Morning all – what a variety of weather reports we have from around the globe – heat, gales and gloom.

Fred, you are lucky to have a garden where things actually grow; ours is north facing surrounded by trees which suck any ‘goodness’ out of the ground. We bought a plastic tent like greenhouse last year, but there couldn’t have been enough air circulation (no windows) and all the tomatoes died of mildew. Even the over wintering geraniums succumbed! We’ll have to get an industrial sized can of Jeyes Fluid and hope that will see the mildew off.

Next door gave me a number of Dahlia (or was it Astor?) tubers to plant up yesterday. And as you said, today is overcast. I’m a fair weather gardener, and it isn’t fair weather!

YG, things will work out; just hang in there. ;-)

Enjoy your day at work Maz. We await in trepidation to hear if you have managed to burn the place down :-D

What a difference from yesterday ,i spent two hours in the garden ,sorting out the growing pots ,boxes ,and troughs ,filling them up with spent compost out of my potato barrels ,replanting one of them with Charlotte ,before sorting out where everything was going to be planted in the back garden, and finishing off ,with the lady bosses help ,cleaning out the greenhouse ready for the off .
Today i get up ,and what do i find ,huh ,might have known ,dull chilly ,much back to normal i suppose :-(.
Oh well ,back to the drawing board ,,house work mostly .and finishing off the porch repairs out front .
Looks like all our veggie patches and chicken runs are going to be very important this year ,what with the drought ,and the price of both eggs, and vegetables going through the roof due to water restrictions.
Those of you people with allotments will have to be on guard ,the thefts will go through the roof as well.
Hope everyone is in line for a good week ,no matter what you are up to ,Fred :-D .

hi all
xxx

gale force winds and rain overnight Sunday and until after lunchtime on Monday ........ winds reached 120 km/h off the outer coast, 80-90 here in the big city.

We seemed to be OK in our area ........... just trees and branches blowing around, but quite a bit of damage, and power outages throughout the city, and elsewhere.

Our clocks went forward on Sat/Sun night .......... did you know that the Monday after the clocks go forward has the highest incidence of accidents .............. blamed on the clocks being moved. Add this to the gales, and I stayed home until early afternoon!!

For the next 2 weeks, I will be 7 hours behind the UK ............... and no idea how my time relates to Persie or Aunty!

Mmm, annual review :-P The mid term review was due in October, but that hasn't happened yet, let alone the start of the new review. We are greatly understaffed in our department, 50% of full timers gone (2 out of 4) with only a temp 3 days a week and an apprentice.

Ideally, I would like to wait until the bungalow has been completed. unless an opportunity to take my part time hours in the Education & Information department comes to fruition. I won't remain in the admin department on part time hours, I would rather retire first than stay in there!!

And a hose pipe ban come April :-D

That's a sure sign for the heavens to open and drown any hope of taking advantage of the warmer weather. We'll be having outbreaks malaria next.

YG - weren't you supposed to be having your Annual Review about now, and had been thinking about cutting down on your hours?

Honestly, having public holidays for a sporting event? Well I never!

Morning Aunty. Don't worry about autumn approaching, the winter will soon follow!!! Meanwhile, we are heading for spring and summer with lovely warm temperatures .>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> don't any of you lot laugh!!

AuntySherlock Report 12 Mar 2012 19:43

Oh Dear DET. I really would like to let you know we celebrate such an important day as "Commonwealth Day" with a public holiday. However in this case our holiday on Monday 12th March is for a horse race, the Adelaide Cup.

We in South Australia have the day off so about 17000 of us can go to the horse races. I think it is a compensation to those living in SA because Victoria has the Melbourne Cup in November, and they have a holiday then.

There have been mutterings about removing it from our calendar but the unions seem to like it so there it stays. It used to be in May but it rained every year so they moved the date to March and now it clashes with Mad March where we have the Festival, Fringe and the car races and other stuff.

I will try the refresh button next time the screen freezes. Thanks YG. It does not happen very often and judging by other's complaints I am very lucky with how welll my GR works.

Our temperature is hoving around 28 of a day time but the next two days will be in the low 30s, then we have two days of rain forecast and slightly lower temps. Night time is going down to 13 degrees, so autumn approacheth. Which means flaming, freezing, miserable winter is not too far away again.

YG, do you really believe that 'fire' was accidental?

They're bound to click on soon and start blacklisting Maz. :-) :-)

LOL at Persie's 'gas leak'.

And DET's dad's 'gas leak'.

A few years ago my mother-in-law was very embarrassed because the young woman next door called the gas board and said she could smell gas coming from my mother-in-law's home. It was the garlic she was cooking!! :-S :-S

When you get the error message again Aunty, just click on the 'refresh' button, instead of going on the back arrow. You should hopefully only get one post appear!! It works for me anyway!! :-D :-D :-D

Maz, you are really not being very fair at all!! Not only do you call them out under false pretences, they live just down the road from where you work!!! Seeing as they sent the big one with the ladders, would they not have reached down here to rescue a lonely lady in distress!! :-D :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Mar 2012 16:16

Hope you managed to get back to sleep Aunty; surely the temperatures have fallen to a more comfortable overnight level? We all try and go out of our way to satisfy YG and Maz' fascination with the male firefighters. My Son in law is convinced we're nuts ever since I chased down the road after 2 jogging fireman when they lived in CA! Fingers crossed you can shake of the 'bug' in time for the next stroll.
Was today/yesterday - well Mon 13th - Commonwealth Day as per my calendar? We don't 'celebrate' that at all, let alone have a Public Holiday!

Tut, Maz - a bad work(wo)man blames their tools - and we thought you were the professional caterer :-P

Next foray into fast walking is not until 31st March. This is good because this virus appears to be a recurring variant. Not feeling too bad but am glad I have a couple of weeks to recover properly.

Had a giggle the other day. I was on my way somewhere with a friend and a fire engine drove past. I commented on the fact there was a fire engine, hey look, a fire engine type announcement. Felt like such a dill. However I could not exactly add, I am a Nutter from Nut Lodge and such an event is noteworthy and worth a comment. I wonder if it has been to Maz or YGs place. Now, I really couldn't could I. But I did think it!!!!
I noticed the 1000 viewer has come up on the thread. That means 1000 have taken a look but we have posted 16459 times. I am up very late. Couldn't sleep but am now yawning again. Will be doing my zombie imitations in the morning.

Whoops error message. This means you will have me in duplicate. What a lovely idea, two of me. Will stand by and delete one.
