YG Report 3 Feb 2012 17:25

Evening everyone.

Well I am hopefully getting there. The system seems to be doing some automatic updates, so hopefully I am getting near the end.

It has been quite a task, but worth it. Looks like my friend has problems with hers too and she has no idea how to do anything, so could be involved there after our little computer man has been to see what is causing her problems. If it is a full restore, guess who will be busy!!

Sylvia - The eldest of us is 63; consequently we were talking about people younger or slightly older than that, certainly younger than 70 :-0 To go with that, 4/10 of us have elderly parents who are in a decline/have dementia or who have turned their face to the wall. That, to a certain extent is to be expected, but it is our near peers that shock.

Enjoy your day off work Maz. I bet you're whipping through those chores. Phone mum again and ask her about the name Neff. Her subconscious may have been ticking over and she'll remember something. Or there is always your aunt?

Evening - glad the period of mourning was brief. Hopefully the updates will be over and done with within a few days. When OH updated firefox, he lost the spell check much to my annoyance. Although I try hard, I know I have a few bad habits.

Been out for a meal with the 'old gang' from work. Conversation turned to ex members of staff who have retired/are seriously ill. Our age is beginning to hit home :-(
Still, the meal was good, as was the company. (+a 25% off voucher :-D )

Hi Maz.

I am still busy doing updates!! Looks like it will take a couple of evenings to get through them all, as they only come up a couple at a time. Everytime they install I have to close down and reboot so it is painful, but at least my lappy is working properly now.

I am having an early night to catch up on some well needed sleep!!

YG Report 2 Feb 2012 19:49

Evening all!!

I am back safe and sound, I think!! Still lots of updates going on, but I can handle them myself and they are likely to keep happening for a while until everything is totally up to date.

My brower bars are not what I'm used to, but will go back to what I had when all the updates have finished.

I started at 8.35 and went on until midnight, then up again at 1.15 to see how it was all progressing!! After two days of ten hour shifts with no lunch breaks I am absolutely pole-axed!!

Morning all . 8C yesterday for Sylvia? That's positively barmy! Darhn Suff it hovered around freezing yesterday with a wicked wind chill factor.

The Weather forcasters are besides themselves with excitement. A warm wet front from the west is due to meet a cold dry one from the east over the weekend...but they can't work out if it will rain, snow, a little bit or a lot (for us), or where!

Funny how FH can be a compulsion, isn't it Maz? It took me a couple of hours yesterday away from the computer, to drag myself back to reality. A lovely mystery for you to investigate when you have time.

Here's hoping that Sylvia's aches and pains have lessened today.

~~~~ to YG. Come back soon all refreshed and restored ;-)
Nope. In our backwater in the Garden of England, White rabbits was only 1 March. We never caught up with it as my peers were also from the new builds c1957. Our homes were the only ones we'd known. My friend (the drinking companion down the pub) used to be brought to school on her father's tractor :-D
YG Report 1 Feb 2012 19:25
Evening all.
First of the month! We always used to say 'white rabbits', but not when the month doesn't have an 'r' in it!!
Oooh, proposals on Valentine's Day!! Maybe for Maz!! Hope you lot aren't holding your breath for me to get one!!! I do have to put a sack outside the door though for the postman to put all the cards in!!
I'm just having a cuppa, then I will be saying au revoir until tomorrow evening. I need to don my IT hat and do this flippin' restore on the lappy! Here's hoping!!!
Aunty, my computer man does sometimes come in his work uniform, albeit that it only consists of a 'logo' on his shirt!! Rather tasty, though!! Shame he has already been snatched up! He is quite a bit younger than me, but as I am going backwards too, sooner or later we could have reached the same age!!
Bye for now folks!!!! See you tomorrow evening, hopefully!!
