Will give the Ruby one a go... hmmmm lots of ruby red wine... yes could be on to something there... 38th year is coming up shortly so 40th not too far off.. our eldest will be 44.

She told everyone at school how she had been to our wedding and they thought she was making it up. Mind you I guessed she would as she had already been telling the neighbours where we had just moved to a few months after we married.

Now Puss the secret to eating chocolate bars is to chew a lot.. no gulping.. thus using up as much calories as said chocolate bar at the same time..... Or if you get varifocals like Det the chocolate bar could look smaller.

I have bifocals which are clear at the top... I was short sighted and then as I got older needed bifocals.. and then had cataracts done and can see for miles.. but because I had worn glasses since I was 12... no one including myself felt I looked okay without glasses hence the clear top bit..... but I do miss how before I could read really really small print with out my glasses... that has gone forever.

I have middle distance computer glasses as well... and like you Det, I wondered what was wrong when I got up from puter at work and went out in car wearing them and things were not quite clear... :-S

Off for a few days.. but will be back wearing my builder's apron...

Morning all coolish today. Why would you waste chocolate putting it on brussel sprouts. I don't mind brussel sprouts as a vegetable, not a dessert. Perhaps you Poms drizzle chocolate over your corned beef and boiled potatoes, instead of white sauce.

It's great when you find another source of family history. I envy you all your elderly rellies whose memory vaults can be searched for treasures. I am the elderly relly (and OH) of our lot, so we are the ones whose brains need unlocking. Unfortunately the current generation isn't terribly interested. Boy am I going to have a field day the first time one of mine comes to me and says, Mum tell me about my great grandfather. It is all recorded, digitized, researched and stored. Our work is going to take all the fun out of family history research for the next generation.

Evening all.

Love the avatar Aunty!! And thank you for the weblink, even though it did send my blood pressure through the roof!!

Had to change mine back again, as I have been on Puss's thread and I thought it might be a bit too much!! Am still looking for something that takes my fancy!!

I have decided that my new cp will be a Prairie Dog and his name is Pepi. His demands aren't great so he will be an economical pet in these hard times!!

Afternoon Maz - it would be wonderful if your Uncle had anything tucked away; unless he has interested children of his own, perhaps you could persuade him to lend you the archive to copy??

A good snack lunch down the pub today (only half a shandy :-P) for 3 hours until they started wiping the table under us, LOL. We bought chocolate covered brussel sprouts at the adjoining farm shop for our respective familes (one sprout per recipient). OH bit into his expecting a sweet filling, while PC wasn't sure whether to spit or swallow!!!! :-D :-D

well the throne looks lovely shabby chic as they say , coffee anyone ?
I have written a charry letter to my uncle in Dumfries with a list of questions lol His second wife thinks its funny .his mum was the said carrier pigeon from person to person and it was his mum who had the death certificate corrected for Molly so I wonder if he has any gems in his archives .She had kept snippets from parish magazines for funerals and weddings etc lists of mourners etc

Ah, a cultural misunderstanding.

'One I made earlier' is attributed to a childrens TV programme from our youth called "Blue Peter" (think its still going strong). They have a section on craft items, and always say 'and here's one I made earlier' producing the completed 'next step' from under the table.

They are also fond of 'Sticky back plastic'. They joked at their own expense many years ago; one of the Presentors was cycling through a Boeing aircraft manufacturing hanger, saying to camera as she passed the aircraft in various stages of production

" And here's one I made earlier and wrapped in sticky back plastic" :-D

Now you've completed the must do list, time to chill Maz.

I is a lady wot lunches today, so must away and put on the glad rags.

Catch you later.

No it's not the other one. I did it on a web site called Doppel Me. Sort of like a barbie doll dressing program. Did not have exactly what I needed but close enough.

I know what you mean about the glasses DET. I have two pairs, one for distance which I only use for watching TV and the other for making my brain work, ie reading, writing, counting, shopping etc etc. Often pick up the wrong pair and wonder why the world has gone blurry.

I am off to bed. Catch you all in the morning.

Morning Maz, and welcome home. S*d the unmentionable, just catch up on your rest ;-)

Had a terrible senior moment yesterday; as previously mentioned, I have new varifocals, and computer glasses. When driving in the dark late afternoon/early evening, my vision was terrible...all the lights were blurry and it was clearer peering over the top rather than through the lenses. The same continued while watching the TV later...couldn't read the text which I could the evening before. Much swearing and cursing with plans made to go back the optician toot sweet.
It turns out, I'd been wearing the computer (mid range) glasses instead of the varifocals :-(

Persie, what a shame about your 25th Anniversary. We did remember that one, being taken out for a family meal. On our 30th we were treated to a 'tasting food and wine menu' at our local posh Italien restaurant. :-D
You'll have to throw the boat out when you reach your Ruby anniversary, or the next milestone!!
