So good to hear that you had good day out Maz - the Saltburn incident made the national 'rag' I bought yesterday. I wonder if the poor woman was a creditable risk or just delusional? If the police didn't take her seriously and something went bang or fizz, they'd be in deep do-do.

Hope your weather settles down soon Sylvia...........and you've lost nothing more than your dustbin lid ;-)

Its so daft when offices and other places pull the stops out to get things in order for a VIP visit. Its the same when Ofsted go into schools, and I'm sure that other VIP's who only mix with 'ordinary' people during official visits think the world smells of new paint. Those in charge really ought to leave things alone. Then they can see things warts and all (and arrange for extra funding??)

We are supposed to be having a day out today as it is sunny and expected to be warm (16c) but haven't decided when or where as yet. We will deffinately check the www if an EH place is chosen (shades of Dover Castle :-0 )

Hi all

more high winds overnight, after the almost hurricane strength ones we had Sunday night into Monday afternoon. A lighthouse keeper on a small island to the west of Vancouver Island (ie in direct line of the wind) measured one gust at 187 km/h :-0

Hurricane strength winds are 120 km/h

Today ...... it's just pouring down! Plus it has only got up to about 3C .... so it's cold out there!

A bee? In the UK? My, that is early in the season. It was probably as sleepy as you felt, so well done OH for sorting it out. The last thing you'd want is to roll over and get stung on the.....ahem.

Ooo - just had one of those “you have problems on your computer" calls, again!

This time there was no company name given, and "our engineers have reported it to us, having collected the data remotely". Yer, right.

"Please boot up your computer"
"Which one?"
(Hesitation)
"Thank you for your time"
And they terminated the call. !

Good morning All

Have a good day out Maz, and don’t forget to bring us all a stick of rock!

It must have been rather sad watching a much loved home being torn down, even if a planned replacement is going to be bigger and better. Its rather surprising that the ‘good tiles’ weren’t reclaimed, but perhaps there isn’t a market for them in your neck of the woods? If you ever have a chance to go on a tour of a local ‘skip’ company’s facilities, it’s well worth it. They try and recycle as much as they possibly can. Put in a written complaint to the gas board, or say you think there is a leak….that might get them out PDQ!

Persie and Fred can come and do some diy jobs to my money pit, aka an inherited house currently rented out. There always seem to be something to be done on it; if it could be sold quickly, it would be. If we lived closer, we could do a lot ourselves, but taking into consideration the cost of travelling, there wouldn’t be any savings.

Did AS’s colleagues leave their washing out? A re-wash would have been another job to do when they got home.

Think we are going shopping today. Oh well, at least we will probably have a cup of coffee while we are out. Such excitement. Not.

Yes the smoke was very clearly visible from both work work and home. A couple of our staff were in the general vicinity when it went up. They came back with mobile phone photos of the smoke and flames.

Hey here is this horribe wet stuff falling from the sky. Tried to start this afternoon with giant sized drops and a bit of thunder and lightning. Gave up and went away. Is back now with strong winds, pouring rain, thunder and lightning. Woops seems to have stopped again. Rumble, rumble flash, flash.

Morning people .up early today because the chuffing cat decided to bounce all over me at 4-45 am ,i isssss not a pleased bunny ,lol ,anyway the pest is fed now ,and off out into the wild blue yonder .
Fred does not harm spiders at all ,they are most important to a gardener, anyway ,i am most mindful of them after being chased by a camel spider in Sharjah in my younger days ,cor i wish i could run that fast now ,,lol
so Glenn is quite safe ,he can move a lot faster than me these days.
The porch is finished too ,just the step and the brick repair needing the red paint on now to freshen the whole lot up.
All our taps stop cocks and meters are in a cupboard in the outhouse ,turned little dining room where they are easy to reach if ever the need arises ,at least ,they would be if the wife wouldn't keep leaning things like brooms ,the hoover ,and other house cleaning tools, against the ruddy door ,he he ,still ,after i took a hissy fit and threw the offending articles out of the back door ,i think she got the message, hmmmmm ,come to think of it ,where did she put them .maybe i had better check the greenhouse ,just in case .
I'm glad to see you looking after your fire men Aunty sherlock,i did notice that there were bush fires out your way again, and that the residents in one area were told to leave their homes and head for safety ,hopefully it won't be as bad as it was last year, and there will be no loss of life.
That's it for now ,i need to take the boss her cuppa up without which ,she is no good in the mornings ,but once she has had her fix ,and a coffee when she slithers down the stairs ,she is almost human ,he he.
Catch you later ,Fred :-D.

I can do porch repairs. Know how, can do!!

My daughter and family moved out of their house the other week (now renting) Their house demolished and a new one built.. where all three children will have their own rooms. There will be a family lounge and then a lounge where I will go (this is to be kept tidy ..that'll make a change,) when I visit.

First day nothing happened to house took about three days and then all the tiles came off the roof.. seems a shame they were for the knackers yard as they were the best part of the place. SIL went around and took photos for facebook. Next day we went around early afternoon and the whole house was rubble and some of it in dump trucks... so I texted my SIL and said "house gone" no question mark. Get text back " I don't know will go around tonight and see" I text back
"NO Bxxxx I am telling you the house is gone, I have just been and had a look." About half an hour or so later cellphone rings when I am in supermarket. Either penny has just dropped. he needed to think about it or he was busy with a coffin or dead body. Photos went up on facebook that night of all the rubble and mess,

That was Friday no progress this week... why? He had a bit of trouble getting the gas board to go around and turn the gas off. They can turn up for smelly onions or slippers but not to turn it off. That will be another two to three weeks revenue that the gas board will reap. They had been advised well beforehand.

Persie :-( :-P

Well you got me all hot under the collar there Aunty. I was so hot, I shorted out the local substation and put all the power out!! It only came back on about 20 minutes ago, then I had to mess about getting the vision box running properly again for the tv!!

:-D :-D :-D ;-)

Would someone grab Fred, truss him up and chuck him into the padded cell. We need a gardener and until we manage to read the Nut Lodge terms and conditions to him, and convince him he needs to take on the position................

Better remove Glenn first. He has already lost one of his eight legs and Fred will probably have a can of bug killer in his back pocket.

Morning all. Very, very warm night. Looks like another mid 30s day today, but we have been promised some rain.

There were 100 of them, all together in the same place at the same time. They were very, very busy but ahhhhhhhhh just the thought of it.. I should have taken refreshments to them.

Hi everyone.

A reasonable sort of day here today, but cloudier and a bit cooler again.

Fred, be careful the Nut Lodgers don't come and raid your garden. We need a plentiful supply of fruit and vegetables here!!

I have given up the idea of trying to grow my own stuff. By the time I have bought all the grow bags, compost and used extra water through the meter, it is cheaper to buy for one person! I usually finish up giving most of it away!!

I hope Maz isn't in the Saltburn area today. The armed police and bomb squad are currently in a stand off by the sea with a woman who has been reported as having suspicious objects on her. :-(
