!

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 30 Jul 2012 10:32

What a clever OH fixing the cable! Has his head shrunk enough to get through the door?? Even though mine is in his element with wiring and electronics, I doubt if he would have attempted to fix it.

A half marathon is double (plus a bit) to your current 10k. Could you do it? May be, with training, but possibly more as a personal achievement rather than to win your age category.

OH didn’t turn on the sport until mid afternoon which is an improvement on Saturday. Even when I asked him to change channels mid evening, we couldn’t find anything else to watch, so we ended up reading or in his case, playing SS. At least we are having some ‘proper’ news on this morning. BM went to view the men’s cycling road race on Sat on one of the ‘free’ stretches, bought last minute tickets for some rowing on Sunday and has tickets for either volley ball or basket ball on Tuesday.

OH has now decided he would like to visit the Olympic Park, but all Park Only tickets have been sold out.

Plans changed and Eldest didn’t collect BM’s car, which means we can get it fixed. The heater apparently doesn’t work which no one knew about until after the deal was made. Even though it isn’t our responsibility, I wouldn’t like them to fall out over it.

Evening everyone.

Well done to Aunty's OH!! I don't envy you having to live with a genius, though!!

Enjoy the peace and quiet while you have it, Maz!! And catch up on all the washing!! There will be plenty more when A comes home!!

The tickets for the Olympics seem to be a bit of a farce, don't they! I would like to see the park, but am not bothered about any of the games. I would really just like to sit and watch something decent on tv!! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 31 Jul 2012 00:25

LG must be having problems; she hasn't appeared at all today.

Good to hear Maz has enjoyed being out and about. Once you've cleared A's backlog, you'll have to tell him to get himself organised ;-)
In the mean time, you can hope that no news is good news.

OH has decided he would like to see the Park YG, but all the Park only tickets seem to have been sold. Even if we could get hold of viewing tickets, I don't think we'd be interested in attending any of the events.

We've been talking about the unused seats, and as well as offering them for sale the day before, or to London teachers and students as is now planned, we think that any last minute releases could be sold within the Park (meaning to people who already have access) about an hour before a session at something like £10 each. At least it would avoid the embarrasment of empty seats.

Evening all, just finished dishes and collapsed on the sofa with a nice cup of coffee. :-D

AuntySherlock Report 31 Jul 2012 22:29

Freezing morning all. It is 3 degrees in Adelaide so where I am will be about zero. One month till Spring which is when we have really cold mornings. Can't wait.

Have to agree about the olymnpics seating stupidity. Evidently corporate and sponsors bought up or were donated lots of the seats and have not used them. We have heard stories of the families of Australian competitors being unable to get ticket for particular events, and then discovering there were plenty of unused seats. Hopefully they will sort something out.

I see DET has gone from soaring with eagles to being back with the turkeys. Bit puzzling that little lot. I wonder who is bothered by something we used to do quite a lot. Out of sight, out of mind springs to mind. What happened to healthy competition and working together???

Must away, putting off having a shower, too cold to get undressed. Well you lot would know about that!! Roll on summer.
