We all worry about our children, if that is the problem, but we ought to realise that they are adults and shouldn't expect us to 'make things better'. Mind you, I'm just the same!

Try and have a snooze this afternoon - you may feel better when you aren't so tired. <3

LaGooner Report 25 Aug 2012 10:57

For a change it's not the kids, it's nothing drastic but mountains out of molehills as I have been feeling a little under the weather the last couple of days. Not feeling ill,but not feeling well if you know what I mean :-S. :-D

Hm - niggley worries can get you down. There is a 'coffee jar' story somewhere I'll try to find.

In the mean time.....
The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Ah that is lovely DET thanks. I think it will be the case of me giving myself a good telling off. I find that often works :-D.

Found the Coffee! I gave a copy to a DH once at work who was in a really bad way - I wasn't 'close' to her if you know what I mean. When I gave up work a number of years later she mentioned that she had kept it

The Mayonnaise Jar and Coffee
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar… and the coffee…

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous “yes.”

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, ” I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things – your God/Faith, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else – the small stuff.”

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.”

So off you go for a coffee with YAL !!!!

We'll have to arrange another get together when she isn't so tired :-)

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 25 Aug 2012 11:20

That would be good. She is completely different when she is not tired and having a new dog in her life has made a lot of difference too. The old ones have passed now and this one is only a year old and full of life. He is such a sweetie too , I love him to bits :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 25 Aug 2012 11:25

Glad to hear it :-D

We'll have to arrange it once she is confident that her furniture isn't going to be chewed to bits if her pet is left for the day.

Suppose I'd better get dressed and rescue the tomatoes. Catch you later and DON'T WORRY!!!!

LaGooner Report 25 Aug 2012 11:27

I feel a bit of Bob Marley coming on.
Don't woryy about a thing,
Every little thing's gonna be alright.

Doggie is perfectly trust worthy now so we will have to arrange something.

Enjoy your day and hopefully catch you later <3

Morning!!

I am here, maybe not with full brain function, but here all the same!! :-D :-D

I am still trying to fend off this wretched virus that I have had for the last two weeks. Getting better by the day, but it has all been in the head, sinuses and throat. Haven't bothered with the doc as they only tell you to take paracetomol and drink plenty of fluids!! :-D :-D

Must confess to having a lay-in this morning and then been getting on with some unmentionables. The council are due to start any time now with the new central heating, so am just waiting for the confirmation of date to book the time off work. Have to go to a q&a session on Wednesday teatime, so it is getting closer!

The weather is atrocious! Typical bank holiday, so I am off into town this afternoon. Have an opticians appointment and will probably do a little retail therapy as I have some vouchers to spend :-D

Evening - hope the retail therapy helped to perk you up YG. Even though the disruption won't be welcome, I bet you're really looking forward to a modern CH system before the winter sets in! And then will it be the kitchen???

Are you off duty yet LG, or still fending off the cat??

Another boring evening on TV. At least George Gently returns tomorrow :-D
